No not till cm lands!
You won't have the tablet notification bar but you still can change the DPI to fit more on the screen
I personally use ROM Toolbox to do this, pretty simple

Love the signature lol
Looks like there's no way to do it unless you have a rooted device.

Anyone know how to disable Tablet UI while running ICS?

If your rooted you can change the screen density to 180 or more ...the only thing is you'll have to run nova launcher or other launcher cause the stock will fc

If by UI you are talking about the system bar. If you rooted you can use gesture control from the play store to make it hide. It works well, but some times reset the wallpaper but the dev has a simple fix in the description.

Thanks for your input guys. I will change density and report back
Sent from my A100
unfortunately changing the density does not force cm9 into non-tablet mode. icons did seem to get a bit smaller but the phone-style navbar never showed up. I see there are a lot of threads on how to force a phone to use the tablet UI but nothing about getting a tablet to use the phone UI.
A toggle in the settings to enable/disable tablet UI would be awesome
I did it on my a100 running flex .....when I did it I set it to 180 or 200 .....the stock launcher fc I then launched nova and bam the phone status bar appeared ....not sure why it wouldn't be the same in cm9

Rom toolbox offers density control and I know there's another in the market but I've never used it. Like density control or modder or something like that.

LCD density for ROOT is the app I used

So, it works on cm9, but how do I get the on screen button for the phone UI????
Sent from my A100 using Tapatalk 2
I never did get this working :'(
Flex Rom: after I changed the density and restarted it gets tuck in a bootloop
CM9: density change works but the bottom Nav buttons don't show up
I'm gonna ask some one I know who devs for the Xoom and see what he has to say.
In the meantime if anyone has any concrete answers or recommendations please post.
Someone that is willing to try, can try to get us on screen buttons for the cm9 with this....

Tempting. I would love to get this working.
For some reason I don't really like the tablet UI on the A100.

OK...I may be missing the point not here but let's see.
You want the phone status bar and pull down, right? But I assume keeping the nav bar at the bottom for back home recent and menu?
If so then yes the framework will need to be modded for it. Are you trying this for cm9 or stock or what, it'll be rom specific. I can see about doing it on cm9 but stock will have to wait until I reflash flex reaper.

lol well while I appreciate that, I just build from source, the team is doing the hard work.
I'll see about getting it going on CM9, if I can get it figured out on there, it'll be pretty straight forward for stock based ROMs. Since flex reaper has so many mods, it may or may not interfere with those mods, meaning if you apply a mod, then apply the status bar mod, it may overwrite the FR mod. Make sense?
I managed to get a touch CWM working, so I have some spare time to throw at this too.
Nice! If you need a tester....

If you mean CWM Touch, [email protected] also got one going, posted in the thread about that, I got mine going a few hours ago and PMed him the link, but my xda is all scrambled so I never made a post for it.
If you mean this status bar thing, sure no problem I'll put it up when/if I figure it out.
Been using tapatalk all day and its making my face hurt.
Welli actually meant both but way more interested in Phone UI mod

As anyone got a multi density play store? I'm running liquid ROM and I've changed the density to 180 but now I'm missing most of my apps?? I use LCD density modder pro but I don't think it supports jellybean

Market senses your resolution and determine if you need this or that. What is your goal for 180? Small phone mode?
Won't you use EOS rom and choose tablet mode to save some screen space.
Eventually they'll have the navigation bar height mods that make the navigation bar thinner. Its too fat in phone mode but tablet mode it feels right.

What he wants is a modded GSF.apk and Phonesky.app with a hard coded DPI value of 213 so changing your DPI won't affect market compatibility.

Search xposed installer/apk.

Or you could use a custom launcher and set more rows and columns. I use Nova now and have a 8 rows x 6 columns screen.

That is not my concern. I would like to see more of webpages, and generally everything... it's like 480p vs 1080p in the TV world. DPI changes the 'density' of the screen across the whole OS.

Balls.
Normally true but when not on tw roms I've used the following app consistently with no issues. It provides an in-app process that mods the play store apk. Besides, you can always change dpi to stock and get whatever apps you want and revert your dpi. But hey, let's keep giving people half the story.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction I appreciate it. I found this to be a better solution that I counted on.
In case anyone is interested in getting more out of their S3's TW display check out this post and download the zip with 2 apks and install them. Learn more about how this mod works here. The neat thing about this is approach is that it works similarly to how PA roms work. Basically, each app can be individually set with whatever DPI you want on the fly with no need to reboot in order to see changes. I tweaked DPI settings for Nova launcher, Gmail, Web browsers to start and it works on 747z rom for me ATM. I even set the SytemUI.apk to 280. This has a bug that that causes a thin bar under the notification bar to appear; it doesn't bother me though as the tradeoff for more notifications in the pull down is a plus for me. What's nice is you can tailor each apps display however you wish instead of picking one value for the whole OS!
To top it all off, you can leave Play store alone and download apps till tomorrow morning
Hey there!
So I installed MIUI now which is quiet beautiful. Buuuuuuuuuuuuut.... I'm coming from another ROM and used to have my device for a year @ 180dpi - 220dpi. Now... this is just... ugly. The default is set to !!!320DPI!!!. Everything is so big, my grandma could easily hit every icon without her glasses.
So I tried to change the dpi to 220 using Rom toolbox, the only problem: stock keyboard
I really really like the samsung stock keyboard and now that it is back because of MIUI I don't wanna really miss it. I use the numbers really often and it's handy to have a number line just at the top.
>> Is it possible to have a Samsung Stock Keyboard working at 220DPI without any blank gaps and force closes?
Thanks alot!
Use the 240dpi one from bala_gamers thread.

Try this for keyboard http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=&d=1366489557 also when you change the DPI in Miui you will notice that the frame layout of the home screen and settings menu are out of place.

Hey buddy , how were you able to bring down the screen dpi to 180 - 220. I am currently using cm 10.1.3 on the note 2 n7100 but i am unable to change the screen dpi. the entire rom looks ugly on the 320 dpi. Just a waste of screen space. Could you help me with the steps you took to reduce the screen dpi from 320 to say 240 or lesser...?
Using exposed and app settings does anybody know what process or application I modify the DPI of in order to affect the size of the notification pull down?
SystemUI. However, it leaves a little bar at the top that apps don't draw on. It's like Samsung hard coded the number of pixels to use. If someone has a fix for that, I'd love it.

I got around it by changing dpi via build.prop. I needed the status bar and notification space. Without root and dpi changes there isn't near enough room for all my note is doing.

I'll have to try that. I've been avoiding it as some of the Samsung apps didn't handle it well on the note 2.

They still don't. You have to use xposed to set those back to 480.

The Note 2 is a 720 screen and the Note 3 is a 1080 so the DPI settings will be very different. I personally have been using 340 and like it. I would use 340 as a base line and go up or down from there to fine tune the size to your liking.
Thanks. That is perfect. Looks a lot better with that dpi, comparable to how I had my n2 in terms of real estate.

Is there a setting that can edited to make the status bar to go to the bottom? I'm missing that from my note 2 with the phablet view.
