Making a port of the latest and greatest RUU.
Not ready for release quite yet... but it's getting there. Moved to beta; screenshots below.

Issues:
MMS and video playback -- Encoding and decoding libs might fix talk to text as well... Looking into it.
Known issue for those that tried jikarantu's oc kernel in conjunction with beta...
Do not attempt to move your dalvic cache to sdcard; will cause bootloop. -- resolved with his newer kernel build.
In-team testers sign-in/register now closed [until next beta; release will have posted link]

You will get a pm [possibly with link] mid week. I don't like to release anything that is broke in anyway, but i haven't got it fixed yet; so, this is the best comprimise I could come up with [gives me two days to try].

I'm suprised no takers. I feel pretty good about this one. Perhaps a YouTube moment for the old man... Test 3 looked quite good I can test pretty decently by myself if no one's interested or possibly bump it straight to beta for some dress-up work if this build is the right recipe... gotta flash and test.

Oh, btw even though I'm a noob [apparently] I got data working; so, I suppose noobs that dev as a hobby do have some worth Still have to add us english and make some libraries better but it's fully functional. I don't like to lock myself into deadlines, but if you want to test, just say I want to test stipulation is.. it's unsupported until final release. I know there are things that can be improved upon as noted in OP, and I just don't need flash addicts to pop in and slow down those things getting fixed by saying "my bluetooth device worked with Virgin, but it doesn't work on this rom" or "do you think you could add American english?" It's beta; it's pretty darn good, but not yet the finished product (which I will support in this forum) So... you want to join beta testing team? It hasn't gone out; it goes out in say another 30 mins; at which time, I will update the OP with beta testing closed.
Guesstimation on release time... probably two weeks. Got to tweak the aforementioned things, add Team MarvelUS branding, etc. Could be more, could be less.

Hey guys! Today, I bring to you the ROM that I have been working on for the last few days. This is my first venture into actually editing android, aside from flashing ROMs and the like. Unless you live under a rock, pineapple, cardboard box, or the like, you have most likely heard about Android 4.1, also known as Jellybean!

After reading and watching videos about this new OS, I did get excited, but how would someone like me- A young, ambitious, unskilled developer-wannabe get a brand new OS working on our elderly, AOSP unsupported ARMv6 Optimus V?
The next best thing- something we already have; Android 4.0.4 aka Ice Cream Sandwich!
I spent the next week schmoozing through the internet for files related to 4.1-Apps, Wallpapers, ROMs, anything I can find.
I ended up with this- a half way attempt to get CM9 to look and function a bit like Jellybean! Welcome to Vanillabean! (Vanillabean= A mixture of Ice Cream [Ice Cream Sandwich with Vanilla Ice Cream] and Jellybeans!)

are the soft keys removable? ah I see you're working on it. Yes, please disable, it takes up too much real estate and is redundant

What's the issue with the camcorder? No sound in playback? If so, I encountered that problem in mrg666's CM7.2 rom. Post and resolution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31851031

sick looking ROM

Cannot send/receive texts
I tried this ROM and ran into one problem...I can't send or receive text messages, regular texts not picture messages.
Whenever i tried to send a text i get: Currently can't send your message. it will be sent when the service becomes available.
I am connected to 3G and can browse normally...any ideas what i could be missing?
So far i love this ROM, but the texting issue is keeping me away

You can resize the navbar, you have to decompile the framework-res.apk and the file is somewhere in the values folder I believe, if you want to completely disable it, go to the bools.xml file in the framework-res and look for a line that says something along the lines of hasnavbar or navagationbar and change the "true" value to false

Okay. Know issues.
*Random reboots. Temp fix is to bump min CPU up one step to 432
needs to be reset every boot. Set on boot not consistent.
* if a random reboot happens while on call.
You lose phone audio. Simply reflash build with out factory data reset will bring it back.
*MMS quick reply setting. If you use setting to wake and unlock when a message is received get a reply quickly. Screen will time out back to lock screen soon.
*Camera. Panoramic mode crashes. Don't use it.
*Aspire some times it seems widgets dissapear from the home screens. Unpredictable. Just replace them when you realize they won't return on their own.
Do Not Complain About these things or post about them. We know these things. If you do feel it necessary to post on these issues please also include a perm fix along with it.
Finding issues not listed here PLEASE include steps to recreate the problem, and a log cat if available.
Please do not post "music won't play"
This helps no one and pisses me off. Savvy?
Also I would like to have a video review on you tube if someone here can do that kind of thing. In depth review a plus

I didn't see this mentioned as a bug in the first post, but when installing apps I get a message saying process.android.acore has stopped. Doesn't do anything, but I can drop a log cat if you want.
Never mind I'm stupid and had flashed a non standard gapps package that was the issue.

ok. I'll bite. I just flashed this rom. here are some of the things i noticed.
Signal icon: for 3g it comes up as 4g, and for 4g it comes up as LTE. (latter not really a problem)
no random reboots yet.
no data or LTE toggles.
boot animation is amazing.
stock launcher is nice, but i still prefer 3rd party launchers.
no volume skip with screen off. aaaaaaaaaaaalmost a deal breaker for me.
LED notifications when screen is on = <3
OTA app is cool. too bad the blue theme isnt here yet.

One thing I've noticed I've had this problem with other roms. When trying to watch purchased tv shows on play movies and tv I get an error msg that my rental has expired. Any clue? Other videos play fine, just play movies and tv.

Anyone running one of the themes from OTA? I downloaded black widow, wiped cache AND dalvik before flashing and only got a 20 min boot loop.Any suggestions?

I can confirm that. Thankfully I had the wherewithal to nandroid. Patiently waiting till morning, I guess.

Why even Root a Perfectly good phone.

I have Rooted many phones mind you. Starting with the Windows back in the day. I must say that I have never been happier with a phone than I am with my Samsung Galaxy s III. Just curious as to why you would want to root Perfection? This is the first phone I have owned that I have never rooted. My wife is happy none the less because i am no longer sitting in front of the PC day in and day out changing my phone settings. :laugh:

Jelly bean leaks! That's reason enough for me especially since JoshBeach just released an update for his amazing Jelly Bean Jelly Bomb domination ROM! Tons of amazing roms and mods out! I couldnt help but root but like you said the phone is amazing rooted or not.

you answered your own question by stating "perfectly good". we make it great.

As good as this phone comes out of the box, it can be so much better. I've already put one of the JelllyBean leaks on mine and it's far better than ICS stock. Plus, I love being able to customize the look of it....just my opinion.

ROMs! I've been on JB for months now and it is nice! can't stand TW so I am always looking to load up stock Android and all the extra settings and customizations in CM are awesome, even simple ones like quiet hours i've come to depend on.

Because it's none of sprint's GD business if I want to watch netflix, hbo go, surf the web, or do anything else that I would do anyway, on the bigger screen of my tablet when I'm on the road.

I found another reason to root a "perfectly good phone" last night. For the past few days I was getting strange instances where the phone would seem to freeze up and then I would get an error of "Unfortunately, TestService has stopped. [OK]". I also noticed that I could no longer copy / paste text.
It seems that there is a bug that can cause the clipboard to become full or corrupted. There are only two known ways to correct the problem:
- Factory Reset,
- Empty the clipboard folder (Root required)
I am relieved that a maddening few days is over and my phone is working normally again.

And, to add, you can freeze offending apps too. Kind of the same as removing bloat.... Just saying...
