[Q] Safestrap recovery - Sprint LG Optimus G

Just wondering if something like this would be possible on the LGOG.
[Recovery] Safestrap Recovery V3.0 [11/07/2012 V3.05.x] [All Versions] or the one for the kindle fire HD http://www.xda-developers.com/android/safestrap-for-kindle-fire-hd-brings-recovery/

Have you looked at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager.lite which is supposed to be similar?

MoDaCo like rom based on 6.3.1

I am currently running MoDaCo custom rom Gr8 for Kindle fire
I like that I get more apps on google play and other features only MoDaCo has
I do want 6.3.1 for other enhancements like stability and better speed
Rooted stock 6.3.1 doesnt have the features of MoDaCo
Is there any rom that is like MoDaCo that is based on 6.3

You can just root the stock 6.3.1 and then flash gapps and change your build.prop to access more apps.

I believe the modaco rom uses Galaxy Tab. Do you know how to edit the build.prop?

I know where it is but what lines do I change
Or can I copy the build.prop from Modaco rom to the rooted stock rom

ro.product.brand=
Look at the build.prop from the modaco Tom.and see what it looks like and then change whatever you need.

From what I can see from the MoDaCo Custom ROM the following line was commented out;
Code:
#ro.build.fingerprint=generic/blaze/blaze:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/6.3.1_user_4107720:user/release-keys
This line was added below,
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-P1000/GT-P1000:2.3.3/GINGERBREAD/XXJQ1:user/release-keys
You can copy the build.prop file to your computer and use Notepad++ to change it or you change it on the Fire with Root Explorer. If you do copy it to your computer remember to reset the permissions back after you copied it to the Fire!!
I attached the modded build.prop file, just remove the ".txt.
Ok so I'm running modaco rom now
I transfer the rom found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636038 to my sdcard
Then I flash without doing any wipe before I flash
Then I wipe dalvik and cache and reboot
Then I edit my build.prop and reboot
Is that correct

You can also just try the following:
1. Install the 6.3 MoDaCo if you don't have it already
2. While in TWRP, then flash the zip from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636038
- That adds the 6.3.1 functionality
- This will wipe out root/superuser
3. Wipe both caches and fix permissions
4. Boot
5. Use Kindle Fire Utility (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889) to reroot
I've done this successfully without any major problems. You can even flash the latest stock kernel from intersectRaven if you want to update that
- http://intersectraven.euroskank.com/kernels/Kindle Fire/2.6.35.14/20120223_1513/
- Use the one with Stock in the name
Hope that helps.
How do I do fix permissions and is it needed
I have voodoo so I don't need to reroot

Fix permissions is under the Advanced menu in TWRP. Probably not strictly necessary, but it doesn't hurt.
Never mind gr9 just came out
Can I just flash over gr8

If you've already got gr8 installed, then just wiping caches and installing should work fine.

Recovery won't work

Hey xda I know the xperia play with a locked bootloader can't have a true recovery so I installed it with xparts. However the app says it was installed and I reboot to recovery within the app the modified cwm doesn't show up. My device is an R800x that is of course rooted and is on 2.3.3

See the above thread. Try installing CWM installer v5, that worked for me. The apk. is in the OP. Post 601 might help in that thread.

It installed with v5 and I cannot find the bin file he is talking about. It'll reboot to recovery now

Sweet I got all of it from that post and it all works. Hopefully pvyParts fixes this issues soon and adds official support for the R800 series.

You'll find themes for TWRP in Kindle Fire Themes and Apps but they are outdated and probably won't work. I haven't seen any themes made for the newer TWRP releases.
Thanx Anyways

6.3.2

I recently bought a kindle fire from a friend and planning on rooting it and installing a ROM. It is running 6.3.2 currently and was wondering if this is correct forum. I was reading this other thread and it had has this forum is only for devices 6.3.1 and prior. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928866)
Yeah, the Mods locked that thread shortly after it was made so it's kind of a PITA to edit it.
Not to toot Jessica's horn, but SmoothROM is an excellent ROM for the Fire.
