can some one explain to me these plan
cuz i see that the galaxy s3 is going to be free with a clasic plan http://www.tmonews.com/2012/11/t-mobile-holding-two-day-samsung-sale-on-november-16th-17th/
so i want to know what is the deal
value plans are cheaper but you pay the full price of the phone with them , classic plans you get the phone cheaper but theyre more expensive
Was on my account when I read the OP so I copied and pasted what I found. On the CU adding a line is $10.00 per line, and the VP is $25.00
Hope this helps.

They're the same when it comes to the services offered and the requisite 2 year agreement. The only difference is the price and phone subsidies.
The idea behind a Value Plan is that you get NO subsidies when it comes to phones and so, T-Mobile passes the savings to you. On a Classic Plan, you can get subsidized prices for phones, and, as a result, you pay more month-to-month. Now you need to decide and do you research and see what is the better option for you.
In my case (I need 4 lines for a Family Plan, and I buy my own phones off Criaglist/Ebay, or up-front), the Value Plan was a better idea. However, if you need a phone and can get in on some deals, then the Classic Plan may be better.
It all boils down to pure economics, nothing is ever free, it's just these american carriers have brainwashed the public that phones are "cheap" and plans are "expensive". And that's why most Americans are tied for 2 years to a large wireless bill and aging hardware.
i saw that the galaxy s3 was going to be free with 2 years agreement so i decide to get it and just pay 200 to cancel the contract and put it on the value plan
Since I have been with TMO almost 8 years we have been getting IMO great deals on phones. "Loyalty" department calls it corporate discount. At the end of Oct. I replaced my wife's Mytouch 4g with an S2, cost me 126.00 shipped overnight with a 100.00 rebate. Then ordered my Note 2 for only 250.00 shipped overnight and it came with a 50.00 rebate. Yes we signed a new contract but since the Mytouch was a "warrenty issue" we only had to extend one contract and to top everything we chose which contract to extend. So with 2 new phones under 300.00 and a contract extention to June of next year. You just can't go wrong with TMO.
You do have to have a silver tongue and negotiate. I call it playing the "corporate game"
Going along with the post 2 up, keep in mind, regardless of your carrier, you're always paying for your phone subsidy. Carriers don't really make money on devices. Why do you think you get locked into a 5GB or UL data feature when you upgrade on a classic plan?
I like the value because you have more flexibility. If I want to switch to a 5GB with hotspot, I can do it any time I want. Or pull off data all together. Also, no bs upgrade fees, and when you're finished paying off the phone, it's done. Unlike the classic or any other carrier where you keep paying for it.
The value plan eligibility is changing so I'd check in the coming months if you're eligible to switch.. If you're interested.

If you plan on keeping your phone for 2 years, go with the value plan. It is very hard to resell a phone that has been purchased on the value plan until it is paid off.
There is never a scenario where the classic plan is cheaper than the value plan. Unless you call customer service and they give you a phenomenal deal on a phone.

Exactly. So with the big push to get customers on the value plan, which one do you think T-mobile prefers? They aren't going to try to get you onto a plan that will make them less money in the long run.

Umm, yea that is what I said. They want people on the value plan because you don't own your phone. If you don't pay your bill, the IMEI gets blacklisted and your phone is useless. On the classic plan, you own your device which is much better for people that switch phones often.

The only other scenario that's cheaper than a value plan is if you have a grandfathered plan. That's my dilemma right now. I'm holding on to my grandfathered plan as long as I can but I really want the Note 2 as well, but I don't have $500 to outlay up front even if I get it back as a rebate (which of course they'll try to screw over).
So I'm going to take a chance and call loyalty on November 16 to see what they can give me.

My bad, must of had my eye's crossed and T's dotted when I reading.
We are very happy with our service, lastnigh I bought the new Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 for 250.00 with a 50.00 mail in rebate. Unlimited data, talk, text, and hotspot for 20.00 a month
Let me ask you, you said your IMEI could get blacklisted for non payment. Couldn't you simply flash your phone and use another carrier or pre pay sim?

