As many of us use this amazing app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en
Now it allows you to make an Update.zip with apps and Data!!! Only on the pro version.
I am so glad I support them as this a feature I have been waiting for since day 1.
I mean think about it you flash a new Rom boot up so its all nicely installed then boot back to CWM and install all your apps in 1 nice step. Done all up to date. I would even recommend before flashing make a new update.zip file so after flashing use that.
Here is a review on this:
http://liliputing.com/2012/11/titan...hable-zip-with-all-of-your-apps.html#comments
All I have to say is it is a nice feature and wanted to share with everyone. I made an update.zip but have not flashed so have not tested it yet. But I am itching to flash something.

You had the ability for Titanium Backup itself but not for other apps and data. Gave it a try and it failed on install via CWM. Guess your right that it does not work for all devices I wonder why. Now How do I contact these guys and ask for help on this? No phone number no email.
thieirs also another app i found called apps2zip that does wat ur asking for but doesnt work with our recovery also, but funny thing it works on my backflip

Hi all,
I tried out my first 2.0 ROM yesterday and found that it wasnt really to my liking and Nandroided back to MCR 3.0 (too used to the slickness of sense) but now like many other I am missing protected apps from the marketplace.
After much searching I cant seem to find a 100% guaranteed way to fix this (at least for the GSM Hero). Am I right in thinking that to get all apps back I would need to:
Nandroid Backup
Wipe phone
Install a ROM based on a signed final ROM release (ie. Pre 2.8 Modaco)
Load marketplace with my account settings
Search and download a protected app
Wipe Phone
Nandroid Restore
is this right or have I missed something?
I do apologise if this has been covered elsewhere, perhaps my searching skills are to blame.
Michael
Exactly the same Problem here! Any help would be great!
And is there a way to provent this app-blocking in the future?
Greeting, Meatmaker
try this:
make nandroid backup.
wipe everything
install 2.0.1. AOSP(from [email protected] htcpedia)
configure your blocked google acc.
install a protected app(for example twidroid free)
restore your backup
and it works(i hope for you!)

yep this method should work.
its what i did after using a 2.1 rom to get my market back.
cheers for the info incomer... seems like a huuuuge pain but will give it a go when I get chance and update with whether its worked. I presume it should also work with any official signed ROM with release keys (not test) in which case I am tempted to wait for MCR 3.1, seems pointless downloading this just to get my market back.
worked for me. nice and easy

is this the case with any custom 2.0 rom?
also when you say make backup im assuming when I upgrade from 1.5 to 2.0, i make a backup of 2.0 then afterwards wipe and restore the same 2.0 backup?
decided to go for this this morning and can confirm that the advice from incomer works perfectly.
On another note the 'My Downloads' did not list my previously installed apps so I was unable to know if updates were available.
I downloaded and ran aTrackDog and went back into My Downloads and all apps were listed again. Not sure if this is of any use to anyone.
After rooting my sprint evo 4g my market no longer works. I have tried the advice from gat (gadgets and tablets) but that did not work. What do I do???
Need more specifics. "Not working" is very general haha
Does this mean:
1) Won't load
2) Won't download apps
3) Isn't showing up at all
4) Is just force closing like it's its job
It will let me even search for an ap most of the time but will not let me download and will force close every time. This puts a damper on tethering because I cannot download the wireless tether after root ap. I'm still on clockwork mod and rooted via unrevoked
I'm actually downloading another ROM, MikFroYo 4.5, in hopes that flashing another ROM would give the market another chance to work properly. All the people I know that have rooted androids, including one with an evo, have fully working markets and can still download aps. I am not sure of another way to get the wireless tether after root or titanium backup. I have been trying to learn from forums and google but I seem to be coming to a dead end on this topic. It seems to be happening to some other people but nobody has given them a useful answer it seems. The best answer I found was from GAT but they were specifically doing the process on a tablet and after trying this process my market was still a lame duck. Also, while someone is checking on this thread (thanks so much by the way, this is the second time I tried to get some feedback on this forum and the first went by unanswered for about a half a week), what would be a good ROM that would not take away 4g capabilities, let me get an ap back like sprint t.v. but still allow most sprint aps (nascar, blockbuster, nova, etc.) to be deleted (although I think I can do this with titanium backup if I can ever get it downloaded), improve speed and battery life, and not be very glitchy/buggy?

