What kernel are you using? I usually uv by -25mV each step and start from there. In the Original Android Development section, Ktoonsez has a kernel and on the OP he lists what his voltage settings are....or at least a decent starting point.
I am currently using Agat v0.3.2 kernel, no OC, ktoonservative govenor with the deadline schedule. With moderate to heavy usage I can get just about a day out of a charge (usually with about 3-5 hours of on screen time).

It means the kernel will adjust the voltage used based on what is required for that CPU speed. Its called Hybrid Adjustable Voltage Scaling I believe. By using less voltage, less battery is used.

What does everyone find is the best kernel for battery life?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
personally, i don't think you need to be concerned much about battery life
i'm surprised myself, as i'm a heavy user, and this phone can last very long time on a single charger, pretty much a full day without the need to top up the battery
and that is OC to 1.8 Ghz
my old Nexus S wont last 4 hours with the same usage i give to the T989
it really depends on usage there isn't one golden battery saving combo in my opinion
I would like to know as well because that would be my main reason to want to root the phone.
I'm mainly just looking to get rid of bloatware and better battery life, which rom do you think would be best XDA?
believe it or not, the stock ROM in this version of the phone is very decent for battery life
you can find tune it with SetCPU if battery life is your goal, and NoBars, and optionally JuiceDefender
What about all of the uv kernels? I need to squeeze juice as i'm a power user.

Im getting awesome battry life and even better performance on BeastMod v2.0 with Synergy 0.03 Kernel. With SETCpu i have it at 1.6ghz MAX and 384 Min with LAGFREE scaling. Buttery smooth!

Seconded. And I didn't even OC.
I am also running:
1) Juice Defender Ultimate
2) SetCPU for screen off profile
3) NoBars Battery Saver
This combined with any bloatfree ROM will net you awesome battery life on this phone.
what setting are you using for screen off profile in setcpu?

I use to use 192 min 384 max, but had some SOD problems with the new BeastMOD 2.0 rom, so I used 384 min 432 max.
What about this new phantom ROM?

BUMP......
Juggernaut 2.0 with Jugs 0.3 Kernel
So far for system stability this is an awesome combo. Im still going to wait a few days to talk about battery life.. i spent the last 2hours texting my girlfriend and it drained 50% of my battery.. so yeah hoping the next fews days things will pan out.
2 users reported great battery life with it...
I'm also using BeastMod 2.0 with the latest Synergy Kernel 0.05. I use SetCPU to do min 384 max 1.5ghz (not overclocking) with lagfree governor. It is incredibly fast and my battery life has been solid. I only have one profile on SetCPU which is 384 min 384 max when screen off. All is well here.

What do you consider. Im using 0.05 and this phone is chewing up battery..i estimate 6 hours tops for mine with this kernel...itsjust so fast tho that i cant say no.
Which kernel do you think gives you the best battery life on your CDMA Gnex?
Please post the kernel/ROM you are using as well. Thanks!
I've tried all and I'm gonna have to say lean kernal does the best for me

I have tried all too and I find there is virtually no difference when I'm using either AOKP, Black Ice or DroidTh3ory's roms (yes I know they are all essentially the same!). My favorites are IMO's and Franco's kernels due to their smoothness and color options.
Leankernel for sure.

Kenerl Options As Well?
For those suggesting what kernel they think is best, would it be good to include what options you have configured that lead you to the battery savings?
+1 for leankernel, but certainly not v2.5.0 from March. 4.2.0 instead.
Air kernel has literally doubled my battery life compared to all other kernels on jb. With it I get the battery life is was with ics. 1200 max 234 min smartass2 governor sio scheduler

I've been using the latest James Bond kernel for 4.1.1 and get around 3 hours of screen time and haven't really got to test the full standby time. I was at 22 hours of standby this morning with 77% battery left. I have my CPU set at 1.2ghz with the interactive governor and have been using the cfq scheduler (default setup). I think I'm going to give that air kernel a go and see if I can get better performance.

I'm having major battery drain with the latest CM7 stable release. I've lost 25% in standby in about 90 minutes....my phone was charged while off to 100% last night, and when I turned it on I left it alone....didn't even turn the screen on. when I came back an hour later it was at 78%
Can someone please recommend a good battery saving kernel, please....I'm pulling my hair out finding one. For such a popular phone the choices seems really sparse

I agree with this kernel. I use SBC as well, it will stop the 10% drop in battery whenever you unplug it.
Thanks for all the wonderful responses, everyone!! I'm giving mason a shot first, since it seems so popular
I'm trying Mason G - v0.14 sbc uc'd to 729mhz, powersave gov....but I can't find any options to uv/ov. Does set cpu not work properly with this kernel? What app/script should I be using?
for undervolt if it is sysfs HAVS enabled you need to get vipermod. If it just says undervolt then it may have a pre-set undervolt determined by the dev.

I'm using setcpu right now with CM7, Tiamat kernel. Phone was fully charged early this morning, and is still at 86% battery charge, but I've used it for less than half an hour, and I also use Juice Defender.

On GB is was running this same setup and my battery life was nothing short of amazing. I had a good 15-24 hours depending on use.
best cm7 kernel?
i just recently started using mason. its pretty awesome. before that i used tiamat sbc also no problems. just try which ever ones you think you may like every couple days to see which one works best for you. i also give the kernel about 10 minutes to bake in every time before i unlock it. i dont know if thats been proven to help but it cant hurt and seems to work well for me.
I've been running mason sbc for about a week now. I had to use a combination of vipermod and smurfed out scripts to get the kernel set where I wanted it. I noticed the kernel was set for BFS by default, which I've never been a big fan of, due to its power consumption....so smurfed out let me set the scheduler to CFS, which is much more conservative and doesn't sacrifice any i/o speed, imho. Then I used vipermod to uv -25MHz so it wasn't such a battery-hog. Underclocked, undervolted, and set to CFS seems to be my winning combo!!! I get no less than 3 hours of constant screen time (streaming video, browsing the web, etc.) and enough standby to last me all day so I don't have to carry my charger with me anymore.
With every other android I've ever owned, setcpu does everything I've mentioned changing in this post...so when it wasn't working, I had no idea what to do.
Thanks so much guys!!! I couldn't have done it without all your help....HTC is in a world all its own in the android scene since they use so many different things that no other manufacturers do. It made me want to pull my hair out until you guys came along to help me out
Just looking for feedback on both. Thanks

Personally I prefer Kt747 kernel. First of the big up with KT747 is the KTweaker app that comes with it that allows you to OC your phone to 2106 MHz and makes it easier to undervolt, plus, it has a lock frequencies option the lock down frequencies so apps can not change them. The other big up is the ktoonservative CPU governor that comes with it that really improves battery life. You can also backup your preference to your sdcard so if you try new voltage and it gets too unstable you can easily go back to your most stable settings.
That being said both are really good kernel the best way to find out is to flash them and try them, then you can choose which one you'll keep.
I hope that helps
Ktoon's kernel seems to be updated more often than faux. I haven't tried faux's kernel though.
I also use KToons kernel. The KTweaker app is awesome. I wouldn't use anything right now in my opinion.
Ktoonz is awesome but I use fauxes when I Play games

If you're into underclocking and tweaking with your governor, go ktoonsez. For the light user, I've found much better battery life on faux's kernel, as it performs quite well in deep sleep. Just my 2c.

This is very true. Faux might have just moved on tbh.. But with that said it could be final as is unless new firmware gets released then he will change.
