This is not a ROM-specific issue - it has been an irritating thing for me over the past year. It has happened on CM7/9/10, MIUI, any custom rom actually. Rather irritating when you wanna switch from gaming to texting etc (which is what I often do).
Just wondering if anyone found a fix. Thanks!

I have this issue as well. Whenever I open or close my play, it reboots. If I apply pressure as I slide out the gamepad, it works normally. Most likely a loose hinge or something.

Its not a software issue its a hardware issue for sure because my xperia play reboots when I close the slide on any rom. I'm not very tech savvy nor am I afraid of opening my xperia play I just don't know how the slide on the xperia play ticks. It can be number of things it can be slide, flex, the screen I have no clue. If someoone has a hardware fix on this please share.
Had this problem on stock rom but after flashing cola it's yet to happen.
Maybe I got lucky, IDK, it might be worth a try if it's bothering you too much.
There is a contact problem with your battery and the phone

This is not from your Rom. It is from your battery. Remove the battery use a paper to make it more firm as you put the battery inside the phone. I had the same problem but now I can slide my xperia PLAY open as hard and fast as u want without it rebooting.
HIT THANKS IF THIS HELPED

That doesn't work for me. I had to open my xperia play and replace the flex cable and now no reboots. The flex cable on my xperia play has alot of wear and tear in it.
I gave my R800at to my brother and today it begin to reboot when sliding in or out, it was a little lose, but not much.
I opened it, the flex cable seemed to be secure so I don't know specifically what caused it to reboot. But I tried to secure all the connections and tighten all the screws in the phone and it fixed the problem. No doubt I feel the problem will reoccur again in the future. I does seem sliding out the gamepad slowly and with some pressure down help.
To open the phone you need to use a Torque screw driver with the size "T5", you can get it at Lowe or Home Depot.

Did you possibly flash new firmware and that happened? You need to give us some more details.

I don't got problems with listening to music, maybe some app is messing your phone. if you can't find the problem do a "Factory data reset", if this doesn't help you can bring the phone back and get a new one. It can always be a faulty phone.
My Arc sometimes reboots on me too but not randomly. It's always when it's doing something that maxes the CPU and I switch between apps simultaneously. It's quite annoying, no doubt. My old Desire never did this.
Hoping for a future fw update!

It's being reported in the SE forum as well. You don't notice the reboot unless u put your phone within your view the whole day. Thats when you will notice the random reboots.

I even encountered one when the screen was off and it's doing nothing

I'm pretty confident its caused by buggy software and not broken hardware.
Looking forward to flashing some custom roms and kernels to get around this and up the perfomance
15 times
my arc have randomly rebooted at least 15 times in the past 3 days. it's so annoying. what's that thing with stuffing tissue paper on the back does it work?
i've reflashed mines twice now, and done reset to factory default on top of that after the second flash for good measure, and it's still rebooting when it feels like it. i uninstalled a weather widget, and i got almost 5 hours of constant uptime. i'm about to reflash it again and not install anything, maybe just battery monitor so i can tell how many hours/minutes i can get before it reboots again.
i read about the battery fit, and i have tried various things to try and see if that was the issue, but nothing physical seems to make it reboot, and like some others, i have seen it reboot when the lcd is off and the phone isn't doing anything.
i'd really like to be able to use this arc!
mine just had the first random reboot...first I thought that the battery was all drained out but then realised after switching it back on that it was at 20%...
the phone was on idle, locked...weird!!!
Just had my first random reboot after a months use, was using google nav while charging from the cigarette lighter. Quite annoying as i was trying to find my way somewhere and suddenly realised i hadnt had any instructions for a while. The phone had gotten quite hot - i think google nav must work it pretty hard.

If you use the home button to switch between recent apps a lot (i do) then it's pretty obvious if your phone's been rebooted as the recently used apps list is empty, so i'm fairly sure this is the first time my phone's rebooted on its own.
Random reboot here, too. ^^
I was typing an email with Google Mail app (with wifi and mobile data connection turned off, actually), when the screen became all coarse and broken (does anyone remember old DOS games crashes? ^^) and then it rebootet. Everything fine afterwards except for my email, which was gone.

Happened to me once... exactly as you described except I was retrieving email at that time, not typing or touching the screen at all.
When I first start the camera app after a reboot I get the message "Cannot connect to camera". If I try to start the app again it works fine every time until the next reboot.
I've tried a factory reset which worked for a few reboots until the message started happening again.
I'm running the latest stock rom and can't figure out what's changing to cause this.
Any ideas?
Had you got that problem on earlier versions of stock ROM?
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Sorry, I haven't had the phone long enough to have an older version of the stock rom.
Even I had this error once, I had to reboot the device to get that fixed.
This was the 1st time it happened.
One thing is it happened while shooting a 720p Video.
I don't think it's software problem, probably camera is damaged, or its flex cable. I had the same problem for a moment after disassembling my Play but I forgot to completely connect flex to the connector.
I think the only way to fix your problem is to bring Your Play to authorized service or (if your phone has warranty) send it to SE.

It could be but it just seems odd that its only the first time using the camera after a reboot. Try the app a second time and every other time its fine.
I would have though if it was the flex cable it would be all the time or happen randomly.
Well.