Okay, go to the 2nd post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900584
There's a .zip for the stock android market. Boot into recover (if you don't have rom manager, turn off phone, volume down + power, select recovery) and flash the zip. Should install the working stock market. I used it when I uninstalled updates using Titanium Back-up and it deleted my whole market.
thanks dude i'll check it out.

eww, I had high hopes but it still force closes when I try and download wireless tether. Any other suggestions? In the mean time I'm going to see if using another ROM might help the situation...maybe give it a fresh start or something.
Yeah same story after new ROM...not able to download anything yet anybody else had the same problem and came out on top/would love to hear your solution?
What rom were u running first? Try flashing a stock rooted rom? If that doesn't work try ruu but leave s-off so it's easy to re-root quckly.

clockwork standard untouched from unrevoked and now mikfroyo 4.5...still no luck. I'll try another ROM but I think I have to have a new market or something like that. Is ruu unrooting?
Are you wiping data and cache each time you flash a new ROM? If not, you probably need to.
Are you restoring apps with Titanium Backup after flashing the new ROM? If so, only restore user apps (i.e. don't restore system apps). I've seen some squirrelly things happened when restoring system apps.
Last thing, from your home screen, try going in to Settings...Applications...Manage Applications. Tap on the "All" tab at the top and scroll down to Market and select it. Tap on the "Clear Data" button under Cache.
think i got it under control
You need to reflash gapps if you flashed a new cm rom

This isn't a Q/A as such more of a discussion on a subject im sure alot of us could find helpful - and i'm certainly willing to learn :fingers-crossed:
After flashing a new Rom i guess most of us use Titanium Back-Up to replace our apps on our phones pretty quickly but is there a faster method than the technique i use?
My Way; After flashing a new Rom your phone doesnt realise it has Titanuim Back-Up installed and even if the new Rom comes with a file explorer im guessing it cant detect TB as its backed up somewhere inaccesible......
So usually i;
Sign into my google account,
Goto the play store,
Download TB and the Pro key (bought previously)
Open TB and reinstall all my apps......
Is that the fastest way or is there another shortcut i might have missed?
you can create a flashable zip in titanium but it doesn't always seem to remember your key

