Is there any way to lower the S-Pen sensitivty? I had the same problem with my Note 1 in that a lot of time the S-Pen would register and write something even tho it wasn't actually touching the screen. It gets annoying sometimes especially in text messages when I'm trying to use Swype to type out a quick message and it would "Swype" words or letters I wasn't even trying to use. It doesn't do it all the time but when it does it is really annoying.

I have the same problem. I suspect my S-Pen is defective. Samsung wants me to try a factory reset before they replace it but I haven't had a chance.
I was having the same issue. This is what I did and it seemed to help. With the S pen out I turned Airview off then rebooted phone. With the pen still out I turned Airview back on and again rebooted. I repeated the steps with the pen in its home. It has been about 24 hours and seems to be fine, still sensative but not writing or marking all over my work.
Hope I could help out.

I've searched, but couldn't find anything about this.
When I open the keyboard when replying to a text message sometimes the text reply box partially disappears off the bottom of the screen and you can only see the top line. Annoyingly it stays like this until I soft reset.
Does anyone have any solution for this?
I've had this same error since WM 5, through 6.1, and still on 6.5. I was very disappointing to see this bug was not fixed, its such a stupid problem.
It's not a fix but instead of soft reseting just push the keyboard icon on the screen to bring up the keyboard, then push it again and the size will adjust
I don't know if this is the same issue i get from time to time but what happens on mine is that i am able to see at lease part of the field when i input my text but when it goes past that one line it doesn't automatically scroll down so i don't know what i am typing anymore. what i do when that happens is that i go to my task manager and I stop the text messaging; when i bring it back up it is back to normal.
I get all kinds of weird things that happen in the landscape txt screen. YOur problems, and sometimes the right half of the screen will go spastic and show an inverted, backwards, distorted, partial view of the contact photo. Or the right half of the screen will look, well, scrambled, for lack of better description...
Sometimes just tapping in the entry box will fix it.
Other times I will switch to landscape, start to type on the HW keyboard only to find that it only registered the first few characters of what I wrote. I then have to tap the entry area before starting to type again

Is there a way to disable the on-screen keyboard from auto-opening?..Seems like that would resolve the issue.

I've had the exact same issue since getting my Tytn II when it very first came out, on the official software Orange and on my new TP2 with NRG's Photon Rom running 6.5. I can confirm that flicking the on screen keyboard on and then off rectifies the problem everytime. I don't know what causes the issue and it doesn't happen with every message a slight annoyance but opening and closing the on screen keyboard is better then soft resetting
Got a quick question that i'm hoping you guys can help me with:
Is there a way to completely disable the slide out keybaord on a Tilt2?
I recently woke up to my phone sitting in a puddle of water all night and promptly started freaking out. Fortunately the phone is ok, for the most part. The only issue is the physical keyboard. Water must have damaged part of the board because now when I go to send txt messages, it starts spitting out random characters as if some of the buttons are stuck in the down position. Same thing happens when i go to make a call.
I've narrowed it down to the top 2 rows of the keyboard not functioning, and the characters that on the top 2 rows are the numbers and letters that keep repeating any time I try to enter text into a field.

To disable the keyboard, just don't slide it out and use it. It's that simple. lol
Yeah unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter if the keyboard is out or not. Thats why I am trying to disable it completely.
I saw another post where someone had the same problem. The solution that came up was to change the keyboard's registry value to 0. But it didn't work for me.
Hello people,
I have a problem when texting with my desire and it's this annoying i think of selling it if no-one has a solution for this.
The problem is when typing a textmessage to someone. When i have like a bigger conversation (in the way that you have to scroll up to see the first textmessage of the conversation) and i'm busy typing the message, the phone would suddenly jump up to the very top of the conversation. The keyboard dissappears and i have to manually scroll down the whole conversation again to be back at the screen where i was writing the message in to continue typing.
It's very annoying and sometime's it happens like 3 times typing one textmessage.
If the conversation is rather big (take 200 textmessages) i'm more busy scrolling than typing. Quite silly for a highend phone.
I flashed, flashed, flashed, full wiped everything over again and the problem just doesn't disappear.
Someone noticed this too?
I also suffer from this annoying issue from time to time. It would be great if somebody could help us!

Since Froyo/Android 2.2;
Sometimes when writing SMS, the typing window can disappear and the display zooms all the way up to the very first message to that contact.
You could scroll back down endlessly of course, but instead just turn the phone to change the screen orientation and you'll get straight back to the text entry window.
SOMEtimes even that doesn't work, in which case menu/add subject. That'll get you back to the text entry window for sure. (Obviously don't actually enter a subject or it'll change the message to an MMS)

Also you can just hold down the Menu button and it will open the keyboard and go back to the bottom of the messages