Value plan doesn't mean you don't own the phone. An EIP plan means you don't own the phone.
T-Mobile certainly can't blacklist phone you own ( ie Google purchased nexus 4) for non payment on a value plan. Best they can do is send you to collection for breaking contract on 2 year value plan unless you pay them the etf.

That seems like a fantastic price ($20)for unlimited data, talk, text, and hotspot. Are you sure that is what you are getting?
If it is, can you show which plan you are on? I want to see if I can duplicate the same deal.

On the Classic Unlimited with international text, discounted international to the phillipines, with 6 lines.
The Tabs data is usually 35 bucks a month. But again tmo dropped the ball on me. Earlier in the day i had placed the order and i paid 250. Cash. Well it was weird as i didnt recieve any text or email notifications. When i got home from i called and 1. They put in the numbers wrong and ordered the Tab 7" 2. The damn thing was on bo. I wasn't to happy so after 30 minutes with loyaty I got to a sells agent who hooked it up. He couldn't give me anymore discount on the phone as I am already on the "corporate discount" he did give me the plan for 20 bucks. Plus a 50.00 rebate form.
I did have to extend a full 2 years on the Tab as its an added line.
Last month my wife got her SGH-989 for 26.00 after 100. Rebate and no contract extention
Did I mention my monthly bill is under 300.00

Only overseas or in Canada. T-mobile and AT&T share an IMEI database now so AT&T will block it as well.

Yes, you are right. I was speaking strictly in regards to purchasing the Galaxy Note 2 on EIP and not using the value plan and BYOD.

What do you propose, that they turn their whole business to prepaid? They'll be bankrupted in less than a year.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Theres no way they can charge full retail for a device and expect you to sign a two year agreement as well. Im positive the phones will be discounted.
Most the GSM world doesn't subsidize their phones, and they have much more competitive prepaid plans. The average American is so used to phone costing $99 or even free, they don't realize that the provider is making a killing on their contract.
And if this drives down the value of t-mobile enough for Google to buy them, I am all for it!

Maybe they wont charge for cancellation if the customer decide to cancel before the end of the contract. And if the customer decide to cancel his contract he is going to pay the rest of his phone before canceling.

Yeah, we've been doing it since August of last year, the value plan is nothing new, and it ends up being the same price monthly or even less depending on the phone you get. And you pay less up front for the phone.
I don't know about you guys freaking out, but they're simply getting rid of the Classic Plans and moving everyone onto the Value Plans...
Since I always buy my phone off contract, this is better since I save more month to month

For me, this isn't great news depending on the details. If they're going to do away with grandfathered plans, then my phone bill would go up even with the value plan. If they allow grandfathered plans to stay, then it's not that big of a deal.
Value plan phones are less money up front than the subsidy ones and the plans are still cheaper month to month with the EIP. Not sure about "upgrades" before two years is up though.

I think once you upgrade your phone through some sort of subsidy (i.e. EIP on value plan) they will make you change your plan. So as long as you bring you own phone (which means paying full price without any subsidy) you will be able to keep your grandfathered plan.
with the new plans you would be saving $20-$30 a month on your bill and you can choose to buy the phone in full price right there or choose to buy the month in full price but through monthly installments which will still save you money over a 2 yr contract compared to todays model

Right now T-Mobile is not forcing you to change your plan when you upgrade your phone(s), but who knows what that may look like next year. I'm just glad we upgraded phones this year and I'll be all set for at least 2 years.

I believe T-Mobile is going to turn into contract only service. And Metro PCS is going to be the prepaid service. This is what I believe is the plan with the merge of T-Mobile and Metro PCS.
I guess just different naming product services under what will be the same roof.
I also wonder if Metro PCS will keep the $10.00 per month international calling plan after this merge? My wife has that service because she calls Peru so much.
All this makes me wonder if this merge is worth it for us customers or not?

