Sound volume in JB 4.2 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello guys,
for those who has tested the new 4.2 stock, i would have a question about volume.
Have they improved it from 4.1 or it is a bit low yet?
Thanks in advance!

Seems pretty low to be honest - I've actually missed a couple of Whatsapp messages even though my phone was really close by. Waiting for some custom ROM/kernel goodness to bring it back up to the levels we know and love.

Yeah, that was my hunch... i'm on Minco Rom, and i think i'm gonna wait the new version based on 4.2
thanks for advice!

Yup it's decreased... But for some reason for me only when listening music... I watched a YouTube video and it was loud as before, then I switched to music instantly and barely heard how it decreased itself... Weird Google..

I use voodoo sound on my sgs. Wouldn't use a rom or phone without it. This entices me a little more to get a GNex.

The general sound improvement on the SGS1 with voodoo-sound compared to stock was night and day. Seriously.
So good in fact that coming to the Galaxy Nexus was a bit of a bummer. It's not as good as the SGS1 with Voodoo sound.
The SGS1 went from beeing averagely OKish to ZOMG IS THIS IMPROVEMENT SOFTWARE ALONE? It completely revived my Shure earbuds and my entire MP3 library.
If Francis can do anything remotely close to that on my Galaxy Nexus, there is absolutely nothing on this phone I will be complaining about.

Lol. Atm, and the big picture is don't have time to look at the details. I wasn't looking for an answer like josteink gave. I am looking for a short precise answer like it it custom equalizer, supercurio enhanced, something like audio enhanced or does it correct some flaws in the chip or fill in the gaps. I see too many posts about how good it is rather than why it's good. That's all. Haven't been on xda much lately. Breaking in new equipment and getting more. Video and audio equipment actually. Miss plasma. And great stereo. I am seriously considering getting a turntable because even with vinyl's flaws there is a lot to be enjoyed with it and I miss that.

Any users coming from the Galaxy Nexus?

Hey, it's mod, and i was wondering if there is anyone who made the switch from the Galaxy Nexus to the Galaxy S III. If so, do you prefer it over the Gnex? Or do you miss AOSP Jellybean/ICS. I'm thinking of upgrading to the Galaxy S III off contract because of an issue my Gnex is having so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am considering making the switch over. I love the GNex. Maybe I'm just a little bored with it? Though I do get bored with my phones easily.
The camera is making me want S3. And I also wouldn't switch over if there wasn't a good AOKP/CM10 ROM for the phone. I will likely get the S3, and then that same day install AOKP or CM10.

Trying to get back on topic...
I had a Galaxy Nexus for a couple months on Verizon before switching to AT&T and getting the GS3. I figured if I didn't like it I could sell it and buy the GSM Nexus off contract. So far I'm happy with it. The two phones seem to perform about the same for me. The GS3 has a slightly faster processor and more RAM, but I think the difference between stock Android and TouchWiz balances out the better specs. I fully expected to flash an AOSP ROM shortly after getting the phone, but I actually like some of the feature of TouchWiz such as the quick SMS after hanging up from a call (I've always thought voicemail was silly). Battery life has been about the same, possibly a little better on the GS3. I'm assuming the larger battery is balanced out by having more processes running on the phone.
Overall, I'm happy with the decision to switch to the S3 instead of getting another Nexus. I love the inclusion of an SD card slot plus the larger screen. The only thing I don't like is the decision to use a physical home button. I'm fine with going with capacitive buttons instead of the navigation bar, but I don't like having a physical button apart from the power/volume. It's obviously not a big enough issue to make me regret the phone.

Depends on if you can go without Bluetooth, and Camera and the other random things that may happen in your experience with it. But the new touch wiz isn't that bad so you may be able to deal until something stable drops.

Possible fix for JB/CM10/AOKP low volume issue?

My co worked who used to have an ET4G and now has a Galaxy Nexus stumbled upon this MOD. Knowing how must of us running any jb ROM have low headphones/aux issues I thought I could post this to try and help.
There is a tiny problem though.... I flashed this last night. I successfully booted my phone but once everything loaded my phone froze up and just powered cycled. I tryied flashing it with different gapps combinations and different jb ROMs. So with that said... do any of you devs or anyone that want to try to modify this MOD for our phones?? Maybe it will bring a solution this this bug?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to try this and provide some input

Might be a kernel thing? Who knows.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one with the audio problem but from my short testing in my car it seemed to only be music related, I'm using double twist. When I got a text message the ringtone was alot louder than the music itself and the volume setting on that was only around half as loud. Things use to be the other way around on ICS. Like someone else posted hopefully there can be a fix soon because I'm loving JB.

Sent from my E4GT by using THE FORCE
From what I can tell from my testing on the E4GT, your headphone and bluetooth volumes are tied to the speaker media volume originally. I haven't seen it in any other builds of CM10, but it seems fairly common in the E4gT's roms.
Where are the nightly builds posted? I don't see it on thier official site

Low volume

Hello everybody
Some of you might noticed that the volume in some apps (youtube, navigon...) or even media (mp3) is quite low.
This issue is fixed in many roms like cm, xylon and so on.
I want to know if there is any possibility to increase the volume output on 4.2.1 stock, without having root.
thx
Yeah I would like to know too. My iPod touch is a whole lot louder! What gives Google?
Would love to know this too. In fact, the low volume makes me miss quite a few calls and messages during the day when I'm not in the same room as my phone. Also when I show someone a YouTube video the audio is sometimes near impossible to hear on the speaker. Would love to stick with the stock ROM so I hope there is an easy fix.

Make sure you installed the V6beta2 if you are on 4.2 or 4.2.1. There are two different ones. One is for 4.1.2 which I think the latest build is called "V5Omega" it's in the 1st post and the other is for 4.2 and 4.2.1 which the latest build is called "V6beta2" and that's his 3rd post. [Q] Sprint Galaxy S3 on LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 JellyBean Beta 2, Problem with headset

Me again.
I posted a few hours ago about a problem with my SMS and text messages not being sent if they were over 160 characters. After receiving help about that and since I'm trying to hit my 10 post mark, I figured I'd make another thread about the other problem I'm having.
So I'm running LiquidSmooth JellyBean 4.2.1 Beta 2 on my Sprint Galaxy S3 and I love it. The only problem I am having is that my headset, a basic Skull Candy headset with the button to stop/play music, mute/unmute calls and also fast forward and rewind music does not seem to be working. I mean I can hear music through them fine and the mic works fine for calls, but the button no longer works on this custom ROM. It was working fine on 4.1.1 stock.
Anyone else have this issue? Any help would be appreciated. It's not a big deal but it is nice being able to cut off my music without even taking out my phone.
Its most likely because JB 4.2 is still in development and doesn't have all the hardware features of the stock ROM built in yet
Definitely sounds like this is the issue since you said you had no problems on a TW rom

Yeah I know what you mean...but the good thing is that there are many talented devs working on this and even if they still cant get it, Samsung will be releasing 4.2 for the S3 sometime soon, so they can build from that if necessary
