Hello,
Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.
Can someone tell me what is the name of the app or program on Titanium to backup the desktop? ( In the Backup / Restore area )
On the HTC devices its called HTC desktop, I cannot find anything called desktop or similar on the Galaxy.
Thanks for the help!

Looked into that & I do not see an option to backup or save the destop ( apps ), only the wallpaper.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the reply.

Backup whatever launcher you're using and then reinstall. TW, Nova, apex, etc.

You have to tap backup/restore in titanium backup and select your applications which ever you need. An it can be restored.. Just tap on your needed application there will be a pop just tap backup.
When you reset your device or uninstalled any application you can restore it same way. When restoring there will be options like app/data or app only or data only

Ok so, I'm looking to change my Google account, right after a full wipe and everything. But i want to keep all my apps and their data. So my question is...what do I need to select in Titanium to do this? I tried not restoring system data, but that didn't work. So i guess I'm wondering if there's some way I can still get most of my stuff back without getting the Google account settings back.

You go into titanium backup press menu/batch then pick the second option backup all user apps.
After you are backup after your wipe open titanium backup press menu/batch then pick the 9th option, restore missing apps with data then you should be good to go

I'm sure there's a way to do it; I, personally, don't know where the settings are stored though

yes, you can backup apps+data with titanium backup, but how do you backup VPN, Wireless and other CM7-settings? afaik it is not possible to save those settings with titanium backup!?
if anybody could tell me where the settings are stored i could use adb shell or root explorer and simply copy them.

Your wireless network settings should automatically sync with your Google account, but there are options in TB to specifically back them up. I'm not sure about VPNs, but you could poke around for it. I only know that selecting "back up all user apps and system data" and restoring it is essentially a nandroid. Other than re-adding widgets and changing the wallpaper, I can't think of anything that it doesn't save.
ok, but this would be a complete backup. i could do this with rom manager. so my main question is: where are the CM7-settings stored?
There is way to changing my rom to another?with out lossing data and apps?
In titanium backup there is an option that saying create update.zip ,this option can restore data& installed apps after changing to new rom?
Thank u so much.
I really need this...

Not sure if that is a question? Or a statement!
Anyway assuming the first.....then yes use Titanium to back up all user apps and data. Also run the batch for system files and user data. Then after you flash a new ROM just install Titanium again and then "Restore user apps and data". Select only the third party apps to start with until you get a feel for the new Rom and what it includes 'out of the box'.
I never manager to figure out the update.zip thing even though I tried a couple of times to run the create batch.

You restore all your data in Titanium by pressing the Menu button and then pressing "Batch". Then you should see the restore all etc.
The update.zip option in the app is for restoring the actual backup app itself.

Is there any way to backup the layout (shortcuts) of homescreens. Setting up homescreens after a flash is killing me
i believe Titanium Backup has an option to backup your homescreen layout.
Thanx! Gonna try.

if you are using ADW launcher there is an option in the adw setting menu to do that,
Backup and restore
Backup ADW Settings
Backup Desktop Configuration
and you can easily restore the settings later on
Yeah, there is. But you'll have to set them up one last time.
Settings > Personalize > Scenes > (press menu) New.
Then place all the icons/widgets whereever you want them, and next time you flash a rom just go to scenes and select the one you made

That's useless because when flashing you'll mostly have to do a FULL WIPE and since everything is deleted this wont work.
Titanium didn´t do the trick. Thanks for your input. Will get in to ADW now!

Titanium always works for me... I don't know what you're doing but you need to backup and restore the green typed '[Desktop]' thingy, under the system filter.
Stupid me... It worked! Thanks.

1) In my opinion yes, I change it from Titanium Backup
2) MyBackup Root support Apps + data
And about Super Backup - SMS and Logs are stored in XML file - that you can menage it from PC. Contats are in VCF format and can be simple use in other devices.

I dont backup sms etc so dont need that app.
I earlier used titanium backup but its too slow and at times unresponsive.
Then i tried app backup and restore. Its fast but it doesnot back up ( apps + data )
Now gonna try my backup root.
Btw did u exactly understood what i meant by app + data ?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
I think yes - Apps and data don't backup in one file. You can restore only App, only data or App+data
Go backup is the best one. And its free!!
Apps+data, calls, wifi, msgs, call logs, all in one.
If u get the paid version u can have wallpaper, settings and online backup too.
E.g if i restore xda app, it wont ask to login again and go directly to favourites.. i want that kind of app.
Titanium backup can do that but as i already mentioned its a bitslow.
"App backup and restore" only backs up app. I.e like downloading an app...
Does Go backup restores app+data or only app ?

Spoiler.
