Mobile Odin Pro on N7105 - Cannot Detect Device Error - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
My "search" has led me to using ChainFire's recent CF-Auto-Root approach to ensure stock recovery, and purchasing Mobile Odin Pro 3.5.
I saw that SGN2 LTE or GT-N7105 is supported, but after installing, I tried running it several times w/o success. Each time, it ends up with 'Cannot Detect Device' error.
Can anyone advise?
Background: I was using CWM with rooting. I'm assuming that with the CF-Auto-Root approach, there is no issue.
Thanks.

Un-and reinstall the app and reboot, then try again. It should support the N7105.

So far unsuccessful

Looks ok now
Just an update.
I did TA just in case, then re-flashed the stock firmware, applied CF-Auto-Root, and now Mobile Odin Pro has installed itself. All within 5min.
I will look again at trying Pimp My Rom via Mobile Odin Pro. This is to optimise the phone thru the kernel n hardware.
ALso, to explore other things, before (ever) a successful custom rom is out.
Thanks anyway.

Issue with running Pimp My Rom based on Mobile Odin Pro
Just an update:
PMP is actually interactive requiring many user selections. When I tried to run it from Mobile Odin Pro, the phone screen display was flickering rapidly making it difficult to carry out selections.
Phone is working.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Another update:
I went thru the process of flashing CWM which then allows for PMR as per (its) normal. Then re-did CF-Auto-Root and TriangleAway .. just to make sure.
Phone is fine. I presume I hv stock recovery (mode), as well as having done PMR to tweak the system (aka kernel/hardware).
Question/Remark: maybe more commonly - Mobile Odin Pro would still run with custom recovery, and do the things that it should do.
Comments are welcome to share views or educate me. Thanks

[Q] Note 2 help with rooting

Hello XDA,
I am trying to root my new GT-N7100. I have had previous experience with Galaxy S3 and custom roms but with windows. I am trying to root my Note 2 with a mac book pro (heimdall method). I have followed every step carefully and dont seem to go anywhere. I followed steps from this link:
galaxynote2.com
The problem :
After I follow the last step (8 - Pressing UP+HOME+POWER), All I get is the Note 2 splash screen flashing as if there is a graphical glitch. The entire stuff just glitches up and down for a few times like a old TV and eventually the phone goes off, but the haptic feedback is active when I touch the keys besides home button so i am guessing the CWM recovery is working but just that there is nothing to see. Not sure what to do, any help is gladly appreciated.
Oh and another problem is that I get horrible static during any VOIP calls like Skype or Viber. Does anyone know whats the problem?
TIA,
findanish
Use windows only if you are new to android. Try using a friend's, neighbor's, cyber cafe computer. Heimdall needs experience. Or use virtual machine to install Windows trial like windows 8 enterprise evaluation

You're overcomplicating things. You don't need a Mac or a Windows machine, or ODIN or Heimdall to root your Note II. You don't even need a PC at all. All you need is Exynos Abuse.
Just make sure your handset is in good, working order, (i.e. - No bugs or goofy crap leftover from the failed rooting attempts.) and root using the Exynos Abuse *.apk from Chainfire. Just enable "Unknown Sources" in Settings > Security, and install the *.apk. Once it's installed, open it up and just click to root. It's that easy. All the relevant information, as well as the *.apk, is in the thread linked below.

Let me know if this helped. Take care and have a good one!

Thanks for the help guys!
After I rooted the device using ExynosAbuse.apk, it did say the device was rooted but when I go back to recovery to install a custom rom the same issue occurs where the entire screen goes bonkers. I have to shut the device down completely and restart it to get it back to normal state.
On a different note, when i head over to ODIN mode by pressing down+home+power, custom binary download : Yes (3 counts)
Not sure where to head.
Would a video of the problem help?
TIA

It looks like you may need to ODIN-flash back to stock. If you can get on a Windows machine, flash back to stock and then reroot. Once you do that, you can install your preferred custom recovery using MobileODIN. That should take care of you.

That's assuming his recovery is the only thing ****ed up. MobileODIN is great; but it is entirely dependant on a fully functional device. If your device is having issues, using MobileODIN is just an unnecessary risk.

I am back with a bad news unfortunately. After I unrooted and wiped the entire phone to default Official Samsung rom using a windows 7 system (ODIN method). It successfully passed and I even got the stock recovery. But after i rooted it using ODIN with the latest CWM recovery, the same issue occurred. I am really disappointed with the way this phones acting, any help is greatly appreciated!

What official rom ur on? What version of odin ur using? Can u try root via exynos abuse apk rather than odin? Is unknown sources and usb debugging selected? Can u flash philz touch 3.81 cwm? Try doing the recovery flash via mobile odin.

I have to press and hold the power button a couple of times for the phone to restart.

