OTA? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I noticed ROMs here are saying they are based on stock OTA. Was there an OTA that I am unaware of? I rooted day one and always remove update software.

I think they are referring to the OTA Sprint GN2 got...thats why wifi calling doesnt work cause Sprint doesnt have wifi calling and theyre basing their ROMs off the Sprint OTA.

Jedi master 3 says based on ota tar.

OTA on AOKP?

Can you get OTA on AOKP? I switched back to EL29 Gingerbread. But it keeps saying no firmware update is available so I'm just wondering if they would of missed me or something.
I want the update they send out to the phones just incase of anything, such as modems and connection issues.

Any of the custom ROMs built on FF18 will contain the same thing that OTA had - it has been checked against the leak already.
And no, you cannot pick up OTA on AOKP - stock (rooted/unrooted) only.
If you were still running AOPK, no you wouldn't see it. But since you flashed back to EL29 you will get the OTA. From what I've read the OTA is rolling out in waves. Your region may not have had it rolled out yet.
Why don't you just flash the rooted OTA from the dev section??? Again from what I've read there were no changes made to the OTA from the leaked version of FF18. And word to the wise, if you were to take the OTA you would have to root all over again.
If your having radio or signal issues try flashing a couple different modems till you find one the works for your area.

[Q] Received OTA update eventhough i'm on a custom jelly bean rom. so confused

i have a GSM Galaxy Nexus and i'm rooted running the Thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 rom. much to my surprise today my phone received an over the air update asking me to install 4.1.2 ; first of all, i didn't know a non stock custom rom could receive an ota update and i've been rooted on custom roms now since the beginning of ics and my phone has NEVER once ever before received an ota. especially now given that i'm already on a 4.1.1 and i got an ota update asking me to go to 4.1.2; so pretty surprised to put it mildly.
secondly i have GNofficial update app which tells me that my phone is either updated by google or not updated by google which i've found to be depending on what rom i'm using and currently my thunderstick rom makes it say i'm not updated by google. even if i wasn't rooted i never thought i would be updated by google anyway since i'm in canada not the united states and on some little ****ty carrier called Mobilicity. the last thing i ever expected was to receive an ota update. who sent it? Mobilicity? Google? i don't even have a clue where exactly this ota update is coming from. am i to believe that my galaxy nexus which came with android 4.0.1 originally out of the box and has never once before ever received an ota update would suddenly send me 4.1.2? so to re-cap that means if i had never rooted i would still have been at 4.0.1 and suddenly be getting 4.1.2 and in Canada and on Mobilicity of all things. so i'm super confused but that's not even my real question.
what i'd like to know is what will this update do to me? will it bring me from this beautiful exquisite custom thunderstick soft and chewy 4.1.1 to the STOCK 4.1.2??? and unroot me? it wont stop pestering me about it either, it just keeps prompting me do go for it! i checked on rom manager and there isn't a thunderstick 4.1.2 yet. mostly i'm very confused at even receiving it and that it keeps prompting me as if i have to do it or it wont go away. i could just imagine me doing it and then it sucking cause it's stock and not like thunderstick's soft and chewy which i've fallen in love with and then me going to the trouble of re-rooting and re-flashing thunderstick and then probably receiving the damn OTA all over again! has anyone else had this happen? why am i receiving a stock ota update when i'm already not even running stock?
is there a way i can make it stop asking me to install the ota update? can i make it stop appearing in the notification?

[Q] Update stock Sprint GNEX to 4.2.1 from 4.1.1 keeping root

So been while since I've done much rom flashing. Had an EVO for 2+ years and tried lots of ROMS, but then got the sprint GNEX because I just wanted vanilla android without having to mess with ROMS as much. As such, I'm just running stock 4.1.1, with it rooted for a few apps and wifi tethering which I flashed after rooting. Looking to update to the new stock Sprint 4.2.1 firmware, keeping root and wifi tethering. Back on the EVO, every time there was a new firmare update, someone would post a "stock rooted" ROM (not that I used them), that didn't have anything done to it, but can't seem to find that with the latest Sprint GNEX update, only one that seems to come close has been fiddled with, deodexed, causing some issues. I'm also not used to flashing without my data being on a removable SD card. So I'm wondering, is there a way to just flash a rooted version of the Sprint firmware, keeping my data and wifi tethering (or by just flashing a new 4.2.1 wifi tethering patch), or can I use OTA rootkeeper, flash the OTA update, and restore root? I've got latest TWRP recovery btw, which it seems I would have to change back to stock recovery to flash the OTA update correct? Thanks for any direction anyone can provide
First off, im not sure about wifi tethering, but it is an option on gsm android settings. I would use OTA rootkeeper, but you need the stock recovery first to accept the ota. Did you check this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170

Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. Swear I tried to search other threads before asking but somehow missed that one, looks like it should tell me what I need. Think I was looking too much in the development forum for a full ROM to flash, and missed that thread in the general forum about just applying the update. Thanks again!!

4.3 OTA

Hey guys, my girlfriend owns a sprint galaxy s3 and I've checked numerous times for an update but from 4.1.2 it just says up to date. So to make sure, everyone got an ota update? Perhaps of was pulled..? Last time checked December 1st. Her phone is super slow from all the caches and Samsung crap on there so I'm hoping 4.3 could give her a little boost in performance. She doesn't want her phone rooted.

That's an ota zip. She doesn't want to root, meaning no custom recovery. Nothing. Stock
Yes, I can read.
OTA zips are signed by Samsung and are flashed with stock recovery.

Update S3 Help

My wifes phone I747 has been having a Camera fail for many months now and she misses a lot without camera. She is running the old 4.1.1 still and i think its possible a Version upgrade may fix the issue. Now I ask can anyone please provide me with a full detail way to upgrade now that i Rooted it ??
I have looked for a week now on different ways but either i get lost or many files don't work anymore since its a old phone now.
You cannot get OTA updates if the phone is rooted.
If you are on the 4.1.1 bootloader and modem, I suggest flashing back to stock 4.1.1 using Odin and firmware from sammobile.com. Once you are on stock, run OTA updates until you have the most recent ROM on your phone. This method is rather slow but it is the safest way to update to the latest KK ROM.

Used to be but now only GSM At&t purchased half of Cricket wireless so now it runs the network.
