Is there already a launcher 5x6 and more?
With SGS3 5x6 was perfect, so no doubts we need something like that here also!
Anyone seen something like that?

You try the Nova launcher. It's not TouchWiz, so you will miss out on the buddy pages for extract pen, insert headphone, etc, but you'll have a lot more additional functionality to play with. I bought Nova launcher and love my 5x7 grid, 7 icons in the dock, resizeable widgets, etc. It's just that little bit extra..

Also on Nova! Fast, small & reliable. Nearly all functions available in free version too.

I`m using Nova with my grid set at 10x8. You need to press volume down while in Nova settings to enable the Lab settings and tick the Big Grid Size Options.

You can take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960039

Keep in mind that Nova has wallpaper cropping issue.

Go Launcher Ex allows this and other enhancements. It seems fast and light on resources, and works with S-Pen functionality like the pop-up Notepad when the S-Pen is taken out of its dock.

That's actually a Note2 function. Works with any good launcher, so Nova too...
There's also a function to be bound to the "insert headphone" act; the only thing missing are the additional buddy pages for these actions, but speaking for myself, that's hardly a miss... YMMV

Launcher for GN2!

Well I just came from rooted mytouch 4g and loved the endless possibilities of being rooted! But I don't want to root this GN2 yet because of warranty but enough said I want to change my dpi or just change the size of things and love a good launcher with lots of themes but not any launcher IV tried has abilities to change icon size or dpi...
Any one found a good launcher besides nova prime, or go launcher

I hate Go Launcher. It used to be great. Then they switched over to GetJar to download themes, and they have Free to download but pay to use themes. It's a huge mess. I personally like Nova or Apex. Although now that ADW has updated their app, I've been using that. I have to say it works pretty well, though each time I reboot I have to reset it as the default launcher.
I love the stock launcher with a few exceptions; I don't understand why they made the pages a 4x4 grid. The Note fully justifies a 5x5 grid. I wish that the other launchers gave you the ability to quick-scroll between pages in the homescreen and in the dock like the stock touchwiz launcher does.
I changed my DPI to 280 and use Go Launcher with a 6x6 grid and works very well. Now the stock Samsung keyboard and dialer did not scale correctly, but I use Swipe and the Go Dialer.
Adw has gotten as lot better and after a haitus from it I'm back and it's better than it had ever been

Not finding that on the play store. Are you referring to a theme or an actual launcher?

Still stuck on Nova launcher. Fast, stable and the backup feature is in the free version. $4 for the pro, gives you message and email counts on the icons, just like TW.

You could simply use one of the toolkits. And if something happens you can use it revert back to complete stock.

Well, I finally invested the time in learning enough about Lightning Launcher. It's really COMPLETELY different than other launchers I've tried, which is what I like about it. I've tried Apex, ADW, Nova and briefly touched GO -- they're all pretty much the same -- all pretty good. Lightning is kind of a big pain to figure out and it doesn't give the option for a scrollable dock, but you can pin, resize, rotate and arrange all icons, widgets and folder labels in whatever way you want, all on a zoomable, scrollable page. You can't really apply themes, but you can make up whatever you want. Your screen is really like a window onto an infinite desktop that you have full control over. It doesn't have the fancy animation options that the others do, so there's not a lot of "Wow" factor for others to see, but I have everything accessible from a single screen that doesn't feel too cluttered with icons. Lightning is free from Play and doesn't require root.
FWIW, here's a screen shot of my home page -- The two rows of icons at the bottom are pinned as well as the Google search widget at the top. Everything else moves and zooms in or out behind the pinned stuff. If I want, I can place other items above, below, or to the sides and just scroll to them. Lightning does support other pages that you can switch to with a two-finger swipe, and I use them as sort of a sandbox for trying things out, but everything I want is on my main home page.
I've been using atom launcher for a while first on my s2 and now on my note2. It will let you create folders which is nothing new but you can scroll with your finger or with the S Pen. Also you can vary the opacity of the icons on the home screen if you want to keep some what of a clean look. I'll post pics to better explain.