Downgrade Direct from the Note 2 No pc Needed 4.3 -> 4.1.2

FACTS:
I Just dowgraded my 4.3 ota to 4.1.2 In 2 minutes literally. NO PC NEEDED! NO ISSUES!
The prerequisites :
Note 2 50% charged "Not necessary though"
Mobile odin pro app .
4.1.2 tar file by teshxx
It's not noted anywhere else of this being done but I just did it successfuly.
How to:
Mobil odin pro is same as odin on a pc but it's all done right from the t889
Which is supported by mobile Odin pro.
Buy$ or get mobile odin pro app.
Select the 4.1.2 tar and flash it you can Inject mobile odin and su into the flash prior to flashing the tar
Look for the options in mobile Odin
Essentially You will skip all the steps of using the PC odin method that has errors ans more steps.
No need to get Odin errors or bootloops No need to cf auto root.
This method seems to be problematic free.
Reboot phone and 4.1.2 will be in settings.
Along with superuser installed on 4.1.2.
KNOX does remain in download mode but has no affect or presence within the daily operating system or its functionality.
No superuser force close nothing.

Not trying to be picky, but mobile odin doesn't touch the bootloader at all. PC odin does. That is the reason the mobile odin process doesn't hangup like the pc versions do. A significant portion of the odin flash is not happening. If you boot into download mode you will see the knox counter staring back at you.
Having said that, I am glad you are happy with the results. It is good that you have options.

My point was that its a easy and available method to get back to 4.1.2

I guess my point was that Mobile Odin is not a *perfect* substitute for PC odin. If a person were to attempt to flash 4.3 odin files they would not get the bootloader updated and might have problems with WiFi and other issues as a result. It is a great piece of coding and very imaginative. It also has limitations.
My post is more for others in the audience who need to know this specific limitation. Personally I would be less than impressed if I'd spent $6 only to find that the app didn't do what I'd been lead to believe.
There was a guy over on Dr Ketan's patch thread who used mobile odin to try to flash the bootloader patch several times and just couldn't get it to work.
He thought that Mobile Odin = PC odin. It simply doesn't.
Enjoy your SIII LTE. It should be an awesome device for you. Happy New Year.

i Just want to add that im the second person that was able to get back to 4.1.2 with no errors or problems. infacted i didnt use mobile odin i simple downloaded the zip of 4.1.2 rom that was stock rooted and flashed it through TWRP OR Custom recovery. You must have custom recovery installed. any way 4.3 looks nice i like it but it has too much issues wifi crash and tethering not working 100%.
Thanks for the info. However, why are you going back to 4.1.2? What did you not like about 4.3? I stayed at 4.1.2 as I did not find many reasons to update. Thanks for you info.

Hello. I have found no issue whatsoever. I suppose that is why the Android Odin is paid while the Windows one is free. It does the job more easily with no fuss. I only want to point out that you need to get the right version to downgrade to. If you don't you may experience problems eg you might not be able to connect to the GSM network in your area or country. That has nothing to do with Mobile Odin though.
Yes, mobile Odin is indeed a very good application. The reason this works using Mobile Odin is that it does not flash the bootloader.
If you pack a tar.md5 file excluding the bootloader then you can downgrade using pc Odin too.

I am not sure if anyone has packed it yet. Did you try flashing any 4.1.2 custom roms ?
Custom roms are usually not packed with a bootloader and you should be able to flash them using any custom recovery.

Odin Fails to flash my device

Hi Everyone, I actually have a SGH-I317m (Rogers Note 2), but thought I would post here since this gets more traffic.
I have been having constant problems with Odin trying to flash files to my Note 2.
Currently using the factory Samsung USB cable, disconnecting any other USB devices connected (BT gamepad) to my computer, and being sure to run Odin as "Administrator" in Windows 7 (64bit).
I've used the recommended Odin 1.85 as well as the latest Odin 3.x, with the newest release being somewhat more reliable.
Basically I've grown too paranoid to try and flash custom roms, and even the root package to my phone in fear of a permanent soft brick. KIES failed to update my phone to stock 4.3, so I then used Odin to flash it. I recently tried to flash a root package, which failed every time, then my stock image, which failed about 14 out of 15 tries. Once the Stock ROM flashed successfully, I breathed a sigh of relief and gave up.
Is there something specific that could be causing Odin to fail so consistantly? My phone is stock 4.3,recovery, unrooted, with locked bootloader and SIM.
I've seen recommendations that a Factory Reset be performed after flashing a new ROM, which I have not done. What is the logic behind this?
I'd be willing to try, but without root (aka without Titanium BackUp) a Wipe is not ideal. That being said, if I put all these flashing issues behind me, I'd happily give it a try.
I am curious to try Mobile Odin as well, which of course requires root.
The fact that both Odin and Kies failed to flash my device is curious. I'd like some suggestions on how to proceed.
I'd be happy not flashing custom ROMs, however I do feel that root access is a requirement for my usage.
Anyone?

uninstall the good for nothing kies software... reboot your pc and install the samsung mobile usb driver.
then connect your device and let windows reinstall the driver....
then try odin again.
Thanks. I ditched Kies once it failed to flash my device, then failed to recover it.
I will try reinstalling the driver. The one I have installed likely came from the "Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit", which hasn't been updated awhile.
I will try and report back.

