Really Really wish that XDA would lock everyday peeps from posting in ROM threads.
No matter how many times it is said, seems most do not follow directions then ask why, or ask if they do need to follow directions, or ask why some BS app like netflicks wont work with a different carrier on new ROM.
250 pages of posts and 248 are spam and crap from peeps that evidently should nopt be messing with their phones in the first place.
Sigh ok I feel better now....
What is the point in stopping the users of ROMs from posting about them?
I agree with the above posting, if you deny people from posting their questions, what they learned, what oddity they discovered in a new rom.......... well then, you stymie progress. And, after all isn't THAT what these forums are about? improving our experience and improving our learning ?
If you really look at ROM threads these day there is very little good information or even helpfull information being posted by the masses.
Create a spam thread for the ROM in general, and GOOD information can be transfered to the actual ROM thread in the Dev section.
Everyone is told to search and read first, and I have spent the last few years doing that with out having the need to repost questions that have already been posted. But I will admit that lately with as much growth as this sight has had, Threads are being crapped up so bad it makes it hard to do so, leading to a vicious circle.
Seriously in one ROM thread alone you have 280+ pages now in a fairly new thread, and 270 of the pages are junk posts.
and now how can i download new updates to americandroid rom???

So we know this is a problem, and we're willing to go to great lengths to protect the development parts of the site as per the announcement.
It's a tough balance, but we think restricting new replies for those with under 10 posts, and new threads for those with under 50 posts will help a lot.

That could work. It really doesn't take long to post 50 times.
There has been a severe surge in noob activity and the search function has lost all use as they do not use it.
We get 10000000000000 threads all about the same problem.
There must be a way of getting them in control.
The worst is noobs in dev threads as they don't know **** and there for fill dev threads with utter spam and trash.
Help us obiwan kenobi your our only hope.
What if we make it so that you can "down-vote" replies, similar to reporting, and when 3-5 people down-vote the same post or user, it removes/hides the post and bans the user from posting in the thread for a period of time, while displaying a message saying so.

That's why I said 3-5 votes and also banned from posting in that thread for a period of time (ie 15 minutes). If we, the responsible members can't be trusted with something this simple, then there's no hope of fixing this.

I consider myself a noob, I'm definitely far from even being considered a dev, and I can answer half of the questions I see on this forum from RESEARCH I've done scouting around the forums and actually reading the threads. Did anybody read the sticky about before you post??? Just sayin' come on ppl, I read these things to LEARN and I'm getting tired of having to skim through all the repetitive garbage to find something new and/or useful.

Lighten the f*ck up. Talk about a first world problem.
Like you've never had a hard time figuring out a new forum/technology/device/community, needed basic help, been a noob. Like we ALL have. Give the noobs some help, a kind suggestion where to get an answer, an Example of how they might have used search to find the answer, perhaps a quick Constructive response on proper forum etiquette and good form.

Like everyone else has said already if you would actually do all the searching you say you do then you would have answered your own question since what you posted has been posted/said/stated many times already. This board is meant for people to help each other out in one way or another not for A$$es like you to try to bash or say dumb things to people that are barely learning.

Guess I just had to blow off some steam, I was looking for a particular thread that had some answers in it that I needed and was getting frustrated, and yes I was using the search.
I do try to help where/when I can. I was going to quote everybody but if ppl read the thread they'll see that I'm replying to everyone who posted besides myself. I'm going to go get a cup of coffee to enjoy with my humble pie now....

I realize this may not appease yours (or others) frustration, but sometimes people ask again because other threads pertaining to the same subject have become so huge it would take hours to search for the answer. I work full time, actually right now I work full time and a half and while I do my best to seek out existing answers I will, at times, just ask and take a chance that someone will be helpful enough to answer rather than saying "just search".
If you've ever worked in tech support then you'd understand that part of the 'job' is repetition, answering the same question, giving the same advice, over and over and over again.

