I just wanted to confirm that all Galaxy Note II sold by T-Mobile in the United States are Made In China. Am I correct?
I don't know for sure but I have purchased 3x note 2 and they are all made in China... Even the battery is assembled in China! I know china has cheap labor fees but I wish it was made in Korea (cause I'm Korean! Lol). All my international Samsung phones were made in Korea I don't know why US version isn't ;(

No! There are a few t889 that are made in korea!

Thanks for your feedback. I bought a Titanium Grey from a T-Mobile store in New York City, and it is made in China. I'm sure it doesn't matter, but there is a thread here somewhere where they said the models coming from Korea were a bit better in finishing and free of defects.
Mine functions well........but I just had to confirm (that thing on the back of my mind). Definately the best phone I have ever owned.

What!!!!! Where are they being sold? I have been to about a dozen T-Mobile store in NY/NJ and all are made in China.
Mine is T889v and it is made in Korea..

yup my T889v is made in korea, don't know if that matters, but yay to wind/mobilicity/videotron anyways
Just remember if yours was manufactured in china then odds are you've already inhaled enough noxious fumes to cause permanent brain damage
As long as no one has reported any defects or quality issues with the china made ones, who cares?

Just exchanged mine...faulty power button and S-Pen. The new one is much better. There are defective units out there, for certain.

What I am wondering is, I would like to go to Verizon to get the 4g lte and enjoy my nez to the full potential, although I think that development isn't moving along a due to lack of support or lack of gsm. If I buy a gnez for Verizon will I bee missing out on movement?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Gnex.
And lack of development?
I've seen more CDMA (Verizon) only roms than visa-versa.
And there are only a couple.
You're not going to miss anything.
Great new guys go to wirefly to get your gnez
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Did you guys ever visit elect-band.com to buy a Gnez?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
its GNex not Gnez... but I prefer calling it GN.
I have the Google Nexus GSM and I'm very happy with it. Please remember that the Nexus family is a Developers family (although any user could work with it) applying custom ROMS is very easy and can be done in a lot of ways since the phone was made to be tempered with.
The community for custom ROMS and android development is very active for the phone you are about to admire and cherish.
some note for you:
Install an app that disables the 4g when the phone sits in your pocket... some people around here noticed the batery drains very fast when you leave 4g on in your pocket!
but to be honest. I life in the Netherlands and we haven't got 4G over here... even 3G loads websites, music and movies amazingly fast. as for browsing you could use Chrome which is released for android 4.0 users.
Hop on and enjoy the ride with nexus!
Would you trust the website I mentioned to buy a almost new gnez for almost 215 dollars or does if come off like a rip off?

Huh? Wirefly has it for $79.99 if you're starting a new contract. Any other place buying it used, that's up to you to decide.
And for Christ's sake its a Galaxy Nexus, not a Galaxy Nezus.
I'm trying to go month to month so I can end service and reactivate when necessary, any body got a good shot to shoot at this?

Well buy it used anywhere you want and make sure the ESN is clean. Then just go activate it with Verizon month to month.
Don't go to elec-band.com, they are rip-off artists

Hey look I was just looking over the ROM lists for the gsm and lte versions, and it seems the lte version had less roms, is that because of the Verizon network?

I'll have to disagree here. I believe the difference comes down to market penetration.
GSM = World phone (anyone worldwide)
LTE = Verizon customers only.
The more phones out there, the more developers will work with that phone.

Just checked and yes... sorry.
Then my guess would be that you guys in US have 4g networks together with switserland and just a handfull of other countries. So the only roms floating around would come from these places.
I could buy an lte device in the Netherlands using ebay or so but there would be no way to go beyond 3g around here for me. And going to switserland to check my mail lightning fast would mean that i had to drive there and pay €5,- (± $7,-) for every downloaded/uploaded MB...

I plan on buying a used s3 from someone off of craigslist. I will make the purchase at an at&t store and do an imei check firsthand. My question is how do i go about protecting myself from that person going home and making an insurance claim saying the phone is stolen, therefore blocking the imei? Thank you!