I'm pretty sure I've tried them all, and seem to always revert back to Nova Pro. Its fast, stable, has nice features without be gimmicky like Go and some of the others. Bottom line I want something that works that isn't at burden on system resource, Nova fits that bill.

Root modifies your devices's firmware, so...no :/

So, what launcher are you guys using?

I'm irritated. I bought Nova Prime two months back and it is a great launcher, lite and so smooth. But I just found wallpaper cropping issue two days back and now I won't use it until it's fixed.
I tried Apex then, well it has homescreen transparency bug, dock scrolling is terribly laggy, as well as folder opening.
Then I tried Go, and that infamous App drawer lag problem still exists!
Just some hours ago I gave a try to ADW and it too has wallpaper cropping issue.
I'm back to TW now, it's the fastest and smoothest no doubt, but no customized icons, below average app drawer, no homescreen grid customisation and stuffs.
I need something which will be light and works fast, and NO bugs. So what you guys are using?
Thanks in advance.

Used to use nova prime and widget locker for my GS2 which I bought for a total of ~8 dollars. However, when I moved to note 2 I no longer saw any use for them. Touchwiz in this phone is hugley improved and so is the lockscreen.
SPB SHELL 3D(best one ,i checked every single launcher before using it) but it has no transition for ALL Applications section...

Most people I know use Nova or Go. I think Apex is far nicer and looks closer to a clean Android build. Far easier to customise your icon grids and transitions.

It has redraw problems and the dock and folder menu is lagging horribly for me. When I had my S2 it was favourite launcher too, but back then it didn't lag.

Same here! I've tried all these launchers along with Holo hd and Atom launcher but the best one out of these imo is Nova prime with no stutter/lag. But I can't find an option to customise the app drawer grid layout (which is fixed at 4x5) wasting a lot of space. So, back to stock TW, fastest & smoothest but ugly big icons imo !
Not sure if this has been asked before but does changing launchers affect the S Pen features?

i always use TSF Shell, which i think is the best and i tried a lot
Don't know if this is related to your cropping issue on Nova but I just use the Android settings menu to set the wallpaper instead of Nova settings. Settings -> Display ->Wallpaper. Background is crisp and sharp.
Holo launcher its really cool:beer::beer:

+1, i also use TSF shell, the new version allowed you to customized the icon as well and for drawer side, u can customize the number of row and columns. the best part and the part that i loved the most is the folder image, so nice, rather than just a square box represent a folder. regarding the home screen icon setting and placement are way to customize, u can just arrange or rotate around the icon as you wish and u even can use the grid line in order to arrange your symmetric. Believe me, the best launcher that i ever had use.
the second launcher i would recommend is either GO or SPB shell 3D.
you choose buddy.

note 2 launchers

Hello i have not seen a thread about launchers, the only reason i ask is are any of you trying out apex are nova launchers?? what are your experiences with them? are which do you prefer??
I'm using Apex. It's free, simple, and it does what I want. I think Nova would also work for me. I've used Nova on another device, and I only chose Apex on the note because I've never tried it before.
Things I want on my note's launcher:
6x8 grid of icons on the launcher (I like to arrange them in a hex pattern like the old winmo 6.5 start menu)
7 icons on the dock
vertically scrolling app tray because I hate paging.
6x6 grid in the app tray
app tray sorted alphebetically
Losing the special s pen launcher page didn't bother me. It only had the S Note widget on it, and it was easy to put that on another page. It was an excellent trade off for the better use of screen real estate.
press menu on the app tray than choose view type and than choose alphabetical grid
I'm using Holo Launcher HD. I first used it because it was the default launcher in slimbean on my vibrant. I find that the more I use it, the better I like it.
nove prime here. love it.
I use nova too, it's great!
Nova is still the best working one out there for me. Smooth. Customizable. Always end up back at that launcher.

