(App)Get rid of widgets on lockscreen 4.2! - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

This isn't my work but it works perfect. It seems everyone has same opinion on the annoying lock screen widgets and the way they were implemented.

That'll come in handy.. Thanks for the heads up.. Agreed.. 4.2's lockscreen is easily one of the top 5 worst new features I've ever seen put in an Android build.. I think of it in the same light as I thought of Active Desktop on Windows 98.. It's one step away from having animated under construction gifs and broken image geocities links.

So I for some reason I can't get the play store to let me install this. Ply store errors out and the web says not compatible!
Fixed. Had to delete and re add my Google account....

Agreed. Its just too clunky with too much going on. How it was before was perfect.

(Q) Alternative to Widgetsoid?

It seems this Widgetsoid has been abandoned. The battery info switch doesn't display the correct battery info from the setting.
I contacted the author and got no answer.
So what do you use for toggle settings widget?
Widgetsoid was very good and powerful btw.

It works yes, but if I click it, I got the phone info from the settings.
And not the battery details information.
Extended Controls is not compatible with ICS yet, I read on it's market entry. They are working on it though.

Exactly, especially because I paid for it. Well, for such an inexpensive price, I won't complain much. But this kind of developer attitude make me sad.

FWIW, if you visit the dev's Facebook and Twitter pages, he mentioned this week that updates are on hold because his computer crashed and took his source code with it. He's trying to find a backup, but in the meantime it might be worth a try to contact him via either of those for help with the battery info issue.
Ok, hope he will update soon ...
Great to know it wasn't abandoned!

I use Notification Toggle. It also looks nice with the ICS blue. I paid for extended controls but havent used it in so long ever since Gingerbread.....too many bugs. Quicker is another good app ive used but i like a set of toggles that mimics touchwiz and/or cyanogenmod and this app does that nicely.

I purchased extended controls too. Its a good app.
I've tried several, 'extended control', 'widgetsoid' and switchpro:
- ec and widgetsoid can use notification bar
- none of them can activate the flash
- none of them can activate the gps, only redirect to the settings page, widgetsoid developer states in the facebook page that is an ICS security limitation but official widget is able to activate/desactivate the gps!
- only ec can activate/desactivate wifi tethering
- battery status is ok
- all of them are resizable with BRD Launcher at 241 DPI but not of all them can be installed directly from the market
Until GPS problem is fixed i'm keeping the official widgets

It surprises me that people who work on computers or computer related tech fail to back their stuff up.

You can use button savior (play store) or lmt launcher (xda) to get to a menu button.

Google play update

Google play finally has the ability to delete uninstalled apps from your downloaded
List. I've been waiting for this for a long time.
Works on nexus 7.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...bility-to-remove-apps-from-the-all-apps-list/
Awesome, still waiting for my update to be pushed out. Been waiting for that feature a long time.
Now all they need to do is add a feature to hold the list in the same place you left it once you've removed an app...
I swear I've got muscles in my fingers like Schwarzenegger's got in his arms from all the swiping I've done today, removing three years worth of junk apps, and having to scroll down 20+ pages every single time... :/

They should also add a list of purchased apps. You might have bought something that's not necessarily currently installed as it was removed for space reasons.
Just flashed gapps again after updating my ROM. Wonder if I got sent to the back of the queue line lol.
I believe they used to have more tabs. Would like to see a sort option or at least separate by paid/free.

Best GNote 2 Review and UI set up I have seen

The UI this guy has set up is just freaking amazing. I hate to be that guy, but im going to copy the sh*t out of it haha! Its just so different and I doubt I will run into anyone with something similar. He also does give a really great review of the device

I love his work and did the exact same to my original note and even my s3. I eventually switched back to stock and the only reason was because most all third party apps I use don't have a landscape mode. So I'm constantly switching from portrait to landscape instead of staying in landscape which bugged me.

http://www.youtube.com/user/coldfustion - Yup I'm no fan of TW (or most any stock grid icon UI really) & always replace the launcher etc immediately (I like the vast customizability of Go Launcher-effects settings & the app is free-what is their revenue model-some kind of future freemium revenue model?) & am a big fan of 3D elements & nice widgets as long as the system doesn't lag..
Many people apparently like or are at least OK with that super simple grid icon UI but it seems way too basic+dull to me. When I help people with their devices they often don't make any changes to stock UI except wallpaper-lockscreen photo so I doubt you will be running into many with something similar

"Chat heads" coming soon to Paranoid Android ROM

Anyone see this yet?

Based on their Google+ page this won't be as simple to put into other ROMs as Pie. They said that there is a lot of new code and changes made that will make it very difficult to put into other ROMs. I guess we'll see though.
I guess I just don't see the point. It's always awesome to have new features implemented, buy why? What does this solve that the notification bar does not already do? Maybe I'm just not getting it.

Facebook Messenger chatheads are the main inspiration behind this. They say that the way the notification shade works now interrupts the flow of using your phone too much. This is supposed to remedy that by making it more accessible.

So if you've never used the feature, why talk bad about it?
But..its good to use as you can stay in a app and still easily send messages and see what they say and a picture can also be shown of said contact which is what's in the "bubble"
Quite frankly it blows my mind none of these other big names in instant messaging apps haven't even bothered to take this and adapt to their own.
I give props to the dev team behind Facebook for thinking it up.
I used it on iOS but to my surprise after using it on Android its severely limited on iOS that you can only use the chat heads or bubbles while only be in the actual Facebook Messenger app. On Android as long as your signed in you can get these little contact bubbles anywhere, and you can move the bubble anywhere on the corners of the screen or drag and drop to the trashcan to close it.
Here's Facebook Messenger chat heads being demoed

In no way did I "talk bad" about it. I stated very clearly, several times, that I do not understand the novelty of it. I did not, previously, understand what it offers over the notification drop-down. Now I do understand.
Thanks for explaining.
Here's a video preview of Halo
It's looking good so far, I can't wait to try it out!
Looks promising, though if it would hide more than 15% of the halo bubble, say, adjustable up to 90% hidden or transparent when not in use, that would make it a must have for every custom ROM.

I'm sure there will be options to be able to customize how it's hidden.
So technically this iantvlike multi window where you can do 2 things side by side
Its cool but I rather cornerstone if any developers dare To try as was done with the tf300

I don't understand why other ROM Devs won't put this in their ROM ..this is basically rewriting the way Android does notifications and for the better IMO
So if the other ROM devs won't jump on this I'll be jumping ship to PA ROM also.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I'd really like to see some competition between PA and, idk CM or AOKP to get notifications done right.
PA I think is on track, but it would be interesting to see something like the bb10 hub (or an inspired new concept... Not just a Facebook feature ripoff) in CM or AOKP. Just to see what school of thought may win.
