The last it happened it turned out to be issue with the Market itself, but now no one is taking about it and I have not been able to get any updates or download anything from the Market for days.
I've tried every suggestion I came across to no avail; clearing cache, data in any app that seems to have anything to do with downloading from the Market, logging in/out/in to GTalk, downgrading the Market app to stock. Nothing works, and it all started happening out of the blue; no problem one day, and the next day the Market doesn't work no matter what.
I don't remember making any changes to the phone, it's been setup a while ago and running to my satisfaction, except for one thing; some days before the Market stopped working I started noticing that my battery wasn't holding up as well as it used to, but I don't know it this has anything to do with the matter at hand. I'm on a rooted 2.2.1 (mistakenly) released by US TMo with a Go Launcher EX.
So, is it me and my phone, or something outside of my doing. I would hate to do a factory reset, so would anyone have a better plan of action.
Thanks

Thanks, but no change.
I don't know how to say in English. In Chinese, in the settings that have a setting call 資料節省模式.If you tick it, you can't download anything in market.

I find the English name now.
It call data saver in the data manager.

In the American ROM there are three settings in the Data Manager under Data Delivery; Background Data, Data Roaming, and Data Enabled. I guess the closest would be the last one and it pertains to having data enabled over mobile network. All but the roaming were enabled.
@scrannel: It was happening in both, mobile and WiFi.
Thanks guys, frustrated, I ended up doing a factory reset and restore after all. Now my battery use is back to normal (i.e. excellent) too.
Drat, things (software settings) are fragile; falling apart under normal use.
I am experiencing the same problem. Tried a lot of methods like clearing cache and all but nothing worked.
Everytime I start a download it says 'downloading' for a few seconds and then says 'download paused' and remains there.
This issue is on wifi only, and happened out of the blue yesterday. On my 3g data connection the apps download just fine.
What can I do?
I am having the same problem with downloads from the market, but only on 3g. Everything is fine on WiFi. 99/100 times, an App will take forever to download on 3g, pausing 5-10x during the process. This has been going on since Friday I believe. I have switch roms, complete data wipe, formatted my memory card, deleted .android-secure on teh SD card, nothing helps.
I don't know if its the 3g network or what, but it's really starting to aggravate me
Settings -> Data manager -> Data Saver -> untick "Enable Data Saver" should do the trick
Data Saver off wouldn't help those of us who got "WiFi-exclusive" Market stucks.
Worse yet, sometimes at certain WiFi networks (for example those they give at Starbucks) it works just fine, stuff downloads in huge chunk (from waiting list). Then on other WiFi it wouldn't work.
I even tried it at home WiFi spot with all firewall offline, and still no cigars - "paused".
My market suddenly started working again, but now after a few days it says 'downloads paused' again..
What is happening!

i had the same problem with my stock 2.2.1 defy (but in my case the market got stuck on the old version and wouldnt even update itself). the only thing that helped was doing a factory reset from recovery, and now everything works fine. but afaik there's an app backup option (only in 2.2), so if you do a factory reset you can have most of your apps installed in a minute from backup. good luck!
downloading
Even i am having the same problem when ever it paused like that i will open android market and it will download automatically again try to do like that.

im still on android 2.1 no update yet
i have same problem since i downgrade from CM7 to Official froyo any solution ?
So, yesterday morning my phone stopped being able to call and text. At first I thought it was just because I get awful reception at my parent's house. I was still able to pull data down from Wi-Fi and 3G.
However, after a couple hours of driving this morning the mobile data went out as well. Now I can't get anything over the mobile network. Wi-fi still works though.
I have tried (in order):
1) Clearing the cache in the Telephony Settings app
2) Clearing cache in recovery
3) Factory reset and re-flashing the ROM I was on
4) Unrooting and going back to stock RUU
5) Re-rooting and restoring to a Nandroid backup from last month.
6) Unrooting again and going back to stock RUU so I could take it into the Verizon store.
Absolutely nothing worked. I was never able to make a call, text, or connect to mobile network. Even the *228 doesn't work.
The guy at the store said all the settings looked fine and if I already did a factory reset there's nothing else to do.
Anyone have any ideas?
i don't know what the problem is....but i know the phone is not bricked.....if the phone was bricked you wouldn't be able to do anything, you couldn't even turn it on.....it would act like a brick......
im sure someone here will be able to help though.
Bricked is probably the wrong word. At least the wi-fi still works.
I activated my old LG EnV and I'm trying desperately to find another smartphone to activate on my account in the next 14 days so I don't lose my unlimited data plan.

