[Q] "DARK SHADOWS".....Lockscreen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey all, Friday recieved my pre-order AT&T unit, and this morning I realized when selecting a dark or black wallpaper for the Lockscreen there is a rather pronounced light bleed thru. So black isn't really black, and the bleed thru of course isn't uniform so it looks like of shadowy?? Now on the Homescreen black is black and everything looks great. It's just the lockscreen.....dude really....seriously! Or do I have a defective unit?? Can someone give it a go and let me know. TIA

I beat you to it earlier today...I think you're seeing the same thing I did. Solution is to turn off the Ripple Effect under Lock Screen settings. Here's my original thread:

You sure did beat me to it, thanks for the quick response, Member over at the Phandroid Forums answer me the sametime you did. I wonder what's the purpose for this?? Oh well that's again!

Capacitive Home Button - Light Leak

Hi,
I've recently bought an HTC One V and I noticed that the LED light below the capacitive home button is leaking, even when viewed on a normal angle.
The other capacitive buttons does this as well but only at an extreme angle.
Any of you experiencing this?
TIA!
unit replaced

I just had my unit replaced. No more light leak below the capacitive home button.
I wanted to post images of it, but I need 8 posts to be able to do so.
Anyhow, buyers might want to check the unit first by covering the light sensor on top (to make the capacitive buttons glow).
Thanks for the views XDA people.
I want to make the capacitive lights bright in daylight also, how do I do that?
hey!
guess what? i had the same EXACT problem, except the leak under my multitask button was visible at even normal view. hopefully i'll get my device replaced by a new one tomorrow too.
what did the guys say to you btw? like what all did they ask? just keen to know!
thanks!

I just covered the light sensor to make the capacitive buttons glow. Not sure if there's a way to set it so that it'll stay.

I just showed them the unit. They really didn't say anything nor did they argue. Although I did struggle as the store's lights were very bright, so I had to go under a desk just to be able to show it to them (a bit awkward I have to say).
We had to compare with a new unit and it didn't have the light leak below the home button; but when I got home I noticed that it had the leak somewhere else (it looks like a hot pixel, but when you look at it, it's not really part of the screen but in between the glass and the LCD, which is weird). Will go back tomorrow for another replacement.
I guess if you're getting a replacement, try it immediately at a dark place / room to check for light leaks.
i got my unit replaced today!
no more defects anymore, i checked everything before getting home..
how bout you?

The store only had three units on stock.
First and second one both have light leaks, and the third one had yellow spots on the upper left part of the screen + a silvery dot inside the screen sandwiched between the glass also on the upper left corner.
I cancelled my purchase and decided to just buy again when they have sufficient stock of units without defects, or maybe once screen protectors and cases become readily available from retailers.
sir can I know where did you buy One V? I'll buy one this May..just in case..don't end up there
is the attached screenshot below a white leak??
the white leak is very visible on a black background at the bottom of the screen, also the top of the screen has little white leak too.
should i replace this one to the store?

I can find the light leak on mine (in the USB port) in the dark if I'm looking at the phone from beneath it. I suppose some people use their phones that way a lot!
That's so the dust can get in. I think its normal. I have light leak as well in the same spots.

Samsung Galaxy S III screen problem with black color in the dark

Last night I was laying on my bed watching a movie on my phone. I notice somthing is wrong with my screen, when there's no light in the room and my phone is on a black screen. I have something wrong with my black color on the bottom of the screen, its really hard to describe but if you look at it, it looks not normal. But when im not on a black screen the screen looks 100% normal you cant even tell there is an issue with my screen. I was wondering if other people are getting this issue. Just go to a room that's really dark, put your phone with a black wallpaper and look at the screen you might have to turn up brightness to see it.

OOOOOOO wow... thats lame but I feel alot better that you said that. thanks for letting me know.
mine has it too its normal
In very dark conditions, all these screens seems to have a noticeable glow on black, and lines, dots, and/or spots that are darker (like ink marks). I got mine replaced twice and settled on the third with only a single small spot on the right middle of the screen.

Yea, i have it too. never really thought anything of it... kinda figured it probably was just something to do with amoled screens. Not like i'm frequently looking at a black screen anyway... and it's only really noticable in the dark.
they look like black blotches of paint or something right?
My Infuse and SGS2 both have them is thats what you are referring too. if you load a brown image like XDA brown far more noticeable.
that is how i noticed them on other two devices.
Maybe I'm just lucky. But I don't have those blotches on my s3. Did have them on my atrix 4G though. And this sgs2 I was borrowing from a friend. Only had my gs3 since yesterday though. Maybe age matters?

Yea I've just got a small black blotch at the bottem left of my screen. Only noticeable when its pitch black
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
What's funny is. On my Atrix they were visible even with "color" showing. Faint. But visible. Very noticeable on black screens though. Gs2 wasn't too bad. But this gs3 shows none whatsoever.

[Q]blue tint on bottom of screen?

I just had my phone replaced because of a power button issue.
Didn't notice with the first one, not sure if it had it, but at the bottom of the screen there is a slight tint of blue in color shift vs the top of the screen.
Kind of like a blue haze coming up from the bottom of the screen about a inch or so.
If you put on a white screen and look at the top then bottom you I see the shift in color.Mainly on white or grey color though.
Is this normal or did I get another bad one do you think?
Yep same situation happened to me.. unless u dont mind. Get a new one.

He he yeah it would bug me.
Guess it goes back.
I am having great luck. 2 with issues ha ha
Yeah well.
Thanks for the advice though.
The store is going to love me brining back another one
There seems to be some build quality issues.
Well it is about 3:30 here now and I am off to take this back to the store here in FL to see if they will take it back.
Wish me luck.
Will let you all know what I find.
Sorry for the late reply.
Forgot to when I got home.
Just showed them the color shift in the store and that it was on all screens and not just a particular app and they set me up with another one.
Screen on the display unit that didn't have the haze and the new one both look good, but not quite as bright whites as the one that did have the haze to it.
But I am okay with that.
I had a green tinted area in the top half of the screen showing on white and dark screen backgrounds. I came across someone whos screen turned completely green one day and didnt work at all afterwards so I took mine back to be on the safe side. Im now on my 3rd S4 in a week. Still love this phone

Display Light Bleed, Edge Bleed

New phone, 12 days old. I find this pretty bad, do you guys think this falls under replacement?
bump
I get similar white thing on top, but when I change to something that makes it completely black, it's gone.
I would say maybe it's the theme that has gradient colors on the side.
Try changing the theme.

I just went into my messaging app to check, mine looks nothing like that (although I have an m7). I definitely recommend you ask for a replacement, gonna be hell in the dark.
Open a picture. That should give you an all black frame.

[Q] One M9 greenish screen?

This is my first post to this website so forgive me if I am doing something wrong...
I looked at the M9 at a T-Mobile store Friday with every intention of leaving with one. The problem was the screen had a greenish tint. The sales person was trying to tell me that he didn't see it, but the store manager agreed with me. They wouldn't/couldn't open up another handset to check it.
I went to a second T-Mobile store and while it was a bit less obvious, that display phone also had the greenish tint. While it was most annoying when there was a white background (putting in the Messages page, for example), it as enough of an issue for me that I came home without a new phone.
For those who have already bought and received this phone, have you found this to be the case?
thank you

I haven't personally all seems fine at least to my eyes.
I have read from another user here, that it was present on his device but it settled down.
That's what I experienced also. The screen is much nicer after a "break-in" period.

I was hoping mine would be too, but after two weeks I can still see the green tint. This is really only thing still bugging me about the phone.

What happens in the phone by using it to make the greenish tint disappear?
It's probably the glue for the screen