They made me change my plan when I got my now 140.00 note 2 after 100 rebate . It cost the same. I got now unlimited text / before 300 unlimited internet / before none at all 1000 mins / before 750 :good::highfive::victory:
Classic plans are the same if not more then value plan, America refuses to see the true value of devices they still expect a phone to be free or really low cost. I think what tmobile is doing is great but I can also see the main reason is so they can carry the iPhone without paying the hefty fee other carriers have been paying to subsidize it. Everybody complains about buying the note 2 on classic and how tmobiles subsidized prices are too high compared to other carriers yet they don't also charge you the price other carriers do for the service. Value as I see it is the best thing you can have if you love changing your phone buy and sell at the right times and you can get yourself a new phone very often spending much less then doing it on contract, granted you will always pay some sort of out of pocket but that's the cost we paying for the love of our tech. I think if you put the note on eip you owe 400 make ten payments which is just ten months you will owe 200 in ten months, I'm sure the note can still go for 300 or more so you sell pay it off and buy your new device. Value plans with eip tend to be a bit less then classic and a good amount less then other carriers so yes the contract portion is hard to swallow but in the end tmobile is financing you a phone without regards to your credit with no interest and giving you a lower monthly rate. Value is a good system for the smart buyer and I'd be ok with the contract the way I see it tmobile still took a risk financing you for the contract and hopefully they continue there trends with good phone sales people who bought the note on the recent sale after rebate got the note for 500 which is a steal on this device at full cost.

After watching the video I understand what they are planning with the service plans packages. Classic Plan no more. Value Plan is it. You can buy the device full price from T-Mobile or somewhere else then go for the Value Plan. Or you can go for the Value Plan and make payments toward your device, which would add to the cost of what is now the Classic Plan. I feel that this is good long term for the customer's pocket and to educate the customer of the truth of subsidies plan packages from other carriers.
When it comes to the merger: I would not of went to T-Mobile without having the knowledge that they merging with Metro PCS. I had a good feeling that this merger is a good thing, just didn't know how it would play out.
I am also curious on how the branding, especially the company names, is going to play out. The way they are talking it looks like they may have changed plans on the name banding plans.
I am planning on switching to T-Mobile and I did some research to try and find the best deal possible since I am going to get into a new 2 year contract. I am a college student attending the University of Ohio and my university doesn't have a direct relationship with the school. I found a discount via the T-Mobile Advantage program and I attached the flyer here.
You get
A $50 account credit with a new activation (expires on 12/31)
Waived activation fees
10% discount
You have to call CS to activate I am not sure whether you can do it online. There is a promo code in the flyer which you have to mention. That discount is also affiliated with the student discount website Student rate. I am not sure whether you actually have to be a student or not.
Has anyone used this discount before??
Well with everything make sure you read the fine print, always little things to reduced the discounts you're getting. You sure you want tmobile they are not definitely not the best company in terms of customer service and business model. Anywho you should definitely check out best buy, they usually have really good deals on phone.
Right now they have the s3 for 179.99 way cheaper than what you would get it at tmobile around 300 or so. Make sure you call them because for some reason tmobile doesn't allow in store pickup(****ty business model). Also I don't know how all that works when you starting off, I was just upgrading good luck.

Examine if you really need to enter a 2-year contract.
Look at the Montly 4G plans. What are your needs - how many minutes and how much data do you need ?
I went with the 100minute/unlimited texting/5Gb plan for $30/mo. Even buying the phone up-front I'm saving a great deal over locking myself into a contract - a contract that wouldn't even give me what I actually wanted.
I made the mistake of going contract with Sprint on my first phone off of my family's the family plan. Overpaid for service I barely used. I don't see myself going back to contract plans - you overpay in the long-run - much more than if you just bought the phone and then paid a lower rate for the service instead of the hidden fee of paying them back for that "free" or "reduced cost" phone.
For instance, if I went with Verizon and paid $80/mo for their cheapest smartphone plan, that's $1200 more over two years than I'm paying now. Take away the $450 I spent on the phone - that's still $750. I could literally buy a brand new phone with THAT, even and two great-condition used ones. Maybe I'm a cynical jerk, but carrier subsidising is just a way to trick you into paying more money.