Hi everyone!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III on sprint, its running the stock ROM and needs to stay that way. The problem I am having is that the phone will NOT let me turn off swype. The option to deselect it is greyed out. This is VERY annoying because while typing a text message, I will sometimes role my finger a bit to one side, or i wont pick my finger up all the way. This results in massive typos and makes txting take about twice as long as it took me on my HTC Evo 4G. I have attached a screen shot of the screen showing the greyed out selection. Any help with this huge issue would be amazing!
Also, has anyone noticed an error where when typing a txt, the phone will offer you a word and if you take that suggestion and tap it, sometimes it deletes almost your whole txt message and you have to start over? I have had this happen way too many times for this not to be some strange programming error.
Anyway, thanks!
It looks like you have your default set to the Samsung Keyboard, I think that's about as much as you can do. I don't seem to understand your problem, if you're not using Swype why do you need to disable it entirely?
If you're using the Samsung Keyboard make sure you turn off the "Flow" setting. Tap the little gear at the right of the keyboard name. Or switch to a keyboard that doesn't have a "flow" setting like AI Keyboard or Thumb Keyboard. Whatever you do, don't use Swype if you don't want one finger sliding typing.
Yep!
Yep, you figured it out! Thanks mordbane! That was what fixed it! This is why I like xda and have been a member and coming here for so long, you guys have never failed me. I have attached a image of the setting I had to deselect! It was the T9 trace! No more badly messed up txts and typos! I just tested and now I can txt at a high speed with out any typos at all!
Seriously though, thanks again!
I'm having problems with my Fold 4 not registering taps. I tap a space on the screen and nothing happens. I do it several more times, and finally it responds. I haven't seen a clear pattern yet, because it's somewhat intermittent. Has anyone else seen this problem?
I'm slightly suspicious of the Microsoft launcher here., but I suspect that's because it gets the majority of my taps, it being the launcher. I haven't had that problem in the past.
Just a minute ago I sat down to make a video of what I was seeing in case I thought an exchange might help. It happened on the first try, and I wound up having to press it five times with escalating pressure to finally get it to react. For the record, I have not seen a correspondence between pressure and the problem. I think I just naturally start pushing harder and when it works, it feels like it was more pressure. But when the problem isn't occurring, it takes very little pressure to register a tap.
Not using the Microsoft Launcher, but I am using SwiftKey, and I do have the same issue, especially with the space key. Mostly with the outside screen BTW.
Ah, I should have been more specific. Yes, I've only seen the problem on the outer screen so far. And I'm using gboard for my keyboard.
I've had a similar issue but it seems to have gotten better. Being intermittent makes it hard to pinpoint
I initially transferred apps and data from my Note 20 and was having issues on the outside and inside screen of taps not registering. Finally did a FDR and set up from scratch, haven't had the issue again. I always setup from scratch and took a shortcut this time, lesson learned!

I actually did an FDR last yesterday to try and solve the problem. Naada. It was still there for me.
I'm currently using Samsung's OneHome UI to see if it's something with the MS Launcher. Good god, I hate their launcher!
It feels like the sensitivity on the outer (cover) screen is too low, and combined with much smaller keys on keyboards (I use GBoard) there are plenty of missed hits and no response. Try turning on touch sensitivity and see if it improves ( Setting -> Display -> Touch Sensitivity. Mine went a tad better. I also changed the layout preferences to 'normal' keyboard height and most of my misses are now gone..
I'm having same issue but not with the keyboard but with tapping on apps on the home screen. I'm able to almost reproduce it every time in the middle of the screen. Is there any update on this issue?
I've got same issue that a tap on a app gets no action. Happens occasionally. Must be a bug.
After a factory reset mine has come back too. Hopefully we will get some bug fixes with the September security update.

Same. I never have a problem in application, it's only when I'm interacting with the launcher.
I think the issue is with the refresh rate dropping. I used the galaxy max hz app and increased the base hz on the phone and I'm noticing response being much better now.
I also have this issue on my Fold 4's cover screen. I've always used the debug option to show where I touch, and when my touches don't register I still see the touch indicator, so I can only assume this is a software issue not deciding what to do with the touch. I think One UI might be overly sensitive for gestures, and detects taps as drags/swipes. A mini swipe on an app or folder on the home screen for instance won't do anything (which happens to me frequently).
I've had that problem quite a few times as well, not enough to drive me crazy but enough to be slightly annoying. It only happened when taping on the bottom of the screen. It often registered my taps as a swipe up. I saw the homescreen starting to go up slightly as if it was going to enter the drawer. Then one day I realized it was my way of tapping the screen that was the culprit. The way I hold my phone makes me ever so slightly swipe up as I tap the screen, but only when taping the bottom part, if I tap anywhere else, I don't tend to move my finger up as I tap. Of course, I'm talking minuscule amount of swiping here, probably less than a millimeter. It's just the way I hold the phone and move my thumb, it's personal, and I think everyone is going to have a different experience depending on how they hold their phone and tap the screen. Anyway, I'm not saying "you're using it wrong", because I think it's a problem samsung must fix, as I don't have that problem on any other phone. Probably too sensitive. I just tried to reproduce the problem as I write this message, and succeeded twice in less than 20 tries, so definitely the problem is still there. It's just that now I tap straight on instead of "sideways", and it works just fine. Just a workaround, I know...
Edit: on the cover screen, of course. Inside screen works fine with crooked taps.
Glad im not the only one. On the outer screen i have had times where I have to tap something 3 times for it to register... I never had this issue with my Z Fold 2
