I hard bricked my Galaxy S II but when I take the battery out hold both volume buttons and plug into USB I can get my computer to recognize it was a "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" Device
Odin can see the phone but it can't flash any roms it won't get past "
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection.."
Is there any hope?

thats what im trying to figure out. there are not pit files posted anywhere in the t989 section.... must be something from another samsung phone like the vibrant.
did other popular samsung devices gain cwm thru .pit files? ours uses a .tar file.

Yeah, from what i read the older models did use a pit file... But i don't remember seeing any for our model

I've had a vibrant since it came out and every time you odined the Vibrant you needed a pit file. I had a pit in the odin directory and I wasn't really thinking and used it... *facepalm*
In hindsight it was a very stupid thing to do, but my softkeys weren't working and I was frantically trying to figure out what was going on...
I can repair both your brick and the soft keys if you need it done.

Mobile Tech Videos unbricked my device. I believe it was the first one they did. The service was excellent. I put my faith in them even when no solution existed and they stepped up to bat. Communication was awesome. I would recommend the service to anyone. If amyone was going to fix it they were... and did!

I sent my phone to them, I'm waiting to get it back.
All of a sudden in the last few weeks I've had several emails asking me if a JIG will fix this exact error.
Looks like we need someone to try a JIG on their device with this error message.

Hey bud please let me know if I can send peeps your way. I keep getting emails asking me who does JTAG on the SGSII lol or if my JIG will fix there phone... Id rather just refer peeps to someone who can JTAG instead of trying to guess if a JIG will fix this situation or not.
I'm sending a JIG today to a customer with this exact error message to let me know if it works or not. Thanks
If you download the stock rom from (can't remember site but password is sampro.pl) it comes with a pit file. That's what bricks the phone. Don't use it

YES THIS!
This is what bricked my phone
@connexion2005, I have the same problem with my T989. I (stupidly) attempted to flash Siyah kernel on it, CWM said everything went okay, but afterwards the phone never booted up again, just appears as a raw Qualcomm device. Been looking for someone who can do JTAG in the Austin area. I would be happy to bring it by (or send it to you) if you can resurrect it for me.
Alternately, I'm wondering if it's possible to software unbrick one of these, but I can't seem to get my hands on a copy of MPRG8660.HEX to use with QPST. I keep downloading ZTE firmware images but despite all of the mentions of this file, none of them seem to contain it. I still have access to a working T989. Can someone post or PM me this file, by chance?
This site gives me hope: http://www.anyclub.org/2012/05/how-to-generate-8660msimagembn.html
EDIT: Found a copy of the programming hex file and put it on my server: MPRG8660.HEX - can't wait to get home and try it out with QPST!! For the record, it was located in the ZTE firmware package known as "VDF_ES_V11AV1.0.0B07.zip".
Now I'm trying to track down a copy of QPST 2.7.369 or higher.
--W5i2
If you still need a copy of qpst, let me know. i have 2.7.xxx and i think i have qpst 3.x or something like that.
i hard bricked my t989 a couple nights ago using teamwin recovery. i have jtagged embedded systems before, but not a cell phone. would not know what to flash, where to flash it, and what program to use. i could never get qpst to recognize my phone (listed as qualcomm qhusb_dload or whatever) or the COM port it was using.
what does that HEX file do?
thanks
frescoraja
QPST 2.7.374! Haven't tried it yet though.
http://weasel.net/QPST_2.7.374.zip
The HEX files contain special bootloader code (I think) which allows QPST to speak to specific types of hardware. I may be mistaken on this, though.

weasel,
Would you please be kind enough and explain what you did to get your phone back from the dead? I just hardbricked my phone using Odin (I know, I know) and am trying to bring it back from the dead. My phone is in the special Qualcomm download mode (not to be confused with the Samsung one) and would not power on.
Thanks in advance!
Any updates on this. I borked a loaner T989 trying to flash a ROM I later realized was meant for i9100. Note-to-self: ALWAYS SEARCH FOR ROMS BY MFG's PRODUCT CODE, NOT MOBILE OPERATOR'S PRODUCT NAME.
Current status: A Windows 7 (x64) system detects the T989 Qualcomm HS-USB device and the correct drivers are installed. Odin detects the device on the COM port, but hangs on any flashing attempts at the "SetupConnection" step. "Download Mode" doesn't seem to be accessible by any button-pressing, head-patting, belly-rubbing methods i've tried. In 7 years of flashing hundreds of ROMs on dozens of devices this is the first potentially fatal hard-brick i've done.
Any tips or pointers for self-repair would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll send it for 3rd party JTAG. . .
What you describe sounds painfully familiar. I spent a lot of time trying to bring my phone back from the phone heaven. Unsuccessfully. Phone was dead. Ultimately I sent it in for repair as it was still under warranty. It came back with a new logic board and relocked to its original carrier.
Problem you have is not how to flash it back to life, problem is what to flash. Your bootloader is dead and you need it recovered. This is what JTAG does. There was a reference in the thread to somebody being able to do that. I talked to him and he said he charges $50 for it, if I remember correctly.
hi
i hard bricked my lg 930