It really is for most cases. Just some people like to aim high and go for an s3 and not everyone has 700 upfront to pay a company. While you end up paying more in a contract most people get paid every 2 to 4 weeks and are satisfied paying a fee monthly and two years is not very long. After the two years you can always take that phone you bought and get into those no contact based companies like metro etc.

By a t mobile s3 no contract or steal one lol, just get one. Then go to si. Please mobile and get the rg plan 53 dollars a month and that's it.. "unlimited" data message and minutes. 3g is cheaper also does not need to be unlocked. I'm on it currenttly

This was the bill I just payed in the beginning of March and the text the sent me. Customer service e helps u set up your apn.. They help unlike the douche that is t-mobile.

I pay $30 plus less than $2 in sales tax with T - Mobile.
I've never had an issue with their customer service - and it was I fact one of the reasons I was happy to switch to them when my contract with Sprint was up.
People need to pick what works best for them.

Bad thing about t-mobile is that when you run your limit on t-mobile they put you on 2g. Simp puts you on 3

Bad thing abiut Simple Mobile is that I'd pay $50 to be throttled after 2Gb whereas I now pay $30 and get 5Gb until throttled. And T - Mobile avtually tells you about the soft data cap up front.
Hey, Simple Mobile is great for whoever it works for, and T - Mobile is great for who it works for. Notice that I'm not calling them "douches" even though I disagree with some of their business practices.

I am calling them douche because I've had a family plan since the razor came out and the price just gets crazy. They treated me like a wallet. And yeah simp tells you, read the fine print.

So we got a couple of new phones from T-Mo back in Nov 2012, thereby extending our contract for two years.
Now looking at their new Simple Value Plans, I am tempted to move over - as I am currently paying about $140 for 2 lines under family plan with Unlimited T&T and 5GB data ($20 Preferred Android plan) - My motivation to move is lower pricing and option to Tether - since I dont have that available to me under my current Preferred Android Data plan)
Tmo rep told me that there would be a $200/line migration fee - (Fair enough) and that they would give me $100 credit - so I end up paying $300 one time at the time of switching - I would still remain under contract though until I complete it.
Now if I decided to terminate the contract with TMob - I still have to pay $200/line ETF - however this gets me out of my contract completely - I can then sign up under a new value plan - no more contract.
I am not sure if under this second option, I will lose our current mobile #s ....... Though d move to Straight talk ($45/line for unlimited talk text and data) Prepaid plan, I can port my number and save some money - if i dont like it, I can sign up again with TMobile under their no contract simple value plan and bring my same number back
Is it worth all this trouble? I do want tethering and eventually to move over to Tmob Simple value plan - ETF or Migration ???
Any other options?

Second option you week lose your number. The account must be active to pry a number. Your third option I don't think we'll work either. Most companies won't let you port a number out that you ported to them.
By the way that's what I did, so I think it's worth it

Once in 2008, I did port my number out of Tmo to Verizon through my employer, and later when I changed jobs, ported it back to Tmob... so thats not an issue...
One other option that comes to mind is to get two new lines under value plan from Tmob and once they are active, port these numbers over to those and pay the etf for breaking the contract... not sure if Tmob will agree to internal porting though.
Anyone has experience with Straight Talk?
When I was at tmobile they were trying to get me to move to the new plans but there weren't any fees involved. Just a straight move but I kept my value plan coz it was about 20 bucks cheaper.

Since, there is only one type of "Simple" plan available, thats the plan i mean - whatever they may call it - Value, Uncarrier or anything else
I couldnt understand the quoted sentence above - tell me again.
I switched all my 4 lines to the new plans and didn't have to pay any migration or etf fees. Just a simple straight move from the old plan to the new one; saving me about $40 a month including taxes/fees.
I was also under contract with a few months left. I'm no longer under contract since the switch. Try getting another rep to help you.

The fee is based on how long you've been under your current contact. So you being near the end of your contact there is no fee. For people just starting out on the contract it's 200.

