after upgrade to 4.2 from 4.1.2 the phone is waking up at random, even with wifi, 3g snd sync off
same thing also keeps happening to me. another problem i'm having is also my gnex randomly turning off on its own.
One reason could be the Mediaserver process keeps running. 4.2 completely changed where the SD card saved, so your phone has to find where your music, pictures, and videos were moved to.
Factory reset if not already done.

do u know how I can test this? i have bettere battery stats but I cannot find this service
some have suggested it could be the usb port being bent and making contacts
for those that did a factory reset...
has titanium worked? I think I've herad there could be problems...
also, did u backup only 3rd party apps?

for factory reset you mean full wipe? from the setting? from CWM?

Wondering if anybody has ever had this issue...
Last night I know for a fact that all my pics were in tact b/c I was moving some wallpapers and some downloaded pics around. Today I opened my gallery up (running MIUI) and nearly every pic from every album was missing. I rebooted and when I looked again, each album (folder) said it had the right amount of pics in it but when I opened each of them up, they were still mostly missing. I plugged my phone into the pc thinking they would show up then, but much to my surprise they truly are gone. There's no way I could have deleted so many pics from so many folders on accident.
Anybody else heard of this? Is there a way to use one of the cache folders to restore them? The other strange thing is I'm 99% sure my SD card still shows the same amount of memory available as it did when the pics were there. WTF???
Thanks for your help!
Happened to me before. Just once. Lost some good memories.
On stock Rom.

Have you tried restoring a recent backup? That could easily fix it. Also, I'm personally not aware of this problem. =o

Yeah, I restored my last back up from 2 days ago... no luck. It's so strange b/c again, when I first pulled up the gallery, it said 100MEDIA had 148 pics in it. But when I opened the folder up, there was only the 28 that I have left. The other 120 are where??? How would the folder know that there are/were 148 files in there if they aren't hidden somewhere????
I've manually searched the whole SD card with no luck. Are they gone for good??
I had the same freakin issue once.. go to market and download sdrescan app its free.. let it do its thing and all your pics should come back to life! It worked for me and I'm running cm6..

My battery had been better lately, but today it seems pretty bad. I checked my battery and it says "media server" is taking up the vast majority at 48%. Screen is next at 13%. What exactly does media server encompass?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
For some reason it seems like the process that scans the ohone and sd for media files gets hung up. Not really sure why though. Haven't had it happen in a while so its hard to investigate.
Try wiping dalvik and cache on media server in app management.
If that doesn't help, nandroid backup, then wipe cache, dalvik and fix permissions in recovery.
If that fails to fix then try copying all your data off the sdcard, reformat and tgen out your data back on.
In dev options tick show cpu usage and you'll probably seed that media scanner process at the top.

Thanks for the reply. I looked and can't see options to do that. I'm assuming it's because my phone is still stock. The only things I've done to it are the update and running Nova Launcher. I'm not rooted, I haven't gotten the courage to do that yet, although I think I'm pretty close to deciding to do it.
It's not going to find many media files...I delete photos after they're uploaded to G+ and I don't even have any music stored on it, I use Google Music for that.
Will rooting my phone and deleting all the media hub and allshare junk fix this problem? It hasn't happened to me before, but today it wasn't getting used much, that's why the battery drain really surprised me.

You should be able to still clear data/cache on media server. Settings > App Manager > All tab
Find media server and you should be able to do it there.
You don't need lots of files to have the process hang up. It could be looking for a folder that's not there, or any number of things. That's why I suggested formatting your sdcard and see if it still happens. Otherwise since you're not rooted your only two other options I can think of are factory resetting, or odin flashing the stock FW. (Btw if you do that you may as well use MrRobinsons root66 fw. Then you'll get root at the same time! Very easy and safe to do)
If you want, get aLogcat from the market and run it, and save the logfile. Post it here if you like and me or someone might be able to find a clue as to what's happening. If you do this, also use the show cpu usage option to verify that the top process is in fact com.media.xxxx or something like that. It'll help to know what to look for in the log.

Hi, anyone heard of pics disappearing? They show in the gallery as just solid grey. Details say they are 0 for height and width. They still have a file name ending in. Jpg. Oh, and orientation says 0. Its only a few of my more recent pics and I'm currently on jb 4.2.2. Aokp build 5 special specifically.
Using the latest gapps. Downloaded quick pic and same result. Except it says load failed.
Basically they now seem to be a jpg with no data or image.
Its only happened since I've used 4.2.2. Flashed ptmr3's rom yesterday....pics still dead.
And they are on internal storage. I don't have an sd card.
Any help appreciated.

Did that. Maybe it'll help with new pics...but the ones missing are still missing. They were there several days ago. Now they seem to be empty jpg's. Just worried I'll lose something great, like of the kiddies. I've copied everything to laptop.
Hoping to find the cause....so it doesn't continue. Googleing this came up with a lot of similar unsolved issues and a lot that seem to be seperate issues.
This phone is my camera. If I can't solve this, guess I gotta buy a real camera. They still sell those....right?

Try Camera ICS from the play store.

I'll try that! Ty!
Still hope a wise android guru will know the cause of this tho! Lol

Just took a bunch of pics with camera ICS.....which I do prefer over stock 4.2.2 camera.
Deleted most of them. And bingo! The dead pics are pics I deleted, bit for some reason the file for some didn't go away, but had no image or data left. Deleted them a second time and they were gone.
I'm glad I know now that I'm not losing pics I don't want to lose, but still wondering why they don't fully delete.