Actually I generally like the back and forth also, I was using the search and couldn't tell you how many results I got, then trying o filter through them all...UGH!!! I went back to it after my little rant and eventually found what I was looking for, but again...UGH!!!
Never worked in tech. support and don't want to, though one warehouse I worked at I did become the "IT" guy everybody came to before they actually put in a help ticket.
I'm self taught through the help menus and forums in all things tech that I do so I've spent countless hours on my laptop or phone at some truck stop in BFE with a crappy wifi signal that I have to pay by the hour for or very slow data connections trying to figure things out or get some fix/rom/mod/program downloaded. Or just waiting for pages to load so I can read to find out if there's an answer there for me.
and again the humble pie was deserved and probably needed, everyone should have some on occasion, I'm not above admitting that I was wrong.

This is my kind of subject.... Guys you do know that you can use Google to find stuff on xda. Put your search words in with xda at the end. Just because your a noob here does that mean you have to be a noob in regards to searching the web. How did you find xda how did you find epic touch thread...? No problem helping others who want to help themselves. I know a lot of you say just keep answering the same question but really trying and help yourself....

Google is your friend. I have learned how to theme decompile fix XML files and a host of other things by using Google. So much info on the web its not funny...

Just a message to say, that at one POINT we all were noobs at one time, what’s the since of these forums if you can’t find help here? Hell, some of the noobs (including me) may have went thru something that the old timers haven’t been thru, so I see it as any problem is good info to someone. I went thru this power struggle back in the BBS days…arg, I helped crack games and progs, ie INC and Razor911, and so on, and there were a bunch of hot heads with attitudes. I for one cherish the forums for info. But I continuously see people slam others for their lack of knowledge. Others need to realize that a problem to someone is a fix to another. MY OPINION ONLY! Should be a thread for one thing only, IF YOU BRICKED YOUR PHONE, post it here, with what and how, that will answer most of these questions, so the more experienced users can either shine or move along.

Im the same way. I always will try to answer a question if i have a clue about it. I have gotten slammed before too just for asking questions but oh well. Every one is different, we aren't all the same.
Its a double side sword man I wouldn't flame someone but unfortunately some other people refuse to help themselves. They want answers spoon fed to them I try to search as much as I can before posting a problem and if there is a thread related to it I ask there first as well. Then you also have people posting in dev sections for request and questions because they will get more people to view their threads.

Half the people who get flamed dont read threads dont read how to flash or root phones properly then when they screw up they want their hand held and someone to coddle them and say its ok, waste of time tbh

All the knowledge is already here, people just want others to find it for them and that's when the dookie hits the fan. Most users lurked and learned before even making accounts or pointless threads. I have been here since Cyanogen put out his 1st mod for the G1 and didn't make an account til a year after I had learned how to follow directions and search for answers.

I agree, but you can tell the non-readers, like you said posting in the wrong forum would be one of them, but I saw a guy get ripped for asking a simple question about what mods work with what...just rubbed me the wrong way.

Agreed. I did not want to start a war, but the reply the guy got was a bunch of shi*** and were long posts about not the problem, but how he was a noob. If the person wants to rag another, don't write a 100 word post on the issue of noob, or don't post at all.

A great example of this is the G2x forums... The noobish questions are one after another. Same dam questing anx that's why people get irritated.

For me personally I don't mind the flaming for the people that do stupid crap lol. Then again I also come from clubrsx which is a car forum with much more grown up people. Usually stupid questions there and noobs who do stupid things are met with incredibly funny and harsh flaming lol . On a more serious note we will always have flaming and always have silly threads because we just will noobs will never read or try to be self sufficient no matter how big the bold letters might be telling them to. I do commend the people that search first and do try to find there own answers before asking for help I've had some users pm me asking for help with stuff I totally don't mind helping someone out but I'm use to everyone I know asking me to help root and mod their phones.

well if I see that they have 1 or so post, I see them at first legit questions, then, see them again post somewhere else asking stupid questions again, that would be considered to be those lazy as*** that you guys are referring to, humm, you guys have been here a long time, and seen alot, so I will keep the crap to myself. Reading stickies/forum rules aside; if you're gonna ask a question that's been asked a hundred times before, why not, at the very least, revive one of the multiple dozens of threads where that question has been asked already instead of creating more useless clutter in an already irreparably cluttered board?