First... are you looking at family plan or 1 linea...
I have family value plan of $90 at months, my linea is unlimited internet and my girl is 2gb of high speed internet. I dont care of unlimited talked. Uncarrier first linea is $50 plus $20 unlimited internet, at a second linea for $30 plus $10 of 2gb inertnet or $20 unlimited. So there is no more value plan, only uncarrier..

I've ported my number 3 different times. From Tmobile to Cricket to Sprint and back to Tmobile. The carriers can't stop you from porting a number, but on occasion, their systems will screw something up and the number gets lost.

I have found that the sales people on the phone are more motivated and flexible than in the store and that you can negotiate pretty much what you want. When you ask for something, they say, "Hold on", ask their boss, and, invariably, say yes to your offer, or, come back with a good counter-offer. I have unlimited everything (real unlimited, i.e., no slow down) on three lines for about $220. I have never paid any activation fees and have even had fees waived in return for extending the contract. And don't worry about the tethering issue - if you root and flash a custom ROM, you can create your own hotspot for free even if the feature is not included in your plan.

I hear ya! In the past, T-Mobile has always been generous and within my ability to reason and negotiate with - so no complaints about that but for some reason, I find that suddenly they have become very unrelenting and unwilling to negotiate on some aspects of ones contract (Such as migration fee) - When I asked the Loyalty CSR he said that in the past, under various classic plans they had a lot of margin, but with these new ultra competitive uncarrier plans there is just no room to negotiate - I can understand that - yet, as a customer I have to negotiate
Anyway - they have agreed to give me $160 slack on my migration fee - so instead of $400 on my two family plan lines it will be $240 - and then the CSR mentioned that in June my current classic contract will enter its 8th month which will drop $50 from my Migration fee on each line down to $300 for both - the discount they offered of $160 will continue to be valid even then (CSR Notated the account) so it would make most sense to change over in june with the Migration Fee of only $140 ($300 MF -$160 discount). I created an XL sheet to check my breakeven compared to my current classic plan and by October I will be ahead on the Uncarrier plan.
I plan to go with Unlimited T&T family for $80, $10 for 2gb tethering data for wife and $20 /4gb tethering data for self. If I can get myself to root my note 2 by then and add the hotspot, I may just go with the $20 unlimited high speed data.
Somehow, unlike my previous devices, I am very happy with the stock rom and don't want to get into dealing with bugs, missed updates etc with custom roms - so I may just stay stock / unrooted.
ps - btw great signature image - where did you get such clean images of your past phones?

Thanks. I just searched google images.
So I haven't seen this type of thread yet, I was at my local Walmart and the tag was there but no phone, not even the dummy. It was listed for 198.88* and the * meant with qualifying upgrade or new agreement (2yr contract). I left there and dialed 611 and asked for retention to the bot operator. Once I got through, they wouldn't budge from 149 down and 20 bucks a month deal. I've been a T-Mobile customer since it was Voice Stream and the rep noted that, but still wouldn't budge. She suggested I go third party, but even at that route, I am not eligible for full upgrade until November. I have an old grandfathered family plan and I won't ditch it for the new plans just to get this phone, I'd buy a S3 before that happened. Anyway, has anyone gotten or found any better deals, Costco, Sam's (I didn't have time to stop in while on lunch).

In your case, since its a yera before you can upgrade, your best option is to buy off contract, waiting may have a drop in price, but how long to wait. At the rate Samsung has been releasing Galaxy series devices, it will be 6 months before we see the Note 3 or S5 lol. Wirefly may have deals, but third party seems to be an alternative. And if the sales rep is nice or want to make a sale, maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel for you.
May I ask how much you are paying for your data now? Do you have any promotions on data, like loyalty/BtV?
I'm aware that the regular rates for data under the Classic is $20 for 2GB (cheapest one). If you were put on the Bridge to Value, I believe that goes down 50% ($10). If you also got a loyalty discount like me, it is $5; and actually, that is $5 for 5GB of 4G/LTE data for each line - this is the Preferred deal through the loyalty department.
I'm asking because when I tried to upgrade our phones (we haven't upgraded in 4 years), we would lose those promotions ($5 goes back to $20). If you already pay $20 and this won't affect you, then just buy it cheap at Walmart. If you do have those promotions like me, you should have the option online from my.t-mobile.com to do the EIP plan and keep your plans and services unchanged.
Hope that helps.

