i decided to unlock my bootloader on my already rooted phone to try out some new JB roms. I installed Sspeed kernel and RecoverX which was fine then I followed the instruction to install the latest PACman rom by wiping all the caches and the system in recovery before flashing the rom. Problem is I accidentally left out the flashing and went straight to reboot phone. NOW THE PHONE WILL NOT GO PAST BOOTLOADER ANIMATION.
I tried using flashtool to flash stock rom. The phone is connected in fastboot mode but will not flash! PLEASE HELP!
Many thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed:

To flash stock rom you need to be in a flashmode, not fastboot.
Ive done that few times just install any kernel via fastboot, then you will be able to go to recovery its just that recovery is kept in system partition, so you wiped all the system and recovery flash any kernel that has recovery build in, and you will be good to go

Hello everybody,
I managed to install the clockworkmod recovery for the Xperia play.
But I don't know how to reboot into recovery mode.
I searched a lot but I can't find the key combination for rebooting into fastboot/bootloader
or recovery mode.
Please help.
Turn device off. When off, press the power button, and start tapping the back button untill device boots into recovery.

I see you posted in the CWM thread, did you boot the recoveryPLAY.img? if so you dont have CWM installed, thats a temp image, your ment to boot from fastboot every time you want to use recovery. You need to flash a kernel with recovery embedded, if your using a r800i with the latest firmware, try doomlords kernel.

What is it, unlike other android device, on the play recovery is held on /boot partition. This is the same partition as the kernel. So if you was to just flash a recovery, this would overwrite /boot partiton, and because there would be no kernel, the device wouldnt boot. So kernel and recovery have to be combined into one boot.img.
That recoveryPLAY.img, NEVER FLASH IT, alway boot it. If you flash it, it will corrupt your /boot partition.

I can't flash Clockworkmod recovery with ROM manager.
It says me that I have to install a Clockworkmod based recovery manually.
How can I do it?
As they said u should boot custom kernel (like eg. Doomkernel) to have recovery. I think there is no cwm for play working with stock kernel, or maybe is but it cant be booted.

What's a kernel and what i have to do?
Hi, I've just rooted my Play and installed CWM using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ..
I've installed CWM with no issues (or so the app says) but I can't boot into Recovery. There's an option in the app to reboot into recovery; but all that does it reboot the device normally (except that there's no boot animation). Also tried tapping back continuously during boot and volume down but still nothing.
Is this going to be a kernel issue? If so how should I go about getting the appropriate kernel on my phone?
As the says in description: reboot phone and when it shows sony ericsson logo u should wait for blue led and than start pressing any key an it should boot to recovery

Kernel is a part of phone system which is connecting rom with hardware (i think) there is some custom kernels which is usually (always?) prerooted and has builtin recovery. With custom one u can eg. Overclock and/or undervolt ur cpu
U need to find one here on xda and than boot it using fastboot - in kernel's thread should be said how to do it.

I have rooted an R800x, Xperia Play. Using flash tool. I had to downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 and I want to flash a new rom. I can't flash a rom because I can't install CWM. I used X-Parts to install CWM but when I reboot the phone to recovery using X-Parts, it doesn't boot to CWM. I have tried to manually reboot to CWM using the [back] button, pushing it repeatedly but I still couldn't boot it to recovery. Can you please help me.

Yup, that link was a friggin life saver for me.... thank god!
Here is my problem:
I was playing with my brother's Arc S and the things I done are that I downgraded to 462 from 587, rooted it, gone back to 587.
After that I flashed via X-Parts CWM 5. I downloaded Xperia Ultimate HD, I booted it in recovery but something was not OK. Couldn't go to recovery mode with Power + Vol down, so I gone back to X-Parts and pressed reboot in recovery mode. I flashed the rom and after that it bricked..
Couldn't do anything so I restored it with Sony Update Service. I need help how to flash that rom without bricking the device again? I have SGS3 and it is pretty simplier that this..
EDIT: Forgot to say that I tried to unlock the bootloader but it told me that it is already unlocked.
Before installing the Rom zip, what did you do inside the cwm?

If you really can't go into recovery, use flashtool to flash stock ftf.
I've been hitting boot loops left and right. After beups s-off method, I succesfully flashed custom recovery and a ROM, but I accidentally flashed an international version of a kernel. During the aroma installer it froze and I restarted the phone, but now it will not boot normally or into recovery. I've tried to flash the stock kernel but I still can not get into recovery. Any advice? I've tried different recoveries and erased fastboot cache before each flash
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I did a factory reset through the fastboot, reflashed the recovery img and wiped the recovery cache and it allowed me to run cwm. Then, since I was having issues mounting, I used CWM's sideload program in their recovery that allowed me to flash roms without having to put them on the SD card. Where are you stuck at?
