[Q] Issues following factory reset... - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

following my memory card crashing I stupidly performed a factory reset on my Xperia Arc...some aspects seem quite different now, one being the camera, may of the settings such as resolution options are now missing, all I have now are four; 8MP 4:3, 6MP 16:9, 2MP 4:3, 2MP 16:9
I'm pertty sure there were quite a few more.
The question is how do I get all of the updates which I originally installed back on the phone? When I go to the PC companion it simply tells me everything is up to date!!!
Cheers

Im pretty sure that all the resolutions available!

Maybe I imagined it then... so you all only have those 4 options for camera resolution?
It's strange when you know something is different but can't ut your finger on it!!

Thats it i believe.

Camera 360 v 2.1 vs stock camera

Hey friend yesterday i have purchased camera 360 v 2.1 but i am confused that which camera app is better stock one or this camera 360.....i am on android 2.3......can u please guide me.....thanks in advance
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Just use both for a while and choose the one you liked best.
Personally, I stay with the stock camera, but camera 360 has more options.
Sense cam is much better then camera360
Sense cam is better (for me)
Have u all used new version of camera 360 because it has lot of option and quality improvent from previous version.....i am using v 2.2.............and i used widescreen in both the app......in stock camera the picture clicked is of 1.45mb where as picture clicked through camera 360 is of 4.25 mb.......does it make any differnce......

Check the resolution's of both of those pictures then you can get to know which is better...generally pic's with high resolution are of higher mb.
Higher resolution=crispper picture .
HDR is the only advantage i feel that is there on camera 360 but that is available in the new sense 3.0 cam app , also you get panaroma mode aswell

Higher MB don't neccessarily mean higher resolution. It could mean lower compression for the jpegs that could be mistaken for higher quality (actually postprocessing of the picture from the sensor plays part in the quality before any compression).
I might be wrong but HDR on Camera360 is not HDR at all. To make proper HDR pictures you have to take several photos at different exposures and combine them to increase the dynamic range. What you get with Camera360 is a HDR-like effect that has nothing to do with actual HDR picture. In the camera API there is a control for the exposure setting and it can be used to automaticaly take three or more pictures at different settings then combine them with a HDR algorithm but so far I haven't found any software that does this (not that I've searched that hard anyway)
On topic: I've tried Camera360 but found it useless and I'm using the stock camera app when I don't have my DSLR with me.
HEy friends thanks for all your guidance......but u all are talking about sense 3.0 cam for htc desire hd.....i am having sense 2.0 in my htc desire hd ....i am having stock android gingerbread......can i have sense 3.0 cam on my stock rom......if yes than can you please guide me......i have tried htc evo sense 3.0 cam but it is getting force close.....

Well if u are rooted.. install any of the great roms posted here on XDA ..some of them have sense 2.0 cam by default...or u can try pushing 3.0 sense camera(search for the apk) through adb to system...if you dont know how to do it.. then read a bit..u will know..

Camera module from another Xperia?

Hi
Is it possible to replace Play's camera module for a NEO's 8Mp one or from another xperia 2011 phone, like Ray or Arc?
I've seen some disassembly videos and the connector seems to be the same in all of them.
Regards
I don't know but I'd imagine that it would require kernel modifications and would be an overly complex solution...
depend on rom..

Well i know if we have a Neo V and get the 8mp camera module of Neo and flash the Neo camera files we get a full Neo.
Since the conectors are the same the module should work i think and with that the camera files should work on Play.

Nothing?
I'm sure megapixel is hardware related. I doubt flashing a different camera would work
Kinda like asking "If I flash my NES could I make it into an Xbox360?"

I think he's talking about swapping out the physical module
that's why I said and ezadsyafiq99 said that it would certainly require software modifications (somehow I can't think of a wording that comes off less angry sounding; I'm just trying to explain

Well, like University answered, i was talking about switching the hardware camnera module from another phone (Neo,Arc) since in the Neo V you can use the 8mp module of Neo.

Well i will assume that isn´t just switch the module, also some libs and etc.., but i would like to know is if any one knows if there is a module that is plug and play (aside from the software mod).
If you switch the camera of the play for the neo, doesn't that mean you'll need to.switch the camera.apk because the one the play has the mp option up to 5mp

Well, if a camera module of Neo is hardware compatible, i will assume that i will need to change the camera.apk and libs and some more software related.
Hmm I was wondering something similar: my xperia s camera module is broken (only think broken after a 4 story fall!) and I can only find 8mp Neo modules online.
Do you think I can just swap it with my current module (as they are basically the same) or would it require APK fiddling?

I´m not 100% shure, in the Neo V it´s just switch the camera module with the Neo and flash the Neo firmware and all set, so i´ll assume that in Xperia 2011 range i could try to add a 8mp to the Play, my friend has a Neo V and he will make the upgrade to the 8mp, and i will try the 5mp of his Neo V on Play, if it works, so should the 8mp too.
In Xperia S it´s a new line up, but the software seems the same, if the conecctors are the same and since your warranty is gone, you could give it a go.
But still, i would search for the original since it´s 12mp, going to 8mp it´s a long downgrade.
Well, i already checked a camera module from Arc and Neo, none fits the Play, only hope is the Ray or Mini could fit.

[Q] App for panorama in CM7.2

I flashed official CM7(latest nightly) and I liked its performance. But I found out that the camera app was poor and it is not as good as the one in Samsung Stock firmware. Also, the panorama and smile shutter option is missing and there is no way to use flash in video mode. So I want to ask a few things...
1)Is there any good panorama apps in the market or somewhere else which is like the one in stock camera and which takes good pictures without blur? I need it very much!
2) Is there any way to enable flash in video recording?
3) Is there any app for smile shutter(I use it rarely anyway, mostly for showoff!
Thanks in advance!

What's the best camera app for xS

Hi, posting from my phone so I don't know if this had been asked already. But what app is best for the xperia s?
I want a app that doesn't reduce camera quality. The stock camera seems to reduce quality, especially noticeable when you zoom in.
Thank you

Gr8 camera apps from Lenovo flagship set. Try once and see the difference

I take no credits for this app/mod. Found a camera app from lenovo flagship set while searching on xperia z forum which worked perfectly on our device. Takes sharper image than our stock camera and less noise with super gallery.

Works very well on the One X.
The shots taken are significantly less noisy than ones taken with CameraZoomFX and MUCH better than those taken with the ****TY aosp camera.
Lots of cool settings as well such as low light and HDR.
Overall, love it! This will now be my camera app from now on.
Thanks for making us aware of this.

Me too. Could it be because I'm using the zero-compression camera driver, or does that have nothing to do with it? I'm on Sense 5, btw.
As a side note, I installed it on my wife's Xperia S, and she can choose up to the maximum 12 MP that the camera offers.

this app is made for intel SoC based phones therefore there are then some issues like heating because of wrong use of cpu or other things like some laggy things or this camera resolution issue...this app has some nice features but those are also in other camera apps which aren't overheating or lagging
make phone go *hot* and laggy with fish eye + stuck on brust mod.
Phone hangs after a HDR photo taken.

No issues with MagioROM here..just a little bit confused with the menus and need more time to explore the settings..
But overall qualiity is nice..just 5MP quality to choose, but that's ok for me..
Does work fine on the latest InsertCoin Sense 5 but its very laggy!

Not that laggy for me. It appears that 5MP is the max under Sense, but I can use the full 8MP in AOSP based roms.