I didnt know that! i guess if its a bit tempermental then its best for now to stick with the tried and trusted method.
On the side regarding TB - after flashing CM10 and folllowing proper procedures i usually have a pop up in TB that ive never seen before....
I download TB and the Pro key from the Play Store after flashing and on opening TB the first time it says something like 'your phones ID has been changed and this can impact downloading things from the play store' then it gives me a few options and i usually choose to restore my devices old ID.......
Does this sound familiar to anyone?!! :fingers-crossed:
Hi,
Just joined the forum today and already used Chainfire's CF-Auto root on my Note 8 and so far so good, I have also installed Nandroind manager and nandroid online back up, along with busy box. Titanium Back up was also recommended, and that's as far as I dare go.
So, I suppose, I want to ask, where do i go next, I have no idea where to start or how to go about it. I want to install a ROM but really not sure what to do or which one is best.
How do I back things up and will they be easy to re install after I do so
I want to free up space on my SD card to an external Card too.
I have so many questions and my head is starting to hurt
Cheers
So far you seem to be doing good. You chose one of the easiest methods to Rooting, that's a great start.
Now, I would recommend making a NANDroid Backup. I've never used NANDroid Manager/Online Backup so you would have to actually mess around with it yourself. You can't go wrong if you press an option that says "Backup", so If you see an option to make a NANDroid Backup, DO IT! Once thats done, you would want to put that backup onto your computer or an external HDD.
Now Titanium Backup would be used for apps that you have installed. Example, lets say you have the game Angry Birds on your Note 8.0 and you've gotten really far. You have another Android Tablet or even an Android Phone and want to play Angry Birds on those devices but you want to pick up from where you left off. Thats where Titanium Backup would come in. But thats not the only use of it. If you Flash a ROM onto your Note 8 and you reformat your device, you will lose your progress. Well if you made a backup of your apps via Titanium, you can easily recover them! Even the apk. itself so you don't have to go to the Play Store and redownload it! You can create scheduled backups so you don't forget to do it manually yourself. You will figure out more once you use it after a while.
There's plenty of apps that will also more your installed apps on your device to your External SD Card. I use App2SD, its pretty easy to use and has never failed me so I don't bother looking for a "newer better" one.
I have never used Busy Box, I've heard of it though. I believe its just some type of Framework used in LINUX, I remember an app needed access to BusyBox and I didn't have it installed, so I just installed it to get where I wanted to go. You could find plenty of threads as to what it is and how to use it. I've never bothered unless I had to know about it for some reason.
Once you make a NANDroid, you are free to install ROMs. Choose anyone you think is good, read the posts and see if people are happy with a certain ROM. For my Note 8, I'm choosing to leave it Stock Rooted. You can also find Stock Rooted ROMs that have some extras besides what the manufacturer provides in their Devices.
There are also ROMs that will resemble what a Stock Vanilla Android device would be like, which is what the Nexus Devices that Google sell's on their Play Store such as the Nexus 4 or the older model, the Galaxy Nexus. There is a new Nexus device coming soon dubbed the "Nexus 5". Thats what I'm waiting for!
Thanks for the reply leo9891, great info.
I have backed up all my stuff with titanium and Nandroid manager. but i seem to be having trouble flashing the new rom onto the device
Am I right in thinking that I can do it through Nandroid or is there another way (via Odin)
Cheers
What was the build of your note I have emf2 and am unable to root with chainfire or the toolkit
Sent from my GT-N5110 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Now your rooted i highly recomend multi window manager its on the playstore and allows you to add ANY apps you like to multiwindow you can play a game and watch a movie at the same time, or have ebay open while on whatsapp it lets you choose what to put in the note 8s multiwindow and works very well.
Enjoy

It's best to use either ClockWorkMod (CWM) or use TeamWinRecoveryProject (TWRP). Flash your ROM through one of those. Also be sure to follow the installation process provided in the developers thread.
Hey all, how the heck is everyone. All the crazy chit going on today it almost seems weird talking about normal stuff lol, but I am not going to let politicians, isis, or end of the world get me down lol.... So I rooted my phone since I own it now and am on no contract. But, I kinda need guidance. So here is what I have done. Rooted, I have super user installed, rom manager installed with flashed recovery clockworkmod 6.0.3.8, root checker installed, sdcard manager installed, busybox installed, titanium backup installed.
Ok, so i am unsure where to go and what to do from here. The clockwork did not install an app to click on so i am unsure how to use it or what it is doing. Titanium backup shows all the apps and not sure do i select them all somehow to do a backup or do i even need them. Rom manager said it would do rom backup but that it would be in a secret system folder and not accessible unless you used adb, not sure what that even is, lol.
I know I am at a point where I need to backup the current rom... not sure I need to backup all the crazy apps i have on here... i mean u can always reinstall them... I rooted to give me more control and hopefully get rid of some things dont need, ok, which are those and how do i get rid of them, and also put on a kewl nice rom that looks great and adds allot to the phone, which rom would that be... trying to find screen shots of the roms....
Anyway, I appreciate any help... I know i am newbie but hope i have at least started off ok...
thank you all ahead of time......