Costco is $199.99 for 2 years. Unfortunately they don't have them in stock nor will they know when. My guess is May 15th, when all the 3rd party stores receive stock (keeping fingers crossed). I am actually willing to wait this time, save over $400!

We have my faves still (free lol), unlimited text, 1000 family minutes shared between 5 lines currently, and after the wife and I added data for just us, our minute usage went from nearly 800-900 minutes use to maybe 100 give or take. So am I. Contract was originally expiring this month (May 2013). Called them back early March and thinking of quitting early, but offered some great deals (almost fooled me!) and I extended my contract (now ending 2015). There were some hiccups along the way, concerning how I can upgrade my phone and what was offered. After multiple calls the next few days, we ended up with what I think is a good deal.
So I have 4 lines on my account.
Classic 1000 Whenever Minutes - $60 (Shared)
Preferred Unlimited Texting - $15 (Shared)
Preferred Android Web (Unlimited Data up to 5GB of 4G/LTE) - $20 ($5 Each Line)
Add a Line fee - $10 ($5 for 2 additional lines)
Loyalty Discount = -$10
Corporate Discount = -$15
_______________________ TOTAL MONTHLY BILL: $80 + taxes. Not bad huh?
I'm looking at ~$2600 (include taxes) for my T-Mo service for the next two years.
Then I have to factor the cost of the phones. All 4 of my lines were using crappy old dumb phones. We haven't upgraded in over 4 years! So we got a Nexus 4 ($350), S Relay ($250), S3 ($300 total), S4 ($650?) = ~$1600. Now I just have to figure out how to lower the cost of that S4.

That's a good deal, I think I pay 90 for the wife and I, I just added a line for $10 for my son, and I split the bill with my parents, they just have voice lines with text and myfaves. Buying the phones up front and having a plan that is grandfathered and technically out of contract is where you save in the end. Follow the unofficial tmobile blog, http://www.tmonews.com/ good intel there and updated often.
Nexus 4 and S Relay were bought in Best Buy off-contract. I got them to price match. The S3 was bought through T-Mobile, as a new added line on my account for the discounted Classic price of $149-$50 rebate. It's been over 30 days so I plan on cancelling that line and pay the ETF of $200, which brings the cost for the S3 to $300. I am planning on doing the same with the S4, but the trick here now is patience. To be able to profit, I would need to wait on the price to come down. It is still $299 with 2-year contract. I'm not even considering places like Amazon and Walmart because of other complications. They also charge their own fees if you cancel early - this is because they earn commissions when activating or upgrading a carrier's phone, thus they can give instant discounts. BB does not have this policy (as of today at least).

Like I said, if buying the phones up front just to save a bit on the monthly bill doesn't save me a lot of money in the long run (over 2 years), then it's not worth it. Plus, it's not like everyone has $6-700 lying around to buy a phone for full price upfront. I had to find the cheapest good phones (Nexus 4 and S Relay). I am also adamant about keeping my current Classic plan and all the loyalty promotions and discounts. However, for my S4, I got them through the EIP. I paid the $200 down payment including taxes, and then $20 for two years. That brings the total cost to $680 for the phone.
I can't afford to pay that whole amount right now. It's too much. I gotta take the hit over 24 months. Now, I do have 14/20 days to see if there are better alternatives. one of which is that S3 approach.

I had grandfathered plan at $20 for 5 GB and one option in the order page was to retain your plan as is - which I did. Do not know if they would maintain the $5 - $10 plans if you select that option, but it stated that no change would be made to the extended plan.
If that was the case, you get the best of both - 2 more years at the low rates and the phone for $200.