I'm not trying to be a jerk and sorry if it comes off that way but I've only been a registered member for not even a year and it does get frustrating. Just try to read some posts before making a dumb one.. If you have a question its pretty much guaranteed its been answered.
The forum rules, which are actually a global announcement if I'm not mistaken; clearly state that if you're too lazy to experiment with the ROMs and find out for yourself which one is best then this isn't the right place for you.. And I wholeheartedly agree. I've only had the p930 since last November or so and I've been testing ROMs since day one and I've never once had to ask how to root or which ROM to use... That's the whole fun/enjoyment of android dev IMO.
There's my two cents. If you honestly still can't find an answer then there's probably no hope. Get a friend to mod your phone.. Lol

Look, I'm glad to have you as a part of the community; there is not one single person who shouldn't be a part of what we have here. All I'm saying is that, instead of posting a new thread to ask a question that has been thoroughly covered in multiple other threads; why not, at the very least, revive an old thread for this purpose instead of adding more clutter to an already cluttered board? It's posts like this which are the reason that there are "already so many different q/a posts."
I never said or implied that you were new to Android, and I never once said or implied that you were ignorant when it comes to Android devices. Believe me, I'm far from knowing anywhere near what I would like to know; but I guarantee you that almost every single question that has been, and will be asked on this board has already been covered multiple times; including "which rom is best". The development section has discussions covering the bugs and gremlins for every ROM released for this device via XDA. No real need to read every single page of each threads, just skim the last few pages and you'll get an idea of where the ROMs stand in their current form.
With that being said, I DO apologize for being a complete jackass and for the tone which I put across; but the sentiment remains.
Also, I have put forth an answer buried in my reply here; although it is a little verbose and requires you to do a little more leg-work to form your own opinion... which is what counts the most.

If you want the latest Android experience (4.22), the best all around bet is probably the unofficial PAC-ROM + Wind kernel 1.7 or 1.8. Bluetooth works pretty well, I think the only bugs are the other common CM10.1 ones- 1080p recording crashes, hitting the power button while in the camera app crashes. If you don't care about bluetooth and just want speed and battery, check out JellyBAM- it is slightly less stable than PAC but it flies.
If you are ok with ICS (4.0X) then HO!NO!'s CM9, Liquid Nitro or HO!NO!'s V20f are solid.
But in the future, search around and do a lot of research before posting a question- on most forums it annoys the members to be answering the same questions repeatedly

If you followerd the first rule of XDA and searched first you would have found one of the myriad other posts where users are simply told to be calm and wait - it sometimes takes a while for the board to update.
Also, as you have clearly gone out of your way to spam the board with fairly pointless posts, especially the ones since 6:07pm (BST) today, I really do hope that your post on the Dev thread is going to be earth-shatteringly important and insightful

The 10 post rule doesn't force you to spam at all. It doesn't force you to do anything.
Everyone who has signed up during the last 2 years has had the exact same limitations as you and the majority of those people didn't feel forced into doing anything. They realised/understood the reasons behind the rule and engaged in the forums without moaning about it or spamming.
Just imagine how much of a mess XDA would be if all members were allowed to post whatever they want wherever they wanted.
I've never understood why the 10 post rule is such a big issue to quite a few users. It took me about a month to get to 10 posts but it didn't matter because the rule didn't bother me. I didn't need to post in a development thread because I always found my answers by searching. Only once I didn't manage to find my answer so, instead of making useless posts, I contacted one of the active helpers on that thread via PM and asked them for help. I got my issue sorted out without the need to make posts of no value.
I didn't actually make my first post in a development thread until around 3 months after sign up (already had hundreds of posts at that point) and that was purely to help someone else.
