[Q] Wrong boot.img can't connect to computer - HTC One X

So here's the full story.
I wanted to try a new kernel and a new ROM. I was running AOKP so I used the utility for kernel repacks to repack ncx for AOKP. I followed the instructions (wipe cache, flash kernel, install modules) but then I couldn't connect to my computer via USB. So I decided it'd be a good time to try a new ROM and I thought I'd be able to flash the boot.img for that ROM so I went back to recovery and flashed the ROM, but when I went to bootloader to try and flash the boot.img (with OneX one click) my phone did not appear to be connected. I rebooted the phone and to my surprise it booted just fine, even though it has the wrong kernel. Problem is I still can't connect via USB to flash a proper kernel.
Rebooted PC and it's working now

[Solved]Cant install rd miui rom

Hi,
I have been on CoreDroid and I am trying to install the RD-Miui Rom, I have extracted the boot.img flashed it via fastboot and installed the rom, but all I get is the boot screen, the one thing that happens when I flash the boot.img is the phone reboots immediately after(not sure this should happen) I've also tryed using the boot.img flasher provided by the developer but I still get stuck on the boot screen. Can anyone help?
I simply reformatted the system and it worked

Having issues maybe recovery related

Yesterday unlocked via HTC dev. The through fast boot flashed twrp. That didn't work so well I couldn't actually flash any ROMs I could make a backup and I could restore. OK so I flashed cwm through Fast boot success however I flashed 2 ROMs one experia all seemed to work but WiFi was of no use I don't pay for service so that was obviously a no go. I flashed the ROM 3 times even re downloading it again. Ok so on to aokp flashed via cwm flashed jb gapps flashed boot.IMG via fast boot. Would boot up to start up then FC and reboot and boot loop at the aokp screen. Repeated numerous times getting various results.
Now I relocked boot loader and ran the ruu.exe and had to leave in the process it looked like it was booting hopefully when I come home it will be back to stock. Far from a dev so I am confused. I just want to try out some roms? Could this but a kernel issue? Recovery or something else?

first more info will get u more accurate advice ie.... build date of aokp.... last nightly is messed up use stable for best results. also the method of which u applyed these roms would be nice htc s-on is a pain so it requires a little diffrent prosses thin on other phones and diffrent strokes for diffrent roms
for wifi u have to reflash boot.img....
for FC and bootloops factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache....
download latest nightly and follow this------>
1. download rom and gapps, transfer them to root of SD card
2. extract boot.img(the kernel) from ROM zip,or whichever is compatible and place it in fastboot folder
3. go into bootloader, FIRST flash the boot.img in fastboot.
4. go into recovery, then FULL WIPE-factory reset, erase cache and dalvik cache.
5. then flash the ROM.
6. boot into the rom.then again enter into recovery and then flash gapps.
do the above steps in the same order all over again....it should work...:fingers-crossed:
If I am not mistaking I used the latest stable build of aokp, and I flashed both roms through recovery using both CWM and TWRP and also flashed kernel using fastboot. Although I reflashed TWRP and flashed AOKP and all seems to be right in the world. right now in at the set up screen so far no freeze or boot loop and wifi is working. Consider this problem solved
And yeah S-on sucks!

booted without flashing boot.img

even though my phone is s-on, i flashed liquid smooth rom via twrp, forgot to flash boot.img via fastboot command, and rebooted the system, but the phone booted, and kernel was flashed, how is that possible?
Because this isn't the One X, it doesn't need flashing separately, TWRP can do it, so it did.

[Q] How should I go about unbricking my friends phone?

Hello, my friend has a Ace 2 (GT-I8160) and he wanted me to try and install CM 11 on his phone. I managed to root it and install temporary CWM on it, however his version of CWM could not flash CM 11 ROM's because it was outdated. I Googled around and found a TWRP .img file that I decided to flash via ODIN (CWM couldn't flash any TWRP .zip files for some reason). Everything went perfectly fine with ODIN, however my friends phone could not go pass the Samsung logo, it would appear for a few seconds and then the screen would go black. He also couldn't go into recovery but he could go into Download mode. Thinking that it was a recovery problem, I managed to get a .img file of TWRP 2.8.6.0 by Chronomonochrome and flash that via ODIN. Still the same problem - phone won't go pass the logo, however it can go into recovery.
So, now the phone boots perfectly to Download mode and recovery - and it can do everything from the recovery, like making backups, wiping, etc, but it cannot boot to the OS itself. I still haven't flashed a custom ROM on his phone because he didn't have the ROM file on his phone at the time nor could be transfer it to his phone via his PC because of some driver issue.
I'm currently downloading I8160XXBN1 firmware from Samsung Updates to flash via ODIN and try to get his phone back into working state. However, I also planned on placing my SD Card (which has the CM rom and Gapps on it) into his phone and flashing a new, custom ROM instead of flashing the firmware.
Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Should I flash official firmware via ODIN or just flash the ROM using the recovery?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] hard brick problem please help me

I am using Xperia zl c6502
i tried to root my phone
and i did root it but it was not proper but i got root permissions with supersu and rooted with .230 stock firmware
so i already have a flash tool in my pc and all the drivers
and had recovery
i was not happy and found a new rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zl/development/rom-ultimate-dualxzl-ultra-v1-t2989281
every thing goes well till the end and i rooted via recovery mode
it was written that
FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS
1. Copy The AROMA ROM v1 Zip To Ur Phone
2. Backup Ur Datas If U Need It
3. Switch Off and Reboot To Recovery
4. Wipe Data Factory Reset ( Recommended )
5. Flash AROMA ROM
6. Simply (Carefully ) Read All Options In Aroma Then Proceed
7. After Installation Do Not Choose Reboot option In Aroma. Un Check it . Click Finish AROMA and Then
8. Flash Any 292 Based Custom Kernel Zip Or Flash .292 based kernel
9. Reboot 3 or 4 Times To Get A Stable Performance
so i flash .292 based kernel via recovery mode which i downloaded before starting to install everything
in the end it installed well and i rebooted my phone to system
but
screen remained black, no recovery now, pc dont recognise phone on connection
i did hard reset from the back button manually
and try to connect to flash tool to flash new rom
in flash tool on pc
after few tries
first my phone was disconnected
then it did.nt recognise my phone and asked which was my phone i tapped xperia zl
then it shows device connected when i check device status via fastboot mode
it shows adb connected with usb debugging
but no recovery, no displayon phone and no root
at the moment
i have these problems
sometimes flashtool can detect my phone in adb mode with usb debug and some times it get connected in fastboot mode
but i was not able to flash my previous rom via that flash tool
neither i was able to go in recovery nor able to boot my phone
it just a black screen
and after hard reset it shows orange light when i plug it in for charging but screen is black
what should i do please help.
If can connect via flashtool... then try flashing a stock kernel... and see if it boots... bt the best thing in my opinion is to download a stock firmware and flash that via flashtool...
thanks
as i was trying to connect via flashtool now on win xp my phone was detected by system and i installed flashtool in win xp and drivers. then i was able to flash the stock rom by flashtool.
now my phone booted again am happy..
but my phone was not on the stock rom as it was before
it appears it rooted on the aroma i think but am confused what to do next
should i reinstall the aroma again fresh via recovery?
Try to flash a different rom this time and check whether its working or not... if it does then mayb redownload your previous rom again n try that... again...
