Has anyone noticed that when you start a new note, there's about a 3-5 second lag between the time you tap and when the new note opens?
Is there a setting to speed that up?
Thanks
Nope I have not found anything. I also get this lag

Same here...nothing but damn lag.

I only get lag on this phone creating a new note like OP... otherwise this phone is amazing!
Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue??
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Edit: I thought perhaps everyone had this issue but I noticed that qbking77 had little to no load time on his s note app on his s pen review video.
Mine takes roughly a second to start writing a new note. The quick note, double tap with the pen button, is instant though.
I did disable Idea Sketch and moved some the templates off the SD card so they don't load.
Strange... When I try to disable my idea Sketch it only allows me to force close, no disable option. And every time I start a new note I need to choose a template so I'm not sure that will do any good.
@Chrissssssss are you running a custom ROM?

is there any tweak or solution for the very slow response of the SNote app ? whenever I make a new note it takes more than 3 to 4 seconds just to load a new note
It's the same for me actually. So is it normal or is it just us ?

I had a Note I (sti have it) and you should see the S Note of that... Loading a Note takes literally 6 to 7 seconds... In my Note II the pages are formed like turning the page of a copy...so smooth. ... No prob with me...
There is a delay in selecting the paint or pen brush from tool menu... is that delay you talking about

Well that delay is much greater in Note II and thats annoying....
But adding a page took lightyears on Note I...also doing anything! As much as exporting an image etc
I guess you guys have to wait a little for samsung to optimize the app.
i got a SERIOUS delay sometime using Snote with Spen....switch between brush type and brush size....draw....delay about 3-10sec....really so annoying and i found no solution....dunno why = =
I hope any developer of those famous custom ROMs would take notice of such thing

I love this keyboard because of the auto correct feature and the amount of options you can choose. For some reason while I'm typing sometimes it will do double letters and it's at random. Sometimes it will look like this "HHey what aree you doing?" Am I the only one with this issue. Using it on my completely stock AT&T galaxy s3.

I haven't experienced that issue but it will ocasionally say I hit a letter than I didnt

It's my favourite keyboard, I use it every day in the past 10 months or so, didn't have this problem either. (Used it on atrix, vivid and hox). Maybe the screen is a little too sensitive?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is no way of adjusting the sensitivity of the screen from my understanding. I just am curious if I'm the only one to have this problem or if someone else has experienced it at all doing the same thing. I don't know I'll try not typing so light and see if that makes a difference. If someone has had this problem and they fixed it please let me know how.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Has anyone seen if maybe it's the speed at which you're typing. If I type slow its not so bad. If I start typing faster it starts putting the double letters. Just trying to figure this out. Thanks for the information in advance.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I have the same issue. I type pretty fast and it always has that double letter issue and even sometimes has double words even though I only enter it once. I decided to stick with the stock ics keyboard from the play store which works great without any typos with my quick typing

Who is the developer of the keyboard you're using?

I definitely have this issue, and am using 4.6.00.147 version of the app (the most recent I believe) as I don't see any update in the Play Store. I love this keyboard, but this part of it is very frustrating. So much to the point that I went back to the stock AOSP keyboard, but I want this to be fixed.
EDITED: I've reached out to the developer to see if there is any idea on what's causing/how to fix. I will post any updates if I get any that are constructive.
I just discovered the Quick Glance function where you wave your hand over an off screen and the screen turns on to show you some notifications.
I love it.
Only problem is that it's super slow on my phone. Average screen on time is about 5 seconds so it's much easier and faster to just hit a button to turn on the phone.
Is this function slow on everyone's phone? I am using apex launcher and swift key if it matters.

I've noticed it can be reasonably responsive after a reboot. But right now at my desk, its taking about 2 seconds to come on.
Mine takes several seconds too. I turned it off for that reason plus it uses the proximity sensor at all times. Go into a dark room and look at the phone, you'll notice a dull red glow from the prox sensor. I didn't like what that must be doing to my battery especially since the sensors don't show up in the battery stats so that you can see exactly how much it's using.
Yep, it's really slow for me too. Half the time I wonder if I swiped the sensor properly or not. Turned it off.

Slow for me as well.....also worried about what its going to do for battery life too.

I see the same battery life with it on or off. 5-6 hours screen on time depending on what I'm doing and what's running in the back ground. And yes mine takes 2 seconds to come on too which doesn't bother me at all.

Maybe you not waving your hand right. I know that sound stupid but after a while playing with it when I first got the phone it took a while for me to learn how to actually get it to work, you wave your hand a distance away from the screen. If you do it to close it won't come on.

It is. But I like the lil cool factor it has when people see me use it as opposed to the home button. When I use home button I get Samsung is trying to get as similar to Apple as possible. But I do like the home button lol

My quick glance also gets slower after a while, but once I restart the phone, it becomes quite fast again (within 1 second).

What do you think will be the next update for the GNII to improve it to be more like a tablet? Any ideas?
Swyped by Me & My GNII
I was wondering the same thing, but to be totally honest with you, it's already like too perfect. I really don't know anything else that can be done to it to make it any better except maybe, being able to use the voice feature on it without being connected to the Internet? Just my 2 cents.

Being able to designate which apps are by default started in full-phone or full-tablet UI mode would be great.

I really doubt they will enable tablet mode, they have tablets for that. That and for most people the screen is still to small from the tablet UI. heck even the Nexus 7 runs the same UI as the Note 2 does

Paranoid android and king kang had roms that would run specific apps in tablet mode on my old epic 4g touch. It would be great to see our phones added to their development......

I don't know, I think the whole phablet thing had many hesitant about this phone. I sincerely hope you're right though. I love CM10, PA, and other similar ROMS but they take so much time to get fully functional. I just hope there is Dev out there who will jump in and take it on for our Sprint variant.
the note II is anything but perfect. I have a lot of "gripes" with it.
first 320dpi. seriously? is that a joke I could not root it fast enough to get it going at 240dpi. Ahhh so much better
burst mode is borked. the huge delay built into the implimentation on the Note II renders is useless. as a temp fix use best shot its instant but only 8 shots.
on my S3 I can assign my favorite upload method (imgur for pictures youtube for video) as defaults. just tap the imgur or youtube icon and its going
this is GONE in the NOTE II I have to tap share and scroll to my selections EVERY TIME. very annoying once you got used to the S3 way.
toggles are gone. so I can't turn off mobile data etc.. on the Note II easily from the pull down like I can on the S3.
Hi,
Is there any way to enable on screen buttons on note 2 ? I just need back and home button on it.
Thanks
Not at the moment. you can edit build.prop but things get all messed up.
Just download button savior for now. I have it setup where back and home pops out of the left side and goes bck in withiin a second once used. very convenient and minimal. Doesn't take up much space like all the other wannabe button apps.
OPPAN NOTE 2 STYLE!!!
You can I do its throws a couple of things out of wack. Tw launcher. I use apex though. The camera, cuts of half of the shoot button and the diailer also call log your last call ........ im used to it the buttons are of more help to me then the problems are trouble...." qemu.hw.mainkeys=0"

Not sure why anyone would want to edit the build.prop, it messes up all the dimensions. Here is a pic of what i am talking about. Button Savior simple clean and works. Everything is configurable, from button locations, size, numbers of them, how long before it goes away etc ..
