I gave a Galaxy S3 and what happen was i was rooted then accidentally updated phone so i lost root but the superuser icon was still there. So tried to reroot and it would not help so my question is how can i reroot my phone with superuser icon already installed because when i try it the phone thinks that it is already rooted.
Flash the Superuser zip file in my signature.
Sinve you've updated you're probably going to have stock recovery giving you some problems. If it does check post 3 of the firmware thread in development stickies for the fix!

My phone crashed and I don't have a computer near me I can use to install cwm recovery. Is there a way to install custom recovery without a computer for Dinc2? I've seen other phones but couldn't find anything on our forums. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by crashed?

Started bootlooping. I had PG32IMG on sdcard so I got phone to start by using that. If I restart the phone it starts bootlooping again. If I can get recovery I'm going to flash another Rom to see if that works

I just downloaded terminal emulator but can't get Su since I dont have root just revo unlocked bootloader

First...this should be in the Q&A or General thread.
Second, in either the Q&A or General thread I believe there was a thread not long ago about how to install CWM straight from the phone, so you might do a little searching to find that one. I don't have the link to it, but it wasn't long ago, so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Okay. If someone can move the thread to proper forums that would be awesome. Sorry about putting in wrong section.

I slightly remember seeing a similar problem somewhere when I rooted my phone. I want to say they had to uninstall su and all files from it on SD card and reinstall it. Maybe this will help.

I want to take the phone back but I have to unroot. I looked and cant find any info. Can any one direct me to the right place?
Thanks!
Cant you just unroot from the root app itself? I think ive read that around here before. Look under the settings in superuser. If that doesnt work, just download the stock rom from samsung-updates and flash with odin.

Flash stock unrooted ROM? Using Odin
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
still no ROM or ZIP that I can find.
Did you look? Maybe 5 threads below this is a cwm flashable, and there are Odin files floating around. Use the search feature man.

Ok so I just bought a s3 on craigslist for 250 that was only used for a week or so. The phone is perfect in All aspects. The morning after I bought it I got an ota for JB. So I went ahead and installed. Now a couple of days later im Trying to root. I can get into download mode and connect to odin install the cwm tar and all goes good odin does its thing and says its has passed. Next I go to get into cwm recovery and it takes me to stock android recovery and wont let me install super user. Ive tried several other tar files hoping they we just bad downloads. My flash counter is at 7 now. Ive looked everywhere I can think of for a fix and find a lot of other things that point in a certain dirrection but I am unsure of which way to go. Any help would be great.

my solution was just to bite the bullet, and odin a full image that was already rooted. Takes a while, but solved my issues.
Uncheck auto reboot in Odin before you flash the tar file, once it's done, unplug your device, and boot straight into cwm recovery, volume up home and power, flash su, reboot, done.

I also tryed the other sugstion and no luck

I would recommend root66 if you just want stock with root injected, with no counter trips. From there you can CWM and play. Enjoy!

WTF $250? That seller was nuts.

Yup. He was a apple fan. Decided to try android. Didnt like it cut his lisses and went back to it. His loss my gain.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
If you just odin the cwm tar I dont think it will include the su files. You will need to flash a zip containing the binaries
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Use the root66 img

Did you know there is a dedicated forum for your device? It has many guides as well as a Q & A section too.

Put twrp back on and flash either stock rooted rom or the rom of your choice. Options for roms, including stock rooted, can be easily found in the android development section of the at&t gs3

Ok so it's been a long while since ive been on here for the fact that I havent been rooted. But now that I have the 4.3 update I'm ready to reroot and I notice that alot of things have changed with this update. So my 1st question is can I still root using cwm as b4 with the 4.2 update? I havent seen or can find any info on installing or rooting 4.3 with cwm. Sorry if this is dumb but I did look and also seen im going to have to do more research if this is possible
[EDIT] also I didnt receive my update via ota. I went to radioshack and they updated it for me. Not sure if that matters but there it is

Head over to this thread by @goku2778, it has everything you need. And as a plus, you will be using Philz Touch recovery, which is phenomenal, it's based on CWM, but that is where the similarities end, it is more like CWM on steroids.
