following other guy's the instructions, i have to use titanium backup pro to freeze background tethering manager service first.
is there any better solution?
boring? i didn't know you were supposed to have fun opening tether manager.
You can also delete it with root explorer.
Boring...lol. Use app quarantine to freeze: it's free, and you only have to use it once.
I sent it to a ninja who did a ninja removal.

Go into settings and uncheck hide system services. Then it will show up in apps.
Quick question, if i had version of an app that worked well. and the google play store had a notification that told me to upgrade it to a version that would not work, how would one disable the update for that particular app
Delete marketupdater.apk in your /system/app I think or freeze it which ever floats your boat .

So I have AdAway and love it. But I frequently find myself disabling it because certain apps have an ad blocking detector. How do you white list apps properly on AdAway?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Go into the app hit the menu and go to YOUR LIST and it should take you there
I know that much. But what does it mean by host names

I am using adfree to block ads it does block some ads but not all the ads . What needs to be done to block all the ads in any app.

You talking about app ads or internet ads or both ?

Talking about app ads and internet ads also

The way AdFree works is it has a list of web addresses and domains that are commonly believed to be ad servers or dangerous sites...
If an ad is served from an address not in that list, it will not be blocked. Since New ads and ad servers are always popping up, no list wool eff be 100% complete.

I used to play a sudoku game that kept throwing up ads. I realized that it never needed to connect to the internet (only reason it had the permission was to retrieve the ads). So I just used DroidWall to block internet access to that app, and it disabled ads.
This method obviously wouldn't work with apps like Hulu, since it needs internet to function. But it's an option for those few apps (think of Hill Climb Racing) that don't really require internet.
Hope this helps.
Hi Team,
Is there any way I can lock or hide my apps in such a way that it can't be uninstall.
There are apps in the play store through which you can lock & hide apps but you can uninstall the apps through task manager or through soft key menu option.
Any advice? I have Samsung galaxy note 2
Thanks in advance.

Protect application with one of good SW from play store, I am using smart application protector since > 2 yrs and really nice
Then add protector application to device administration (to make it uninstallable)
Then protect
setting
play store
task manager
Installer
along with application you want to protect.
Thanks for you reply.... This application is good but all the apps which I have locked through this application can be uninstall by using the soft key in th menu..... by adding this in device administration I can't uninstall this app but can uninstall all the other apps which are locked using this app. Any advice for this?

With Soft key means?
Menu - uninstall, or long pressing on application isn't?
If you lock installer then it should ask password.
You have to protect all applications said in previous msg which can uninstall application.

In Note2, if you long press any app then you can move the app shortcut to home screen can't uninstall.
Soft key is the key which is at the left of the home button. If you touch the left soft key when you are in menu, you will find a list of options in which there is an option called uninstall when you select that option, a - sign pop up in each of the third party app. And when you touch that sign the selected third party app will uninstall.
There are two way we can resove this I guess :
1. If we can disable the function of uninstall from the soft key in a way that it ask for password as well or
2. We can have one app through we can hide apps and we can add the hiding app in device administration as well so no one can uninstall that app.

Got it
Anyway third party launcher will work, bcoz it will not have option to uninstall from menu.
Right now i am using Next launcher and having option to long press to uninstall and selecting it, pop up for password.
Thanks!
Do you know any app through which I can hide my apps and I can add the app in device administration.

You can't see CCSWE app manager in drwawer?
I have it in drawer and opening it will show you list of installed application and you can hide it from there.
I have uninstalled the app n install again. Now its showing but when I open it ask to confirm root privileges.
My phone is not rooted yet.