Well its good that camera ICS worked for you. The best part is you didn't lose your important pics.

What did you do to make the media server kick in and start draining the battery? Streaming, gaming, etc!
I say that because when I play some games my media server will pop up with high usage! Something is making it come on.

so weird ........
Media server is scanning your sd card and external sd card. Whenever you flashed a new rom or reset the phone to factory default, media server will run depending on how much stuffs you have in those SD.
Best way is format the internal SD card with twrp or cwm(of cuz backing up all the files that you will need first). Check the external SD card with chkdsk make sure everything is working properly. To test it out, take out the external SD as well. Let your phone run for a day or so. Check with better battery status and your media server will not/should not be running anymore.
Mine only run about 5% the most.
you probably have a samsung ultra 32 gb memory card that is about to be fried. LIke was posted, take the card out or put another card in. You can check the phone after a short period of time and your media process will probably be normal.
Probably time to transfer your files to your computer and attempt to reformat the sd card or trash it and get a new one

Question did you try clearing media storage by any chance? Since your facing the same issuers.. That's helped me one b4, with a similar issue. Not sure if it'll help you but worth, a try.
Another thing try turning off everything. No data, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc, nothing few hours or so if you don't need your phone! And see if it's still running. If not then it's something that's pulling in data from somewhere

Meaning are you only using the same changer that came with the phone. Because it's a 2.1 amp changer which your phone needs. But older chargers for our older phones were 1 amp chargers. That's why I'm saying we're you using just only one charger or different ones. Sometimes chargers can give you problems was my reason for that statement!
Did a lil searching and like I taught its something that's on there. Either a file you loaded or downloaded? Just not sure what it is. But check this link out to see if it helps you..

Is anyone else seeing the error message "Unfortunately Bluetooth has Stopped" pop up repeatedly, as often as every 1-2 minutes? This happens even when I'm not connected to a BT device. It started happening to me yesterday and it's driving me crazy.
Checking logcat, I see these messages: pastebin. I was wondering if it's a manifestation of the bug in this article at Android Police, but surely that has been fixed by now? I'm presently unrooted and totally stock so I'm thinking a factory reset might be my only option, unless someone can suggest something else?
Yes!
Exactly the same thing. Driving me nuts.
I've tried to trace to an app but no luck.
Also totally stock, unrooted.
(Telstra Australia image).
Have been putting off reset as long as I can.
I see you are in Oz also.. are you running Telstra stock image?
I spoke to their online 'help'.. who said that it would be an LG issue and to talk to them.. confirming that they believe LG are responsible for all the QA on their image.
I'm going to factory reset... and see what happens.
No, I have the international H815. I've had it for a couple of months and this just started happening yesterday.
Do you perchance have Garmin Connect installed, and talking to a Garmin device?
hmm... no.. I don't... (this sounds like a game of Guess Who).
My son was getting the same problem on his S3.. but associated it with Spotify. Once he uninstalled the app, the problem went away.
I did have Spotify... but uninstalling did nothing.
Just went through phone looking for 'bluetooth' stuff. Have uninstalled Fitbit, LG Health, IFTTT,
All smart settings are off.
Restarted,,, waiting for error.
I'm suspecting it will work ok... for a while.
I'm now wondering if this is a manifestation of this problem, as the OP was getting the same message in his log as I am seeing. If so this is pretty grim. I use the phone to listen to music and podcasts in the car all the time, so if this is going to keep happening then it's severely impacting my use of this phone. I guess we can only hope that LG come good with a software update that will address this, unless someone else has a workaround?
I'm also having the same problem, I cannot seem to pin it to a specific app. I've tried clearing the Bluetooth cache and even a complete factory reset and I am still getting the same issue, if someone has a fix please post it's driving me crazy

Yes it's done it since day one when I got it (about a week ago) once I did a factory reset I set it up as a new phone and downloaded my apps from the play store, the only thing I didn't try was streaming music without any apps installed and just using Google play music to steam music via Bluetooth, without doing that it's hard to tell if it's a lg issue or a 3rd party app that is causing it

have you guys maybe trackID installed? for me bluetooth was off but i had this problem that bluetooth has stopped and uninstalling trackID solved it.
maybe i could help you
No TrackiD for me.
I seem to be able to make the error appear when I'm scrolling down Facebook news feed.
No error when Bluetooth is off.. but that's not an option for how I use my phone.
I don't have TrackID installed either.
I did a factory install last night and let my apps reinstall overnight. I'm not getting the error this morning and was able to drive to work listening to podcasts with no disconnections. So it's "fixed", for now at least, though I fully expect that it will return at some point in the future.
If I do a factory reset will I lose root? Thanks in advance

No, I was on stock Telstra modified firmware
use logcat to track the issue, it can be caused by bad data from apps, usually if you wipe the data it can be solved
try clear the bluetooth settings, it can be corrupt data
Factory reset, and restored from full LG Backup.
Haven't seen the issue for a couple of days.
I had this problem and found out the cause was Spotify, I uninstalled it and re-installed it and havent seen the issue for over a week now
The problem came back after a couple of weeks.. and is just constant.. even when factory reset back to stock and no apps installed.
Rooted phone. Froze 'Android Staten Webview'...believe issue resolved.