Apex Launcher Pro and Nova Prime here. ...
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
Apex Launcher Pro
- I remove the dock
- 6x6 Home/Drawer
- Gestures
--- Swipe Up; Open Drawer
--- Swipe Down: Show Notification Shade
--- Double Tap home screen for menu
I like the gestures on Apex, helps with one-handed operation.
I know others have gestures, but Apex is the only one I tried, recently,
that the 'swipe up' also closes the app drawer. I swipe up to show it and
swipe up again to close it. Other launchers make you hit the 'home' or 'back'
button again. When you are using the stylus, it's quicker and more efficient.
The styus doesn't activate the 'back' button and I'm not using it to hit the 'home' button.

Better ui than touchwiz?

Any suggestion about ui? I would like to change from touchwiz to another one.
But just concern about performance and
If I change to another ui, will I lost some functionalities?

You could try one of the launchers out there. Nova Launcher would be a good place to start. One thing you'll definitely lose is Page Buddy - the homescreen panel that appears when you remove the S-Pen or plug in headphones.
Nova is simple and fast... I am using tsf shell.... it is something new. ..
Also you can try action launcher. ..simple and fast like nova
handwritten from my note 2 (N7100)
You will loose some of the widgets. I have tried Nova, Apex, SSlauncher and a few others but really like the smoothness of TW and the S-Planner widget.
+1 for Nova. Simple, fast, and is basically the closest thing to stock. Tw is great, but the inability to change homescreen grid was too much. With nova i can go up to 7x7 i think. In the past I've kept tw but only because other launchers took up too much ram. I don't think it's possible to run out of ram on this thing. Lol

"The Best" depends upon what you likes & what you want
plz don't ask questions which starts with Best
I don't know may be you could ask some thing like "Whats your Favorite Launcher for S3?"

I really like Next Launcher. Try it!
Action Launcher is my favorite. It has a few never seen before features as Covers (an app folder in which tapping the first app in it opens the app, a swipe opens the folder) and Shutters (swiping up an app shortcut displays a widget). The devs give great support. Albeit it does have some stability issues now and then, I can't go back to any other launcher

Tw.launcher from Samsung, a modified and super
I always liked Go Launcher and Nova Launcher, but then again it's a personal preference. There are some new interesting launchers though
If you are looking for the best ways to theme but still want the smoothness of tw launcher then you dont need a custom launcher. You can get away with installing Xposed framework then xposed theme engine. ( both found in the apps and themes section )
Then simply download your favourite theme or icon pack and install them through xposed theme engine and away you go mate.

I actually like the Atom launcher, and it runs smoothly on my S3. I'll just echo what the others said regarding personal preference. )
I used to have Nova Launcher all the time because of a certain theme from mycolorscreen. but now I use Smart Launcher. it categorizes all apps and I don't have to think about where to put all the app icons anymore
edit: also most launchers mess up the look of the homescreens when switching from portrait to landscape mode. smart launcher looks even better in landscape mode

once i got my hands on the s3 (my first smartphone yes) i used the stock launcher for a while but then got sucked into the world of theming and modifying the android platform. it started innocent with the go launcher series. got pretty sick of that fast as it drained my battery with the insane amount of addons for it that all keep the phone awake or something. then moved to nova but that couldnt 100% satisfy me then went to apex for a long time. last week i made a jump and started to try tsf shell (if you are willing to pull out a few bucks). cant really say wich is the best just personal preferences. each telephone has their own personality as it is a extension of you.
I prefer Action Launcher over other launchers. The app drawer and the shutters (swipe over an shorcut to open a widget) won me.
Nova Launcher
When looking for a launcher I always looked for the ones with the less RAM usage and as most of you have mentioned NOVA Launcher has the best performance on less RAM as well it is highly customizable making it perfect for a daily driver on my S3.:good:
Holo Launcher HD, good Performance and many options.
