Anyone up for testing a new ROM based on the OTA LJC.
It would best if you have already updated to LJC but if not you would need to flash the Modem/Firmware from here.

Does anyone with more experience than myself know the easiest way to update to the newest version. I am rooted, but currently on stock? Thanks.

rooted with stock rom.
2.3.6
T989UVKL1
2.6.35.11
I want to install ICS but I don't know if I need to unroot. Thanks in advance.
I updated to ICS via Kies without UNrooting. It did not seem to be an issue. Then I rooted the ICS with the original root steps from galaxys2root.com It is not rooted on ICS

Forgot to mention, the ICS (at least for myself and a few others)...seems to be a little bit laggy. It has become better since I have let it sit for a while and do it's thing, and a couple of reboots, but I still think the Gingerbread ROM was "less laggy". Also, T-mobile made some changes to the ROM so that the wifi tethering apps (Barnacle, wifi tether, etc..) don't work. Someone has stated that they have been able to get them to work (see the thread in the Q&Q section), but I have not been able to duplicate the result.

Ok I'm new at this i just got my galaxy S3 a month ago and i rooted and have cmw, pretty much all stock except for audio boost and i want update to the latest's firmware ma6 but i don't know how witch files do i need to download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947 Do i only need to install only the odex'd version or do i need to install the kernel to? and will this erase my setting? text? and will i loose root? and how do i install it? thru cwm? sorry about that I'm a total newbie at this just change from Motorala Photon to the powerful S3, lol
Your link is broken. But you may want to check QBKING77's video.
Download ma6 De odexed or odexed and then download the aio ma6 firmware zip that will give you the modem.
And kernel is already included in the ROM

whats up guys im having a bit of trouble finding the stock roms for galaxy s3 im looking for the latest stock rom thats rooted. it can have small tweaks for performance. If anyone can provide a link that would be sweet thanks again guys i tried looking up stock roms but it didnt help to much
Well with the information you've provided I'm left not knowing a whole lot, so I'll just assume you're on the latest nd8 build and if so here is the link to that stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741413
please make sure you read the Op, because if you are not on the nd8 build you DO not want to flash this.

how'd you have trouble? and the latest ones flashable are under the name ND8 and NDC....
If you're on JB 4.1 it is mandatory you update via unrooted through PC ODIN first before you actually flash the KK TW Roms.
Stock Unrooted L710VPUDND8 or Stock Unrooted L710 BST/VM NDC
Once you're done then you can head to these two threads for the stock odex/deodexed versions of the ROM
Stock Rooted SPH-L710 Sprint Model or Stock Rooted VM/Boost ROM
Kudos to @jdsingle76, @DR_CDMA, @CNexus for these.
The stock ROMs don't carry tweaks. But there are great and standard tweaks you can find on XDA-D. But you should
only use it as a last resort if you're device really does need it. One tweak would be Operation Killjoy by Team Kernelizers
and the other is ComaDose v3.5 mod tweak mashup for d2spr by Goddly.
( Kudos to @Exit_Only, @kobridge, @Phakker, @j_ding84 and @idcrisis for all of the insane mods/tweaks and @Goddly for the mashup ).
Thanks guys I'm running miui 4.2.2 currently I'll look into the threads posted thanks again. Do I need to flash the nd8 tar if I'm on 4.2.2 already?

My wife has a T-Mobile Samsung GalaxyS3 model SGH-T999L running stock 4.3, which supposedly Samsung/TMobile doesn't offer any update for (she's tried update but if says she's up to date) So I'd like to install onto it, whatever the latest, most popular, stable CM version ROM is. I like the ability of Android 6 to limit app permissions so if that is stable and not too sluggish, great. (I understand nightlies are less stable so I think I want to stay away from those).
I'm not sure what the EOL "label" is on the ROM descriptions, end-of-life I imagine, so no further development? But if what comes after EOL is only experimental beta releases of a newer CM version, (until a final stable release), then I guess EOL is fine?
Anyways, if there's a well-written procedure for newbies on doing this upgrade, which also explains how to back up the original Samsung OS, proper active links for the right downloads, and most importantly step-by step directions, if you can point me to it, I'd appreciate it. Searching for her exact model # from the homepage of this website finds no hits....
Thanks,
Fil
There are custom ROMs for the T999L but it can take a lot of experimentation to determine the most stable ROM for your purposes. What works well for one user may not suit another user at all. ROMs for the T999 will work on the T999L.
In order to flash a custom ROM, you'll need to install a custom recovery and I recommend flashing the latest tar version of TWRP with Odin.
Just in case you need to go back to stock, download the latest stock ROM here and save it for future use: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999L/TMB/
TWRP here: https://dl.twrp.me/d2tmo/
Odin 3.07 which has always been stable for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421

I use my T999L as a spare and it's running pacrom 6.01. I haven't had any problems with it aside from OCCASIONAL slowdown (I'm not talking all the time or super major, just every now and then for all of 2 or 3 seconds).
I'm happy with it
Link to ROMs?
Thanks but can you provide a direct link to the various t999 or t999L ROMs you refer to, so I can peruse them?

here's the link to to the MM PacRom, You'll still need to flash gapps afterwards as usual. I recommend micro or nano.

You can for a ROM under the development forum. Take the time to look at screenshots and thread comments.

The most stable are always stock roms.