Ok, I've resolved my issues and will post here for others should they have the same. My issue was caused by usb drivers. Uninstall Kies, and any Samsung drivers you may have installed. Reboot your pc, and install the latest Samsung drivers from here, for your device.

After, plug in your phone, and let Windows install what it needs. Then proceed with Odin as normal.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

rooting pro 8.4

Hi,
Im having real trouble trying to root my galaxy tab pro 8.4. I just cant get odin to see the tablet or my friends note 3. I have done everything the tutorials say. but not. It doesnt go blue so i cant flash.
I have rooted before but went back to normal rom from sammobile. I would like to root again but just get odin to work. Can anyone help or is there another way to do it.
Thanks
Try another cord? Another computer? Do you have drivers installed? Does your computer recognize your tablet - can you see what is on your internal/external drives?
Tried another cord and computer but yes the pc can see the what's on it etc

What version of Odin are you using? Try re-downloading Odin? Are you running Odin as administrator (right click on Odin icon and select run as administrator)
Tried them all and nothing. Just won't see my galaxy pro tab or note 3.yes right admit.

Did you install Kies 3?
However, you have to close Kies before running Odin.
I have installed kids, and un installed it as I read they conflict

They don't conflict. I rooted my Tab Pro 8.4 with Odin 3.09 while having Kies 3 installed. Maybe when you uninstalled Kies it uninstalled the drivers, too?
I'd reinstall Kies and then reboot. Then try again with Odin.
Cheers, tried all that sees nothing. When the tab is on in odin it shows as com 5 as soon as I put it in recovery mode, nothing. Very odd. Really want to put a custom rom on as I hate touch wiz

Just wanted to throw my hat into the ring here - I'm having the exact same problem with a Tab 10.1.
I've tried everything the OP mentions with no success. It just simply seems that Odin (3.7, 3.9. 3.10) is incapable of seeing the tablet on ADB, even though it sees it instantly in normal boot.

It's download (Odin) mode.

re-root SM-T900 after reflashing to stock with Kies

Long story short, I managed to loose root on my SM-T900 after removing superSU without replacing it with another SU product. So I tried flashing CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5 to get root back, and it soft bricked my tablet. So I decided to reimage it using Kies after entering my model number which worked but now I was back at a vanilla, unrooted tablet.
I have been trying to reroot ever since using every method I could find in about 20 different forums and nothing works. Here are the methods I have tried so far.
1. Flash CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5 via odin after enabling debug mode. runs for a long time and fails and soft bricks.
2. Flash P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg.tar via odin and then CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5 via odin. Screen becomes completely garbled and odin eventually says "failed"
3. I tried using
I have tried several different versions of CFAuto Root including CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 and CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5 all with similar results listed above although others have said they managed to get root it has yet to work for me.
I do have a TWRP backup which I ultimately want to restore but I don't think a TWRP backup can be restored unless the device has root first so that TWRP can be installed.
Is there some other root app that would work?
I've been at this for two days and I just can't seem to find the correct combination of SM-T900 wifi ROM and Chain fire autoroot that work together.

Had the same issue. Easy fix. Use the CF AUTO ROOT file for the SM-P900 (Note pro 12.2 version) it works on the NK1 build for the tab pro 12.2
Re-installing TWRP was a p a in too. In the TWRP thread in this forum there is a beta version linked on the last or second to last page for 2.8.6 for the tab pro 12.2. If you flash it using Flashify it will work.
Just went through this same process myself.

Ok. Just so I am understanding you correctly, this is what I should do.
Flash T900UEUANK1_T900XARANK1_XAR.zip via odin.
boot up and enable debug mode.
boot into download mode and install CF-Auto-Root-v1awifi-v1awifixx-smp900.tar.md5 via odin and I should have root.
Install twrp-2.8.6.0-v2wifixx.img via Flashify and then I should be able to boot into recovery and restore my TWRP image backup.

Just FINALLY (and VERY PAINFULLY, BTW) got root on my Tab Pro 12.2 SMT-900 with NK1 build using CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5. If I Flashify the beta TWRP 2.8.6.0 you mention above using Flashify's "Recovery Image" Button and navigating to the TWRP 2.8.6.0 image file -- is that all I need to do? Does it "stick" and can I then make a Nandroid Backup -- that it will find if/when I need to recovery it? (I've read lots of posts saying the backup files disappear, etc)
I have not had any issues with backups so far. It is the only recovery I have been able to get to stick on the NK1 build. Have not tried to do a recovery though. I'm running CM 12 now because it is way more stable than the stock TW ROM.
If I navigate to the TWRP backup folder my backup of the stock TW ROM is there and intact.

THANK YOU, ShrekOpher . . .
Has anyone had bad experiences with running the Recovery using TWRP 2.8.6.0? -- You might say I'm a little "gun shy" right now with trying to install TWRP and want to be sure I don't lose any more brain cells . . .

Thank you! I recently purchased a gtp12.2 with the intent of immediately rooting it. Just like OP, I tried several times to root without any success (two softbricks, though). I would never have thought to use the SM-P900 cfAutoRoot.