I'm having an issue like that right now. However, I started getting it after I messed with a ton of system files and the framework-res.apk
Did you do the same? I'm working on figuring out what went wrong, it's definitely a software issue for me.
Possible Problem and Solution
Hey guys,
I noticed something really curious after having an extensive conversation about a few r800's and a Moto Cliq XT about camera issues and I've isolated what might be the problem that people are unknowingly creating.
Status Bar Widgets
Having the LED/Flash/whateveryouwanttocallit light as a widget toggle in Android 2.3.x seems to use the same line of code as the camera. Or something techy like that. IDK. I was about to fix it after a ton of annoying work. But the easiest way (and fastest really) that I came across was just turning the widget off. Removing it completely. In fact, just get rid of that entire feature in 2.3.x and save it for like, IDK, 3.0+
Really hope this helps that random person out there who needs it.

YES, i agree, should make a fix btw, =)
I am going out of my mind. I've tried all ROMS, kernels there are. Currently I'm on Trinity kernel + .200 JB.
The phone sometime just goes crazy. I unlock it, open the dialer the phone itself starts making a call, lowers the volume or ups it. I cancel the call, it makes it again. I close the dialer, open the contacts and it opens a random contact, I'm not even given a chance to scroll. It happens irregardless of the app, while on the home screen it will open an app by choice. I have to reset it and most of the time that works, but sometimes it doesn't.
The last FW I tried was GB with DoomKernel 4a. I was hoping it was a JB issue, but it happened there too. Can anyone pinpoint what is the issue? Hardware fault it's gotta be...perhaps a bad touchscreen digitizer?
P.S. Random phone reboots, shutdowns are also quite frequent lately.
Sounds like a hardware fault. Or possibly a ghost?

Google seems to suggest it's a faulty touchscreen digitizer.
Damn, with service centers here, I'll be without a phone for half a month at least.

Hi!
Have anyone notised this problem with Z1C?
I received my Z1C 4 days ago and this has happened once every day. It seems to appear when trying to unlock the phone and all of a sudden it goes mad and nothing seems to happen when touching the screen. Otherwise the device seems to work fine. But do you guys think this is a software issue that can be fixed at next update or do you think I need to RMA?
regards.
This looks like a software issue to me... Try to factory reset your device and if it still persist reflash it with PC Companion it should fix the issue. A hardware defect can't make a phone like that don't worry

I cannot se anykind of app that I installed that would mess up the device like that? Ive installed about 15 apps and mostly "stand alone" apps like skype, sofascore and MX player. The app that closest could affect the UI is then maybe Nova launcher (got the prime verision) but I dont think it would mess up the lockscreen like that? (Or atleast it havent on any of my other devices, always felt solid and worked perfect)
It's not always about apps you installed though... There could be data files from system apps that got corrupted and caused the issue.
Do you have glove mode on at all? The screen is very sensitive, it could be some conductive dirt on the screen. I tested my Z1C in the shower, a drop of water rolling down the screen is enough to open the notification area or scroll a website in chrome.
Did you see this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643078
I think this is a hardware issue.
This happens more often if you use some sort of flip case (I had roxfit).
Now I have only a screen protector with hardcase i have still lockscreen ghost touches but less.
To fix it just clean the display with cloths or something you prefer.

Okay, this is starting to be interesting. I actually did a factory reset three days ago and now this phenomenon haven't happened since before the reset. Though I must admit that Im not sure if I noticed the problem before mounting the Muvit Easy Folio case since I got the case the day after I got the phone. Unfortunately I have not had time to reinstall all apps that I had before the factory reset so for now my phone is not really comparable with the device it was three days ago. After the weekend I will probably know more since I will have had more time testing and installing all the former apps (then I can uncheck that variable). I hope its not the case since I have not found any other case that's lime and also cover the screen, though It also looks like a possible troublemaker (according to delimanyak23 and the thread)
time will show, I'll be back when Ive done some more research
This happened to me but in homescreen. I just turned off the screen. Wipe the screen with my tshirt for 2-3 secs and viola problem gone. Weird but it works

My wife also has that issue. Her phone was factory reset but still the same and as it was seen by the shop who sold it to us, the phone will be replaced today. We will see if it happens with the new phone.
Nb : glove mode is off, no screen-protection used, a protectiln case is used but i don't know what model it is. I'll you the update after trsting the new phone.

Started using Cyanogenmod with my Z1 compact, with the original rom I had no trouble with the touchscreen but with CM there are now some problems.
Sometimes the screen is not reacting or the screen is doing stuff that I did not want to do. When typing messages a lot this whole issue is getting out of hand, because the screen is sometimes selecting randomly characters or just not reacting when I want to type.
Screen on and off helps sometimes. But that cannot be the solution :/ Any ideas how to get rid of this problem?
I have the same Problem. Im also on CM11 M12. Thought it might be a Hardware Problem but good to know, that im not alone with that. I did not experience this with stock Rom too. Would be interesting if this is a known Problem.

As I see the bug is there since 3 months: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-5689
Nobody is working on this issue :crying: How can they ignore such a big bug?
Probably it would be smart if other people also would open a new ticket there about this issue with their .log so this stuff gets attention.
As for me the problems are the most common when humidity is rather high. So everytime after taking a shower it is impossible for me to use the phone without these annoying Touchscreen issues. Before i flashed cm i never had this problem, i used the phone in the rain without problems. So i think it may be, that the Touchscreen is just not calibrated correctly and it is a lot more sensitive towards external influences as i mentioned before.
Is there a good Rom, thats not based on cyanogenmod? I thought i would wait for good 5.0 Roms before flashing my phone again, but this really annoyes me.
Sent from my Xperia Z1 Compact using XDA Free mobile app
I rarely have this problem on stock 4.4.4 rom. So it's not strictly an CM bug. I think it has something to do with the drivers or something regarding the touch software implementation.
