Any way to change the dpi on tw roms these days? Love tw but what a waste of a large screen!

Or you could use a custom launcher and set more rows and columns. I use Nova now and have a 8 rows x 6 columns screen.

That is not my concern. I would like to see more of webpages, and generally everything... it's like 480p vs 1080p in the TV world. DPI changes the 'density' of the screen across the whole OS.

Balls.
Normally true but when not on tw roms I've used the following app consistently with no issues. It provides an in-app process that mods the play store apk. Besides, you can always change dpi to stock and get whatever apps you want and revert your dpi. But hey, let's keep giving people half the story.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction I appreciate it. I found this to be a better solution that I counted on.
In case anyone is interested in getting more out of their S3's TW display check out this post and download the zip with 2 apks and install them. Learn more about how this mod works here. The neat thing about this is approach is that it works similarly to how PA roms work. Basically, each app can be individually set with whatever DPI you want on the fly with no need to reboot in order to see changes. I tweaked DPI settings for Nova launcher, Gmail, Web browsers to start and it works on 747z rom for me ATM. I even set the SytemUI.apk to 280. This has a bug that that causes a thin bar under the notification bar to appear; it doesn't bother me though as the tradeoff for more notifications in the pull down is a plus for me. What's nice is you can tailor each apps display however you wish instead of picking one value for the whole OS!
To top it all off, you can leave Play store alone and download apps till tomorrow morning

Anyone came up with an app for this?
I am not a fan of launchers running on top of any ROM and I read a lot about issues with apps and playstore after using LCD Density.
I currently switched from iPhone to Galaxy S3 and while the phone is great, icons are just not adequate to the screen.
There is an app called Bigify for iOS, is there anything at least similar for Android devices?
The main 3 options I am looking for:
1. change icon size
2. change angle of the icons by xy degrees (it looks fantastic!)
3. remove icon text
Here is a SS:
This actually would be very nice as it bothers me when the apps name is cut off because it's too long.. So being able to remove the text would be great!

Apex Launcher allows you to remove the app text or modify the title/icon. You cannot rotate it though.
Op running a different launcher has no actual problems
Say your using nova as default the phone won't have stock tw launched running in the background unless you open again

I am sorry but how are these answers to my question? As far as I am reading it correct I need to have a launcher and I cannot get a any angle and no name icons at the same time

It's what you asked for. They honestly helped you as much to their abilities.
That being said if you want angled apps look into making it yourself. I know that is not much of a answer you're looking but as of right now as far as I have seen there are no apps or mods to rotate apps.

There's one launcher that'll let you have the customization you want. It's rather expensive though.

Root your phone install a recovery and install paranoid android, google it, i think youll like it.
I got TFS Launcher and it runs great. I do have one question though.... Isn't there always a Launcher running over a rom? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to run any apps.

We all know that by default you can activate the rotation of the screen but the main desktop and the App Drawer won't do that. So in few words what's your solution?
Leave it as stock
Use the True Tablet UI Patch
Use a launcher
Use TTUI Patch + Launcher
ParanoidAndroid Rom
Really curious to know what you have done!
I use nova launcher.
+1 for Nova

Holo Launcher seems to do the trick you are looking for. Matter of fact, most of the third party launchers would let you do landscape desktop and app drawer.
I use nova launcher , but if u want a stock launcher with rotation Modaco launcher it's a good choise!!!

Looking at these posts looks like no one used the "True Tablet UI Patch" or the stock launcher....
force_enable_rotation=true @local.prop
stock launcher.

yup. the thread title's "Rotate topic", not true tablet UI. for tablet UI, u change it the DPI to 160. but i dont like that. too small screen.
but yeah, this doesn't rotate the lock screen though. not that i can't swipe up/down instead of left/right.......

Actually the topic is "your solution for..." the rotate topic So checking answers looks like most of the people just use another laucher.
But the one you posted in few words is for what? I mean for the way I read your answer this doesn't make anything different than the "rotate" funcion in the notification bar. Or it also allows to rotate the main desktop and the app drawer?

Actually, the funny thing is I have added this mod. It doesn't rotate the time on the lock screen but you still swipe to the right to unlock ... (toward bottom if you were in portrait mode)...no dpi changes or any other mods needed. I'm on rooted, unlocked stock ROM.
What I really wanna know is where I can mod the home screen to scroll continuously...I haven't looked yet. I have the setting on my phone, but haven't played with the N7 enough to find it yet.
I use Apex. Paid for the Pro version of it, over Nova, since Apex offered... less features for the Pro version (in other words, Nova had a lot of stuff in Pro that was non-existent in the free, and I don't like feeling like I "have" to pay in order to use an app efficiently...)
I used launcher.force_enable_rotation=true inside a new local.prop file in /data. I always use portrait mode and a pin in the lock screen, so portrait only in lock screen is fine by me.
My biggest issue was when in landscape, if I went back into home I would have to rotate from landscape to portrait, then back into landscape and if I pressed a button by mistake again, back into portrait.
I tried the change build.prop dpi settings but didn't like tablet UI for this little thing..... and I don't want to squint.
Tried ultimate rotation control which works great, it also rotates the lockscreen, but costs something like £2 after a 7 trial vs what I use now.

So you paid for less features in general out of principal?
Or did Apex have more free features compared to Nova, and the Pro versions equalled things out on both sides?

Yes, sorry for not being clear. That tweak to local.prop is to rotate the main desktop and app drawer, just not the lock screen.
The GUI dpi change tweak it's for a complete tablet ui

another launcher (because the default one doesn't have enough features for my taste anyway)
I don't know why some of your options are listed, like paranoidandroid rom, wtf.
Most custom roms include a landscape launcher. This shouldn't be that complicated. The stock launcher simply doesn't do landscape without tweaks. If you run stock, just download Nova or Apex.
I run EOS and its built in tablet mode with Apex.

apex launcher, tablet mode at 160dpi :good:
IMHO apex (free) is the best
I am REALLY struggling with this. I have installed a bunch of different SMS apps but prefer stock (use clipboard, LED function....) Any suggestions how I can do this? Turning the system font size down doesn't change my messaging conversation font. I would prefer to use the default sms app with the Note 2, but is there any way I can make the font smaller than what the volume keys allow me to do?
Even all the way down the messages are huge (I can only see 2-3 with the keyboard open) and like 8 without it open. For privacy reasons I'd also like it smaller so everyone around me can't read all my messages while it's open...
Try the app settings app in the xposed thread you can set the dpi or font to anything you want in any app

You need to be rooted to install the app but once the xposed installer is installed you can unroot and all the modules will still work. The per app dpi is well worth rooting for, you can have a lot of apps in tablet mode

so i managed to get the icons smaller with textdroider dpi.its marginally smaller, but still takes up a lot of the screen as its auto aligned to a grid.is there an app to make it not auto aligned, something like on windows where you can put icons anywhere.

Yeah, Go is bloated. Nova is awesome. Also, if you are using Gosmspro, try Chomps instead.
I just bought the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and not sure if I can get used to the font size throughout. Some reading apps have the option to increase font size but many apps don't
I know I can make adjustments using Xposed Framework. I just want to avoid tripping Knox given the device is so new. Hoping there is another way to make adjustments.
Have you tried the basic changes under settings/device/display/fonts ?

I have - it seems to just adjust the font size for the device settings. Doesn't do anything to Chrome, OneNote and pretty much any app I opened where the font is a bit small

Try using settings/system/accessibility/vision/font size/.
I ended up rooting, installing xposed / app settings, and changing the dpi to the apps I wanted to adjust. I'm fine now