I've bought a One X, 4S, and a Infuse from craigslist...each time I've made sure the seller met me at at&t. I even brought it up to the rep that I want it noted because of the blacklisting and each time they agreed to note it. Not a single problem with my devices in months.

Just a heads up people, not quite Note 2 related, but big news, don't agree with it myself, s4 would of been five, why copy iPhone with a number because it sounds outdated.
Even if this does happen, note 3 will still be called note 3.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
No there is nothing like this at least known to us as of now.
Confim your source.
There is a myth because there is no i9400 directly i9500.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Wont be able to prove it, but I'm sure it will be mentioned soon enough, the whole reason for this is to match iPhone with the number 5, which is pointless, what if iPhone new iPhone is called the 6, s4 should stay as it is. I hope I'm wrong about this.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
This is absurd. Doing something like this would only show that Samsung is weak against Apple. It would be very stupid of them to name a flagship from S3 to S5.
Sent from the rabbit hole.
I heard rumors on the internet without any source of information are always true. It's a fact.
-----
I would love to help you, but help yourself first: ask a better question
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
I've heard this rumour before and there is some, while not conclusive, evidence to support that there is more to this than simply copying Apple.
In many parts of Asia (China, Japan, Korea) the number 4 is considered to be unlucky. It is known as Tetraphobia or the fear of the number four. It has to do with the way it is pronounced resembling the pronunciation of the word death.
In Korea they go to some lengths to avoid using 4 in places such as Hospitals (You won't find a fourth floor in many/any hospitals for example) and Apartment buildings and on transportation such as Aircraft and Railways (especially train carriages).
So, given all the success Samsung are currently having I think they may well want to avoid naming a device the S Death
Haha they might as well name it s death cuz thats what will happen anyways, sudden death

I think the roman numerals for 5(V) look better than the 4 anyway (IV) I also think (me personally) that the new Samsung phone well have a more solid feel to it, instead of cheap plastic touch, then this will be the same for the note 3,
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
So I'm thinking of buying a Used GS3 or Nexus 4. Since the GS3 has expandable memory that's what I'm leaning towards.
Anyway, what kind of things should I ask/look for when getting a used GS3 other than scratches and cracks?
The best and safest thing you can do is meet the seller at a Tmobile retail store. Have an employee check the status of the phone. They can even make a note that the phone has been sold and the original owner cannot report it stolen or lost.

The biggest thing you need to look out for is the screen is in good condition, IMEI isn't blacklisted, and obviously that the phone isn't hard bricked.

Any common problems with the phone? (For example, the Nexus 7 screen lift.)
I've never encountered any issues with my S3 and I use it constantly. I'd just make sure the phone isn't stolen or blacklisted. Back in the day I bought a phone off of eBay, went to activate it, turns out it was stolen...

No, nothing I can think of and I've had mine since December now, almost 6 months. I also do have Nexus 7, but I don't think I even have a screen lift problem with it.

I bought and returned 3 Nexus 7s early on because of problems like the screen lift so it's why I ask.
I also saw that some Nexus 4s had some back glass lift problems and the HTC One has some separation/cracking issues.
I don't think I've read anything about the Samsung phones though other than the plasticky feel.
Well, its been a fun ride here with all of you. But its time to kick it up a step and get the S4.

That's how I got my Galaxy Note 2 today. I only had my Galaxy S3 for 13 months but I still got the Note 2 for free. The catch was I had to increase my plan by $26 for 24 months. I also enrolled in the jump program. So I ended up spending around $60 today and I kept my GS3. They offered me $190 for it.

Honestly, T-Mobile always sells phones a bit more expensive then they actually retail for.
If I had seriously wanted the S4 I'd root my S3 that's in flawless condition with a Balistick SG Maxx case, have it prerooted stock 4.1.2 and sell it for 350$. Then go on eBay turn around and buy the international unlocked version of the S4 for like 250$ more. It's more expensive out right, but much cheaper in the long run.
Been on my mother's T-Mobile phone line since I was a kid and had a Motorola RAZR v3. So more than 12 years for sure when she started using T-Mobile. Somewhere in 1999 I fink.