is anything i can do for my phone like i'm not able to go in download mode, i can't see anything on screen. black
while i connect the usb cable i can hear a sound like connecting to computer
thanks a lot
We would need some more information to know if your phone is truly bricked.
does your device show up via ADB?
does it show up with B2CAppSetup program?
have you followed the unbricking solution?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488
an important part of getting the phone into download mode is unplugging the usb at the right time during a hard reboot with the volume up held.
hope any of this helps but hopefully we will hear back with more info.

@Maverick.Marq,
No, we don't really need more info to know his phone is hosed. Basically he has flashed a supposed CWM image on top of one of the bootloader partitions instead of the recovery partition. Everyone should contact these guys and tell them their guide is horribly, horribly wrong. They never responded to my email...but maybe if more people contact them about it, they'll remove their stupid guide.

LOL, I have no idea why you're trying to use Nero, but yes you are correct -- recovery images should be 16MB (16777216 bytes).
That's not the issue though. The issue is that you flashed something to the mmcblk0p6 partition, which is bad.

Hi Nickmatine,
Could you please confirm if your phone (LG P930) got unbricked?

@allians2002,
Unless he sent it in to be hardware-flashed, it's probably pretty much hosed.

hi, i was reading about bootloader that it has to be unlocked in order to flash custom roms
i did download ez unlock from play store and did unlocked the boot loader but it was not recognizing at status even after the operation (status unknown)
i have i747M rooted
now i powered off the phone wanting to save the rom(again) thru CWM but it wont boot for nothing even pluged charger is not recognized
i have saved once the image so i have it on my sd
what can i do to get my phone back to life?
thanks for your help
Well, if you would have read anything, ez unlock is for verizon only. So, unless your phone shows any sign of life, you need to jtag.

If you can't boot into download or restore, and if odin doesn't recognize, I can almost guarantee you that you have hard-bricked your s3. Your bootloader is messed up, and can only be restored through JTAG. For you to de-brick it yourself, you'll need to shell out a couple hundred dollars to buy the equipment, or you can send it to someone who offers the service for a smaller fee. If you need some suggestions, pm me.

I don't see how you don't understand after all the replies... If your phone shows NO sign of life, (I.e. no download mode) You MUST either JTAG or wait for the SD/Hardware hack one of the Devs is working on.
That's it. End of story.

only odin that recognizez the phone is version 1.85 and the port is with yellow but it wont go past msg "setup connection" when trying to flash
so i know that jtag is the sollution but im wondering if there is other solution than jtag
i found a post in the i9300 section that it could be unbricked with a procedure but im not sure its aplicable to i747m

I'm assuming you have but doesn't get explicitly stated. But you have tried pulling batter. Putting back in then hold down the volume down key, home button and power but then after 2 seconds phone should vibrate so u let go of power button but continue holding the other 2.
Or the same method but holding power up.
To get you into either download or recovery mode.

thanks for this info but my phone got hardbricked because i unlocked the bootloader by mistake and it got corrupt i guess, and none of those actions work
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
I received an SGH-T989 that wouldn't boot. It had TWRP on it, so I was able to flash latest stable CWM. Upon reboot, it apparently became hard-bricked.
Currently, I'm unable to enter download or recovery modes. USB Jig does not work. There is no output on the screen, even when charging the battery. When connected in Windows (32 or 64), I get a usb error message: "This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)"
My question: Is the motherboard dead, or could a jtag repair fix it?
What I've tried:
multiple micro usb cables
usb jig
odin
keis
heimdall
Thanks xda!

That would be great! I did see the S3 fix that loads a debrick.img from sdcard - would that work with hardbricked? Windows wouldn't load the usb drive for my phone, complaining that the firmware didn't give the "required resources". So if the firmware is borked, I'm not sure it would be able to load an external img.
I couldn't wait, though. Sent it out for jtag repair :fingers-crossed:

Jtag should always do the job, unless there was physical damage done to the motherboard.

The t989 has great specs, only downside is its PPI (really low) if you still love it, I would wait if you want to send it into JTAG repairs, we are on the verge of unbricking our t989 without JTAG! Looks like we need someone with a working t989D though
I have been studying the other 'unbrick' methods, its definatly mind expanding, the amount of knowledge absorbed can seriously make you forget time n space.
If there is anything I can do / contribute holler at me.
Now ill tell you something weird so I flashed a rom not meant for T989D plus I did it all without being rooted. (if it matters) since Since the flash the phone doesn't boot into recovery or show a bootanimation, just darkness.Yet it felt operational in hand.
Once I plugged it back into the PC all I got was a constant notification of drivers that cannot be identified Also it keeps connecting and disconnecting the device.
None of this is weird until I installed OMAP flash and the T.I. drivers for which was used to fix my friends nexus. After he left I plugged my s2 to the PC still nothing. I looked away for a brief moment . Then i noticed MobileGo for Android popped on screen. Visually showing my s2 as an Alcatel rom.
just bizzare.....
The unbrick method on the S2 is a little different, but in General, at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646310 after a little work, I resurrected a QHSUSB_DLOAD 9025 T989D to the point of ODIN and fully working Android OS working, just missing recovery.. Soon to follow in a day or so.

