Hi there,
Just wanted to show how I switch ROMs using free apps. I am not responsible for any data loss. This is just my method and it is nothing new for many.
My focus is to backup Launcher settings, sms and contacts and apps+ their data.
I use these programs:
Es File explorer
Efficient backup
Appextrator( alternative 2)
Backdrop (alternative 3)
Superbackup (just in case)
Let's start.
My main method. First rule. Always do a nandroid backup before you install a new rom.
Then:
1) Backup Apps+data using Efficient backup. I don't backup system apps to avoid strange errors.
2) sms and contacts. copy in sdcard the folders /data/providers/contacts and /data/providers/telephony. Also export contacts as vcf file just in case.
3) install new rom. Install es file manager and Efficient backup. Restore apps+data using Efficient Backup.
4) Copy from previous backup in sdcard, the contacts and sms using Es file manager in this way:
copy all files from /sdcard/ data/providers/contacts/databases
To
/data/providers/contacts/databases and confirm.
Plus copy all files from /sdcard/data/providers/telephony/databases
To
/data/providers/telephony/databases and confirm.
Then reboot.
As launcher I use Apex and its backup feature.
To be continued...
You could just use MyBackup Root and do all of the above (minus the launcher settings.)
TiBu and Google Sync FTW!

Hi everyone, im a newbie and i wonder how to make a zip from twrp backup. The backup not the single zip file. But its look like this

hi all!.i wanted to know how to from scratch create a zip file containing a backup of my build.prop and make it flashable for cwmr.thanks
I need to know this because im wanting to make changes to my buildprop and if I end up in a bootloop or something I don't wanna restore with a nandroid backup over 1 small file, thanks.again
I ran into a bit of a problem with a Titanium backup.
Yesterday I upgraded to 5.0. OTA didn't work with CWM, so I got the pro version of Titanium backup and created a flashable zip of my apps and system data. Then I flashed 5.0 and CWM, and restored root with the kernel mod. All good. Then I tried to flash the zip file that TiBU created with CWM. CWM reports that it can't flash the file, says it is bad. File looks valid, it is 2.4GB.
I opened the zip on my mac and all my apps and data are there. What is the best way to get my apps and data back? Can I move the exploded zip file to a directory on my phone and then Titanium will be able to restore them? There are 700 files in the zip, an apk, .properties and a .tar.gz for each app.
Thanks!

ok, looks like I can push the files to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup and TiBU will recognize them and be able to restore them. Good to go, but thanks for being there

Hi does anyone know how to make flashable apk zip file? I want to make a zip file for my backed up apps to flash in twrp. Thanks for you help!
Titanium backup pro can create a flashable zip of backups of your apps. Although I'm not to sure whether if its the free or the paid version you can do this on.
When you open the application, theres a checkmark up at the top, press that. Then you can backup all of your apps under the Backup category.
Once done, you then scroll down to the bottom under the RECOVERY MODE options and select Create "update.zip" from app+data backups.
You then can restore with the update.zip of all the backups you have made, whether you have chosen app, app + data, or data only.