Try flashing the newest Gingerbread RUU to update the rom and radio to see if it fixes your issue. If not maybe the phone did finally give out....If you do wish to stay with the Incredible I recently picked one up on Craigslist for $100 brand new. So they are still selling out there for relatively cheap.

I recently switched from my Incredible to an iPhone, so I have one to sell. PM me and make an offer.
I have an Evo 3G roted with a ton of apps. Can I take my Titanuium backup from that phone and restore selective apps and data to my G3.
I have a couple apps that I no longer have the credentials for to re download from the app store without paying for them again.

You should be able to do that. You will need to be rooted on the GS3 in order to restore. I was able to restore some apps from my Evo 4G to the GS3 using Titanium. Not sure if all apps can be restored or not. I would not try to restore any system setting or data. That could be a problem.
If you're rooted, use titanium and it should work. Just restore the apps & app data, and not system data. Also, don't. Restore them as a batch operation, do just 2 or 3 at a time, and test them, then continue.

I can vouch and say that it does work. I moved from the HTC Evo 4G OG and used Titanium Backup to bring all of my old apps and data to my new phone. You will have to have BOTH devices rooted in order to use the backup as well as the SD card or the information.
Yes, I went from an Epic 4G to an S3 using MyBackup Pro. Restored all the app data. As long as you don't try to restore the basic system data you should be fine.
Great, that is what I was hoping for
I also went from an Evo 3D to the SGS3. Just make sure that you don't restore data that was specific for the Evo. For instance, if you have setcpu, don't restore the data because that was specifically for the E3D. Otherwise, you won't have any problems.

First of all this is my first time posting here on xda but have read a lot of things on this website, and i apologize if i have placed this in the wrong area.
I have seen other threads about this issue but none seem to be quite like mine.
So i had cyanogenmod on my galaxy s 3 att/rogers, I had it on my phone for a long time pretty much the entire year i have had the phone, when randomly last night my service just stopped. I cant make phone calls, text, or use data. But my wifi still works. so basically my phone turned into a tablet.
Things I have tried to fix this:
1: restored using nanndroid backup (no effect)
2: flash a different rom "PAC Rom" with its kernel (no effect)
3: Restored phone to complete factory defaults using odin (no effect)
4: Tried different SIM card in my phone to see if it would work (no effect)
5: Tried my SIM in different phones (worked)
6: Restored phone to factory default using samsung kies (no effect)
So can you see my delema? No matter what i try the service just will not activate and only says "rogers emergency calls only". this phone is only around a year old.. This isn't a common thing to happen is it?
Anyways I would be very, very happy if anyone could help me fix this problem. I apologize if i get back to you slow as i have to go to work in a couple minutes, my boss is probably going to be pissed I have no phone. :crying:
Nothing? Nothing at all?
I had similar issue I just solved. I had only lost data however. I would suggest maybe checking your apn settings. It maybe flash a modem. I was able to make calls/texts no problem but no data at all. I Google the apn settings and now everything works great

Did you check if your IMEI is still intact?
Your issue sounds very similar to those who have lost their IMEI.

Apn settings were all right. Not sure what has happened.. rogers told me the phone was toast but I have a hard time beleiving that from someone who looks at my phone for 30 seconds and says that. Either way I'm picking my note 3 up friday. Not through rogers, since they were a royal pain in my wallet. Bell ftw
Not really sure if I should mark this as solved due to the fact its not?
Did anybody come across the issue when restoring from another phone, (one plus in my case) that the existing wifi networks, bluetooth devices and the system settings did NOT restore in any way whatsoever?
It seems like the google backup did not even do anything.
Factory reset a few times, trying it without smart switch and it didnt even prompt me to restore.
