Auto restore working? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've done two factory resets and have not had a single app auto restore. Has it worked for anyone?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Ive never been able to get that crap to work. Not ever on my nexus. It worked for a while and then just never did it again and I had to go through the hundreds of apps one by one....arg

I know that the paid version of TiBu will do it without a lot of fuss, I should really buy it. On my old Captivate, it worked really well on several roms that were close to bone-stock AOSP. Perhaps that is the deciding factor on whether it works or not. If the stock T-Mobile rom is to butchered up, then it simply falls to work.

Galaxy s3 or Galaxy Nexus

I have somebody offering to trade a new Nexus plus 100 for my Galaxy s3. I don't know much about the nexus so could somebody point me in the right direction. Thanks.

maybe $150-200
Root install cm10 or aokp. And poof you have a better nexus for free......send me some money

Thanks for the the sight on the nexus. But in your opinion which is the better phone for medium user. Surfing the web, text, YouTube and email. Battery life means a lot can't get around a charge for most of the day.

for a medium user... battery life is best.. so s3
Never used a nexus, so i couldn't objectively compare battery life. But i get moderate to good use daily from my s3. For example, today I've got almost 5hrs if screen time, but a lot of that is on wifi, only a small amount of mobiledata and an hour and a half phone of calls
SIII
SIII is better IMO. my GF have the Nexus and it is a great phone, but to me the SIII is more phone.
I am just unsure my wife has a galaxy note and when I was comparing my s3 opens apps faster but when I hit the home button hers is fast at getting back to the home screen. Could there be something wrong with my s3?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I'd say keep your SIII. The hardware is more powerful plus like paniro already mentioned you can root it and install cm10 or AOKP on it and you have stock android but with the more powerful hardware. Plus if you ever want to go back to stock Touchwiz you can still do so.

that is because it's waiting for a second press to initiate s voice, it's totally normal. You use to be able to fix this by disabling s voice but I don't think it works anymore (don't quote me on that). there are apps that allow you to re map keys and I think this circumvents the lag "issue" but it doesn't bother me so I never tried it.
Op- keep the s3, the only thing nexus had going for it is jb... which we unofficially have now.

Keep your s3....We will see a new nexus later this year anyway.

It's not difficult, just read read read, and read some more. There are stickies and guides galore. And yes you can return to stock fairly easily via Odin.

Thank you for your help I will look into rooting it. I like the look of vanilla android. Just nervous about bricking the phone. And thanks about shutting of s-voice. It speed up the home button quit abit. I never use it so it doesnt bother me.

unheard of problem?

my phone has started doing something crazy today, whenever i talk on it, the radio drops after a minute, and dont come back untill i turn airplane mode off and on or reboot. it only happens if i talk on it. i have changed nothing, except flashing mrom yesterday, i did a full wipe and restored my cm9 backup, and it still does it, has anyone else ever had or even heard of this problem? is my phone just crapping out?

Xda app

Anybody else have problems using the premium version? Even with 4g it won't use my data to access anything. It won't even connect... is it going to be updated or should I just lie down and cry that I paid for something no longer receiving updates and use tapatalk?

Been going in and out for me for weeks. You're not alone.
The xda app has lots of issues. It doesn't start properly and also takes forever to refresh when it does work. I'm very disappointed in the paid version. I use the app constantly, and still hoping for a fix

Think a few nights in a row they were working on improvements that is why I could not connect. This was a few days ago. Could not connect on a computer either. I'm sure we will see changes..only time will tell.

[Q] read and read....can i do anything with the 4.3?

I am definitely not a noob here but, it has been a loooong time. From the HD2 and g2x days including a stint with Team Hellfire. I just tried to get back in to the scene with the purchase of a tmous galaxy s4 (4.3) and am realizing that I may not be able to root. That being said, I have read that you can and that you can't. What is the definitive answer? can I root this paperweight or not?
I'm not too familiar with the s4 but I know with 4.3 on an HTC one you can't root yet.
Check your software build number and boot version and then search on those numbers. Most 4.3 phones right now can't root unless you were previously s off and just took the ota. Then all you had to do was reinstall superuser.

You can root, use custom recovery, flash other ROMs, etc but you will trip the (as of right now) KNOX warranty flag. If you care about your warranty, leave it stock and don't muck around. If the warranty doesn't really matter to you, having a tripped KNOX flag doesn't incapacitate your device or anything; just don't expect warranty agreements to be honored.
Cf auto root

I was deciding between s4 and HTC one. How do you like yours? I don't think I'm a big fan of touch wiz. I hope Verizon does not take away my unlimited data because all I've had were Verizon HTC phones.
If I had to switch carriers I would probably keep my DNA as it has bands that work on pretty much all carriers except sprint.

So far it is nicely put together and it has a ton of features. Not really happy with the lock down from Samsung though. First is was a lack of source release from LG and now Samsung has to play games
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah they did pack a lot of features in the s4. What they should have done was made the build quality better, it's not as plasticy feeling as the s3 but they should have of course got rid of the home button.
I heard Knox is a pain but at least you can root it now. I can't even use my one right now because I hate the Verizon software.

I can't find a valid cf autoroot download. Every link I've tried here, on utube, and my own searches result in the same thing. File appears to download but when I try to open it it says it is a corrupted file. If I try to unzip it it says there are no files to unzip. Anyone have a good do for it?

Getting repeated texts...what?

Doesn't seem to matter the rom, I get text messages 2-3-4 plus times. Sometimes randomly. Ported my number from Verizon nearly a month ago.
Any thoughts? Is extremely frustrating trying to hold text convos.
Currently on wicked V4.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
I had this happen to me as well, it's stopped now but I believed it to be rom/ kernel related if neither it's the sender as it's only happened from one person in particular that was running cm on a s2.. I'd do a clean install from wiping everything and going from there

I've had this issue with every touchwiz rom. It's random and sparratic but it could be a T-Mobile issue too I guess
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I should have included that. It happens on touch wiz roms. Haven't tried cm.
Also happens from everyone. Regardless of verizon, att, sprint, tmobile.
So annoying lol. I have reinstalled and tried a few different roms.
Have not tried stock. Phone was rooted and modded the moment I got home from the store.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
This sane thing was asked a while back. Has something to do with the port from previous carrier. Mainly from a CDMA carrier (Verizon/sprint). However, it is hit and miss, as I ported from sprint and have had zero issues. Even from all my friends on other networks. And my phone has been on almost every ROM made so far, with a multitude of mix and match kernels.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I didn't see that post. Can you link me or tell me what the fix was?
Is very frustrating. It doesn't happen at first, soon as it does it ramps up until I am getting the same text 10+ times randomly throughout the day.
Which when sending 100 texts on purpose back and forth becomes a nightmare quick.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
It may take me awhile to find it. It wasn't posted like yours. It was a question asked inside a thread totally unrelated, and someone from t mobile chinned in and said they have issues when numbers port sometimes. That it is just a waiting game until resolved.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Crap. Never mind. It was not receiving from other carriers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=095
I was way off. Are you using go SMS or any other 3 red party messaging app? I have seen it happen with go quite frequently. Of not, we may have to look at APN settings to see if you are using multiple, or maybe your number isn't accepting the message with an acknowledgement right away.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Ahhh gotcha. Don't have that problem.
I did at first. Thought like you did it was at fault. Had to fresh install last night, be the 2nd fresh install without installing go SMS.
Does it with the stock app.
I probably should call Tmo