That don't say anything, what did you pay, final bill?
Anybody else taking advantage of the $325 T-Mobile rebate? With new phone deals as rare as they are these days, I jumped on that ****! After 18 years with AT&T (well, it was Pacific Bell then Cingular THEN AT&T), I'm moving to T-Mobile and saving $100 across 5 lines, plus everyone has unlimited voice/text/data, PLUS free Netflix, AND a $325 rebate on the Pixel 2 XL.
I'm going to switch from Verizon to T-Mobile and get this deal. I would not have been able to justify the cost of a Pixel 2 XL 128 GB otherwise.
T-Mobile Promotion: Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL
You mean this one? OMG, that deal is so sweet, makes me so envy on your guys in US...
It really isn't a deal for existing customers. Every new promotion T-MOBILE implements, it ignores existing customers.
so the terms do not say if or how long you have to stay with them. as they have no contracts can you switch a couple months later??? also does their senior discount plan qualify for this promotion?? i am on fi averaging less than $40 a month,on the senior plan it would be $50 by myself but unlimited everything.

That’s not true. If you’re an existing customer and your port over the phone on a new line you get the deal. As I’m just swapping out my old phone and replacing it with the pixel 2XL I will not. If I added a line I would have

This statement is sort of contradicting. If I'm an existing customer with 2 lines on a family plan, why would I want to create a new line? I have to create and pay for a new line, just to get a deal? That doesn't help me in any way. T-MOBILE isn't allowing people to do what they did last year. Some were able to use the promotion with a current line, but if I have to create a new line this isn't a deal.

its not contradicting at all. he said it wasn't available to existing customers. I explained it is and this is what you have to do. You not wanting to do it is your prerogative.

At the end of the day, the average existing TMobile customer isn't going to take this deal. It holds minimal value. It's only used to sway Verizon customers to T-MOBILE.

true but it is still available and some may take advantage of it depending on their needs etc
I'm considering this deal as well. Looks like it's effectively a $169 rebate. My take on what I've read you have to keep your TMO line for 2 months, the cheapest plan is SC unlimited at $65/mo, plus there is a $25 fee for a SIM card. After 2 months you get a prepaid debit card with $324 on it. So $324 - $65 - $65 - $25 = $169. A hassle, but maybe worth $169.
It's not worth it to me, since I currently pay $40 per month, unlimited everything, with MetroPCS. If I switch to Tmobile, that bill goes up to $70 per month, so after the 10th month, it's no longer a good deal for me.
if you do the math, a new line will cost 40-50$ on a family plan depending on which t-mo family plan you're already on.
Do the math and over time you're paying for the phone all over again just to add a new line

He didn't say that at all. He said "It really isn't a deal for existing customers" as in it's not something an existing customer would want to do. Everyone can take advantage of the deal, but it wasn't designed for current customers. Anyways, it likely has the same terms and conditions as when they had the BOGO LG G6 deal... You must add a new line, but you're ineligible if you had cancelled a line X amount of months prior and you cannot cancel a line for X amount of months after. Any other previous deals that they've made for existing customers required that they change their plans to the new T-Mobile ONE plan. Those of us who are grandfathered in pay less for unlimited than those on the ONE plan and they often do deals to try to entice their grandfathered customers to switch to the new plan.
I am doing this deal, I already have a family plan with 5 lines, so adding a new line will only cost $10 a month with kickback credit. After I get the rebate I will cancel the line.
Im on cricket now and I am going to take advantage of this offer. Some "free" money and i get to see the true speed of the phone, signal wise. Has anyone initiated this deal yet or do we need the phone in hand? I believe it only asks for proof of purchase?
I think its only for the one unlimited plan which is 70$ a month.. what if i dont want the sim card..lol company pays for my phone but saving a buck im good with... They only pay for srrvice

If you enable autopay it brings it down to $70, and if you use less than 2 GB, they give you a $10 "kickback" credit. If you are a Costco member they don't charge for sim cards
I am going to add a line to get this deal. I really don't need the new line so once I get the master card I am going to cancel it
If on a family plan, adding a line is only $10-$20 a month. If you have it for 1 month for the gift card to ship, it's not much. Once it shows shipped online, you can cancel. Customer service usually will waive sim card fees as well. Not bad to get $325 back.