Hi, so I also have a hard bricked t989 galaxy s2 (tmobile variant) and I'm attempting to understand the instructions. However my phone has another issue...usb connection to the computer does not work, it hasn't worked since the micro usb port on the phone was replaced because the old one broke. So really the phone could charge but never connect to my pc as it cant be detected...so what are my options? If i create the sd card with the image, will i still need to connect it to a pc in order to force the phone into download mode? Please help...
Dear Friends,
I bricked my Galaxy W. Here is the bricking procedure.
- I reset my phone with original loader and converted into original factory state.
- Than with this clean phone, I rooted it by help of this guide
It was successful. Thanks for that guide.
- Than from google play, I loaded terminal emulator and tried to load recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.5-ancora
- Rebooted my phone and surprise: My phone is dead.
What I get:
- My phone is completely unbootable.
- No key combination is working
- Completely blank screen without any indication.
- But my PC recognizes my phone as QHSUSB_DLOAD
It seems that Qualcomm High Speed USB driver fits this thing and shows COM5.
- But ODIN does not see anything.
What I need:
- HELP!
Thanks

I can not see anything in my phone screen, therefore I can't be sure. But since I can not see any action in PC too I may say; I'm not able to go to download mode.
(I'm not expert on this subject, I always have doubt what I talked about, sorry for that)
However as I say in my first message Qualcomm High Speed driver is always in charge as the phone plugged.

The only way you can get back from this situation that is you have to enter download mode and flash stock firmware. Your issue will be resolved after that. Make sure you installed Samsung USB drivers into your pc. If this doesn't help then you may contact service center.

Thanks for your valuable responses. I will try what is recommended in those two links, and of course will give the feedback to here to help the (potential) brickers.
full brick
Hello to all,
I have tried to enter with some different key combination, not worked.
I have tried USB-JIG, not worked.
Does anybody have an idea to go with QHSUSB drivers?
Because only with this, my computer recognizes my bricked phone.
Thanks

Solved by JTAG
Dear friends,
I have tried all the procedures without touching phone PCB. Non of them worked.
I have decided to apply JTAG procedure. Actually this procedure is a little bit complicated for me. I have found a guy making this. And in a very short time, my phone returned back to life.
Now it is working with a Cyanogenmod release (based on Android 4.2.2.)
I have some issues but anyway, my phone is working now with better system performance.
JTAG saved my phone.

Nearly 20€ per JTAG.
If someone need QHSUSB_DLOAD solution...
Maybe I can help him...
You need Qualcomm Drivers... forgotten which one exactly I have used...
QPST Version Build 411
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50204328&postcount=9
Procedure looks similar to this:
forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2754655&d=1400627472
In this Thread I have tried many things...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52808706&postcount=282
I could prepare files for testing for I8150...
Not tested by me nor confirmed with I8150... as only S8600 for me available...
If someony want test... PM me.
Next few hours or days I could upload files for QPST...
Code:
MBR from I8150
DBL from I8150
OSBL from I8150
Need testers and feedback please.
Best Regards
Will check my HD for Qualcomm drivers...
Maybe upload later...
Here are test files... because untested...
Risk to reach other bad status... So you could need JTAG...
Short description...
DBL and OSBL are taken from JTAG dump...
It seems chinese Version could be different...
But MBR... first 512 Bytes are 1:1 same in all I8150 JTAG dumps I have on my HD...
partition.mbn is MBR from I8150... 512 Byte
DBL and OSBL have size from partition... extracted from JTAG dump...
DBL is in partition 2
OSBL in partition 3...
Settings for QPST are hopefully visible in Screenshot...
It is mandatory to use QPST Build 411... older Versions not accept MBR as partition.mbn without header...
Header in MBR not deadly but could be bring other trouble...
For testing now only correct drivers "missing"...
I have so many stuff downloaded...
Will try to find correct one.
Again, I have only S8600 for test...
Maybe with I8150 not possible...
But before you buy JTAG you can try.
Good luck.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
Qualcomm driver to find should be not impossible... use magic search word: QHSUSB_DLOAD... for instance here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40072841&postcount=1
or try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40195799&postcount=7
And here again Link for working confirmed QPST Version Build 411... tested successfully by me with S8600:
