This is a fork of the original N7100 Note 2 wireless mod thread found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951493
The purpose of this thread is to determine why the wireless charging pins on the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-T889) are not working after installing the MOD above.
Please view the thread above for more details about the original MOD, and to see what you need to do first in order to continue with the work around below.
Updated method on 8-5-2013: Thanks to SGBE
The updated method has a better solder point. See that thread OVER HERE.

The Work Around: (verified working on multiple devices)
We have a mod to make wifi charging work! Regardless if the T-Mobile GN2 is missing hardware or not, the work-around is a low cost (free?) alternative to get wifi charging working. Our work around involves soldering a small wire to a tiny point on the micro usb board. You should be able to solder a very small connection (about the size of a pen tip) before attempting this. The mod/workaround below is verified working with the stock charger and stock kernel. <- Pay attention to that last bit.
Workaround Known Issues:
Some kernels have a charge rate which is set too high for the PALM PRE Touchstone to work with. Likewise, some non-oem chargers can not deliver enough amperage to continuously charge the device wirelessly through the Touchstone. Therefore, if you have any problems (disconnect/reconnect proble), be certain that you are using a stock charging rate (kernel controlled) and a stock Galaxy Note 2 Charger (2,000mA). If you are still having problems check your mod for trouble, and finally post up and maybe someone can help you.
The Mod / Workaround:

New Information:
If you have new information on a hardware or software fix then it will be added here. Until that time, proceed with the workaround at your own risk. Once again, the work around instructional image is HERE.
WARNING: What was claimed to be a fix in the section below did not work, and ultimately people wasted money on bogus hardware. It is here for historical reference.
The Fix
You may need to purchase some missing hardware.
See page 7 for details (you need to replace the flex cable and micro-usb board): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34380437&postcount=65 The SKU number for the board is MBRPSS964.

Older info:
Some steps that I've personally done:
Completed the wireless mod above, confirmed wireless voltage reading of 5.56vdc.
Tested continuity between USB positive, and wireless positive - no connection.
Tested continuity from the negative wireless charging pin to the negative USB, SIM slot, various screws - they are connected.
Jumped the positive post on the USB to the wireless charging positive pin, the phone charges but is not practical to have a wire hanging out of the USB port.
I plan to pull apart the phone and check the paths from the positive and negative ports on the wireless pins. Attached is a picture from a SPRINT GN2 that does not have the pins, but supposedly works for charging once contact is made with the pads. I'm going to be using this to compare the circuit against my T-mobile version.
I hope you find something with this in the next few days when the full dis-assembly takes place

Now this makes sense. Because if both wireless and usb charging connections were directly connected together, the phone would have no way of knowing which charging system you were using. But we know from the tests on the international version that it does know. So this in no way tells us that positive is not connected at all.
Even though the phone doesn't detect wireless charging at this time in software, has anyone tried leaving it on the wireless charger to see if it still charges the battery?

I did this too, and waited for a while (waiting for the battery to drain on this phone is like trying to suck the ocean dry) - after a long time of playing video it dropped by 1% while on the wireless charger.

Yeah, I dont see any options other than soldering to the micro usb. It wont register as "wireless charging", but it'll work.

Sounds like a lot of us did the same thing. Knowing that, any folks who can test with their modded or kit wireless will help speed up the research for everyone! I'm hopeful at this point, but have not had a chance yet to do a tear down. Been working late hours this week but I should have a chance to disassemble the Gn2 this weekend for sure. So far the plan is to do a visual inspection of the wireless charging circuit and compare it to the sprint pictures in the OP. I'm guessing that a bypass is in order and it may be as simple as using some foil tape or conductive marker; but that's all speculation at this point. :good:

i ordered note 2 and wireless charging items (from amazon) the same time. I should've read it in detail. sighhhhhhhhh , cheaper to buy international note 2 also sighhhhhhhhh
seems like it may be hardware related, if you look to the left of the pins, there is something attached on the sprint board that is missing on ours i will circle it in the picture

I don't doubt your info, but it seems weird to me that other carriers (sprint specifically I think) can't access their pins, but would have added hardware that would make the phone capable of wireless charging, and we have access to the pins, but lack the hardware capability to take advantage of them.

I agree. I got a chance to take some macro shot of this with my DSLR. Pics attached.
I have a wind mobile note 2. Identical to the tmobile version. I did poke around with my multi meter and couldnt find the positive charging pin connected to anything. Just to be clear im no expert I just took my phone apart so it may help others figure this out. Especially since I already ordered the palm touch stone stuff lol

As it stands now, I jumped the USB 5vdc internally with a tiny wire, over to the wireless positive pin. It's working, although it was a tough mod. But it is totally internal so I guess this will have to do for now. So I have wireless charging (kind of, it works teh same as USB) on the T-mobile Note 2 now. If anyone wants to do the same thing, post up a pic of the board by the USB plug and I'll label the connector that you can use for the 5vdc source. The reason it's a tough mod is because you have to solder a small connection to the board under the capacitive touch buttons. It took me about 4 hours to find a good power lead on the board and make it all work internally!

I cannot wait for the official galaxy S3 wireless charging kit to come out.
I got inspired by the Galaxy mod that was done by using parts from a Palm Touchstone cover.
ww.qianqin.de/2011/09/28/high-waf-inductive-charging-mod/
I am pretty sure, that I don't need to do an intrusive operation as the one in the link - I believe that Samsung made pins ready for it under the cover.
Does anyone know what the two 'pins' that are exposed to the left of the battery are for?
Thanks!
There are countless threads regarding the "pins", wireless charging kits, and that mod.
I have a touchstone. And a back, and would like to see if anyone has applied this to the S3 and made it work

I have a feeling the wireless charging module will interact somehow with the two pins next to the battery. I was planning on attempting this mod using these pins but without a multimeter i am unable to tell whether these pins can be used and which way round to wire them up. If anyone can assist i would be grateful.

Yes. Countless threads about the mod for the Galaxy S, but I haven't been able to find anything about pins on the Galaxy SIII.

I have finally managed to find a page that claimt that the two pins next to the battery indeed are for wireless charging.
ww.trustedreviews.com/samsung-galaxy-s3_Mobile-Phone_review
Only problem is, I don't know Trusted Reviews - so I don't know how 'Trusted' they are?
All I need now is to find out which pin is 0V and which is +5V. (I'm pretty sure that the current is the same as the Palm cover provides.

Yes it works, it will be a little slower, im only seeing 450mah going in as opposed to about 1000mah
But that doesnt matter in the slightest as i mostly charge overnight
that is great news! That does not look too difficult and it looks as NFC is not touched. Just the translation is difficult and not knowing what samsung wireless charging is about.
I also wonder how snug the fit is after adding the magnets from the touchstone back cover?

yes he did, i'm gonna try it with just tape - his solder blobs seems to be huge and because of the the cover makes this bulge... maybe then it will fit perfectly
the samsung wireless charger looks nice but i like the idea with the magnets of the touchstone!
please post pictures and a possible video. This is so interesting!
i'll do as soon i get the touchstone kit and have some spare time to do this (hopefully on sunday...)
what happens when you place an induction charging compatible device on an induction cooking range? Will it charge the battery, or will it overload the circuitry and destroy the phone\battery?
I wonder what happens when you plug in the phone with usb while it's inductively charging.

My phone stopped charging, even though it would say it was charging and the battery icon indicated it was charging. I tried using a different charger and even bought a new battery. Those did not work. I then did some research and found out about the USB port problems with this phone and ordered a replacement cable. I installed the new cable and am still experiencing the same problem. Unfortunately, I am just outside the warranty period and I'm lost on what the issue could be. Anyone with a better understanding of these things have any ideas? Thanks.

Hi,

Now discovered it causes vbus_tuna_otg wake lock, resulting in high system usage in settings> battery and not letting phone go to deep sleep, causing battery drain.

I hope you're able to figure something out. My GNex is still out of commission. I moved to a Note 2 for my phone, but the GNex would make a great upgrade for my wife iPhone 4.
i went through this issue for 3 weeks before i realized that the usb cable that came with my phone was the culprit. i didn't think that it was the cable itself; since i had no issues with that cable connecting to my laptop. and well it also showed a charging state when it was hooked up to my car, AC outlet and the computer itself. i did have a spare usb micro charging cable in the car, but never used it. so i switched to this unused usb cable, and the charging resumed normally. in fact it chaged correctly within an hour.
to prove that it was the cable, i tested the 'bad' cable again over the next couple of days. it would charge slowly..at almost a trickle. on the third day, i went back to the new cable, and the phone charged quickly and normally.
i had already ordered a new battery, and a new usb charge port..but it looks as if those will not be used now-

I've tested different cables, adapter, and batteries. I have taken apart the entire phone and cleaned connections and cables. Nothing makes a difference.
The only thing I have noticed, and maybe someone can help here, is that under the main board on the top left side of the device there is a bank of gold components. One of mine is black in the middle. It looks like it could be a burn mark but could just be black marker. Has anyone noticed this on a device with this problem or a device that works? I haven't been able to find an image online.
I've seen several posts with users having this same exact issue. I'm pretty much convinced that it is unfortunately prob a hardware issue...Jus my opinion tho.

I spent the day online and on the phone with Samsung. They recognize that it is a problem with the main board since I have already replaced the USB port, but say my only option is to send it in for repair and pay out of pocket.
Its definitely not worth it to send it in so I'm still looking for other options.
Hey guys, don't know if people have done this already, but I just got a T-mobile S4 for testing this weekend and I wanted to find out if the wireless charging port was enabled since I've done the touchstone wireless charging mod on my S3 and note 2.
It was especially a PIA on the note 2 since T-mobile, in all of its corporate and engineering wisdom, decided to disable the feature for the Note 2, even though it was enabled for the S3. So for those of you who don't like to dissemble your new phone and solder on a tiny PCB, you'll be happy to know that I confirmed that wireless charging ports on the S4 is indeed enabled.
I took a pack of 4x AAA battery assembly, which provides ~4.7v of DC power, and connected to the charging port in the back. The small pair on the left is the charging port, the pair on the right is supposedly NFC, even though the NFC antenna is located on the battery for S4.
As you can see from the pics, the "the phone is now charging wirelessly" notification pops up when the circuit is live, which is pretty annoying IMO and can't be disabled (that's why we have custom roms right?)
I haven't gotten a chance to install the actual touchstone wireless charging receivers on the back yet, as this is a test unit that I have to return, but I don't imagine this to be too different than on the S3. There will be a slight bulge, but it'll be worth it.

Just follow the instructions from this thread (it's for an S3). The design for S3 is pretty similar, so it should work. Remember the positive pin is on the left, negative (ground) is on the right.
Also note that the touchstone mechanism is not Qi compatible, so it wont work with the newer charging mats for Nokia or HTC.
And always remember to perform these mods at your own risk.

Did you install any receiver on the S4?
I didn't mean to confuse anyone, I only confirmed that it is POSSIBLE to perform the mod. I used a 4.7v DC power supply to test if the wireless charging pins on the back are live, which wasn't the case for T-mobile note 2 so I had to check to make sure.
If you already have a Qi charger, you can get one of these receivers and connect it to your phone, then you'll be able to charger with your mat
http://www.ebay.com/itm/qi-Wireless...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item51abef6de9
But I would argue that the touchstone method is superior to qi if you plan on using it in a car, as the magnets keep the phone in place is it's really convenient to connect/disconnect when you're driving.

Samsung will be officially supporting wireless charging for the S4 through accessories. The ad for the pad and back wireless charging cover is already listed on the promo S4 accessories page. http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxys4/
Though there seems to be no price or date yet.
Of course there will be 3rd party wireless charging solutions as well.

yeah it's not the easier mod to do and def took me quite a few tries too
Took the Qi wireless receiver pad from my Galaxy S3, had to slightly tear it apart to reverse the little gold inserts that create the contact points for the wireless battery charging and now have a fully functioning wireless charging Galaxy S4 !
Saved myself quite a bit of money doing that.

It seriously only took 5~10 minutes once I'd figured out which way to put what.
I have the photos set up and just need to put notes on them explaining what I did.
Will post them when I get home tonight (12am CT)
Ummmm, from everything I read the pins you have it hooked up to are NOT the ones for inductive charging, the gold ones on the right are......
I could be mistaken however. I remember the s3 used those pins, but I've read in a couple places that the ones made specifically for inductive charging are the ones on the right above the battery.

What ARE all the other pins back there for? I figured one set (had no idea which one) was for inductive charging, but couldn't figure a reason for the others..

the smaller set is wireless charging, the larger set is presumably for additional NFC antenna (although I measured no resistance in the circuit with my voltmeter), as the back cover seemed to have a carved out area for a NFC like the Note 2 did.
Although the S4 battery says "NFC" on it, which seems like samsung made a last minute decision to put NFC on the battery instead of the back cover... oh samsung ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nope, the NFC is in fact in the battery, the same way Samsung has been doing it for years now. They made no change.
Oh false information from people that don't know what they're talking about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a review of MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) micro-usb to HDMI adapter with a remote: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/MHL...TV-Adpater-Cable-with-Remote-Control-PCA-380/ and High Speed HDMI v1.4 male-to-male cable: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/V1....XBOX360-Bluray-Disc-HDTV-DVD-Black-PCA-4196D/
If you guys think this is going to be just another HDMI adapter you have seen so many times in the forum - it's not! Typical adapters have a small converter unit with a male HDMI connector, micro-usb power input, and a cable with micro-usb connector going to your phone. Sure it works, but if you to connect it to your TV you have to fumble around to plug it in in the back panel connecting all the wires in blind or get female-to-male extension cord, and also once you connect the phone - you have to control it by going over to tap that pause button. Well, this MHL adapter got a few bonuses to make it unique.
The main unit is your typical converter which has micro-usb power input, extension cord with micro-usb connector going to the phone, and HDMI connector which is actually female instead of typical male. I think its actually to the advantage because male-to-male HDMI cables are more common than male-to-female extension chords. If you already have one, then you have nothing to worry about, but if you don't I included in my review such high speed cable (v1.4) which is of a fantastic quality, high durability, gold-plated connectors, and for $3 from tvc-mall - its a great value. The micro-usb connector going to the phone is actually 5-pin connector to make this adapter more universal with other phones. But have no worry if you have S3/N2/S4 with 11-pin micro-usb connector. In the package also included a very short 5-pin to 11-pin adapter which seamlessly integrates with a connector, just leave it on since we need to use it with Note 2. You will need to connect power source to keep it happy which also chargers your phone, although as you can see from the pictures recognized as USB source rather than AC (typical for these adapters). Of course, the big bonus in here is a remote control!!! You get all your typical Android control buttons, a separate play/pause/stop, and directional navigation buttons with ok/enter. When you sitting on the couch away from your TV where the phone is connected, to be able to control video stream or navigation is priceless!
Overall, both the adapter and cables (if you don't have one already) are the great value and with a bonus of remote control - make a killer combination for connecting your phone to TV and being able to control it from a distance. I personally was very happy with this order from tvc-mall.

I assume you are not running CyanogenMod or any AOSP-based ROM, because AFAIK, they don't work with MHL/HDMI output. Are you running a stock Samsung ROM?

I'm stock, not rooted.
TV should see 720p from the phone. In my particular setup I have an old big screen Sony tube TV without hdmi, so I'm using hdmi to AV converter and because of old 4:3 resolution everything gets a bit messed up but I'm not complaining

Honestly, it's no different than ordering from ebay. With tvc-mall you do have to pay for shipping, but it's not that much and often the more you buy the cheaper shipping per item. But you will also notice their prices are a lot more cheaper than others so shipping cost is offset. Plus, the more stuff you buy the cheaper it is. I have ordered from them for awhile now (all my "almost real" cases were from there - although they don't officially carry it anymore, but unofficially it never hurts to ask them in email ). Even got a roll up drum kit toy for my kids the last time, and placing another order now for a few bluetooth small speakers, some 3.5mm cables, some toys, etc.. Plus, I just ordered a few more of those short usb cables with built in micro-sd card reader (the one I reviewed in my "smiley" cable review); I want to check it out if another cable will work with micro-sd since it didn't work with my original one.
If/when you place an order with them, chime in and share your experience.
Have you noticed any flickering? I've tried 2 different TV's, and only got it to work consistently once. Other times it shows the screen, then after a few seconds, flashes like it lost connect and comes back on.

Are we talking about exactly the same MHL adapter with Note 2 (stock, not rooted)? I can only speak for that setup and it works perfect. I only saw flickering using this setup with Galaxy S4 which has MHL v2 standard. With the setup above it was solid.
What I would suggest first to make sure all the cables are connected properly. What you describing is sounds almost like an intermittent behavior of a loose cable connection. HDMI cables usually have a sturdier connection, but check that anyway. Usually micro-usb is where you get it loose. Another thing to check is the power connection. If you are using 500mA wall charger that will not be enough to power it up, you will be current starving the converter. I was using my 2A oem wall charger.
Good luck!
Exact same adapter (I bought it after seeing your review), but I am running a different Rom (CleanRom 5.0). All connections are fine on the TV side, and I've replugged in the micro-usb (with adapter) into the N2 a few times, with same results. The wall charger should be good as well. Using the GCC app, I get a 1800 avg current.
Will test it more in depth tonight.

I've only had time to try it once more, and it worked continuously for hours. Haven't changed anything on my phone, used the same cables. Will report back after I test it a few more times.
I got mine in the mail and it charges the phone but thats about it.
Bought it 2 days before but i didnt got it to work... :-/
I m in stock rom but rooted...
any ideas..?
are you guys using 5-to-11 adapter? Also, try to play around with powering it up first and then connecting hdmi cable versus connecting cable first and then powering it up. I actually used mine yesterday and it was working for awhile until my tv started to flicker which suggested connection was getting loose somewhere. Plus, I was playing on non-HD tv with hdmi to component converter and was using 1A external battery to power up this guy. So the power is used for both MHL converter and my HDMI converter, and I'm thinking maybe I should have used 2A charger for it... So just another suggestion maybe to make sure you use higher current charger to power it up?
No Luck for Me on N2 w/CleanRom 5.0
Well, I've had no luck at all. Purchased and received, hooked up as directed with OEM charger to rooted N2 running CleanRom 5.0. Not even a flicker on the Visio set I hooked it to. Phone acknowledges it is being charged, though the microUSB connectors (particularly on the adapter piece) seem a bit sketchy. But no matter what sequence I use to hook up, the TV never indicates even a flicker. Any other suggestions? Any setting on phone that triggers HDMI out? I use USB drives and devices without a hitch otherwise. The MHL Unit lights up and indicates it receives signals from the remote. I just never get a flicker on the TV.
Me neither...tried the 2amp charger also but no luck at all... I ve contacted the supplier and asked for a new one..(have to wait for a couple of weeks.. :-/ ) will try again then...
Is there any possibility that the problem is because we are ''rooted''..?
Better News!
:good: For those having trouble, I'm posting again to report I finally got mine working (except for the remote)! So it's not a problem with being rooted OR with running a custom ROM (at least CleanRom). I don't know about Cyanogen, or others that are not based on/derived from the orginal stock ROM, but I'm delighted to report that it works as gloriously as vectron indicated. As I indicated in my post above, the way the micro-USB connectors went together seemed sketchy to me, but I discovered that's where the problem lies -- and I'm guessing the same is true for others who have experienced failure like me.
I did more research and watched demo vids, etc. and paid close attention to how the parts went together. The key for me was to go ahead and force (gently but firmly) the 5 to 11 adapter ALL THE WAY into the phone jack. Mine didn't go in easily, and I was spooked to push too hard, but in the end that's what I had to do. When I pushed past the resistance and finally seated it firmly and fully flush with the bottom of the phone, VOILA!, the recognition message came up and immediately the HDMI was output to the TV. Both sound and audio worked really fine. It's pretty amazing when you see it work.
One note about the connectors. There is still a space between the 5-11 adapter and the MHL device plug. On mine at least, this connects WITHOUT being fully flush. BUT, as noted above, the adapter needs to be fully flush with the bottom of the phone. Hope this works for the rest of you. It is sweet if you get it working. vecron was correct, the key in in the connectors. They are finicky, but if you get them right, it works like a charm.
Especially when you are dealing with 11 months old Note 2 where you put a lot of wear''n'tear mileage on that micro-usb phone connector That's my problem
Regarding remote, not too insult your intelligence, I think there was a piece of plastic stuck in battery compartment so make sure its out for remote to work. Another point, that remote is not RF but rather IR (infrared) which requires direct visual contact with receiver element so you gotta make sure to point remote to that space on the converter. Hopefully that will fix your problem.
Hi guys,
I used to have a HD2 with a wireless cover and touchpad tablet (HP) with the wireless stand and got used wireless charging.
One of the first things I wanted to add to the Moto G was the ability to charge without messing around with the weak micro usb connection so I bought one of these QI Universal Charger kits from Ebay.

QI is a "new" standard for Wireless charging, it is the same method used by the Nexus devices, Samsung and Nokia, so any QI pad should work.
Putting all together (huge amount of work )
It's a cheap mod (you can get both, QI base and transmitter for less that £15) and it doesn't look too bad.
The micro usb plug is smaller than usual, and it creates only a small gap at the bottom of the phone (usb) where the cable has to be bended to fit over the battery. (it's thinner than the one in the last picture)
Quick MP4 video showing it working (save as):
http://tinyurl.com/qbpjv22/VID1.mp4
The male micro USB has only 2 wires (5v/gnd) so to be able to allow the phone to "detect" power and start charging you need to enable some obscure parameter (I said obscure because I couldn't find any info about it other than in the moto g kernel source files) called "floating charging"
I wrote a simple app to change the state of this parameter, as expected it needs root because it has to write into the msm_otg/parameters file to switch it on and off.
link for the MotoFloatingCharge app:
http://tinyurl.com/qbpjv22/MotoFloatingCharge.apk
http://tinyurl.com/qbpjv22/MotoFloatingCharge_v13.apk
I've read that some people are having problems finding a USB charge/cable that charges the phone, so this "tool" may help with that too.
I'm planning to do a "less obtrusive" mod in the future. Making a couple of holes in the plastic covering the usb socket (below the back cover) and soldering two wires directly from the micro usb to the QI transmitter, but in the meantime I though sharing this "mod" with you. (we all know how long it takes to get cheap ebay stuff from China )
Enjoy
EDIT: the new version enable/disables the LED while charging.
EDIT2: another new version which restore the settings after a reboot
Can you still use the micro usb to plug some flash drive or something else or in order to use the usb i'll have to unplug the wireless charger?
Thanks for ther app, a lot of people might have the same problem.
talk to a Mod., he should move it to "Moto G Accessories" and maybe stick this thread

Based on the images I found on the web, you have to unplug this thingy if you want to use other microUSB devices. Yes, you need to unplug the male usb if you want to use it for OTG or data transfer, but I normally do all wireless (ftp server/smb share)
I'm planning to put it inside, by passing the USB socket and soldering some wires from the micro usb to some pad. Still is not that bad, you can remove the usb plug without removing the case for some quick OTG . 8)
Has anyone found any receivers that have a higher than 1A current? I'm looking to use this with my tablet, and 500mA won't charge it well, if at all.

Don't trust too much the rating these charging things can supply to the device. I don't think they are limited to the 0.500A that is showed on the sticker.
I can charge my Nook HD and HD2 without any problem using these "universal" pads, and both are quite "picky" in terms of charging.
There will be no other way but rooting to fix this? Don't want to lose my warranty for this.

To fix the power thingy?
I think it is related to the power the base can provide.
I saw some video in youtube showing a different charging pad and it was working without the need of the "floating charging" trick

Dear dubidu,
Does this still work for the latest software update? I have a non-GPE Moto G which I rooted. I can use your application to turn on the "floating charger" parameter. Closing and reopening your application shows that the parameter is indeed set correctly. However, it still doesn't charge when lock screen is set to slide. The notification LED turns on but the battery icon does not show the lightning thing. If it's set to an unlock pattern it works fine.
I did receive and install an OTA update about two days ago. I'm hoping I can still somehow get it charging with the lock screen set. Anything else I can try?
Thanks for creating the application!

Hi,
I'm still on 4.3 (the battery life is really good and I can't see any reason to upgrade to 4.4), but I'm not sure why it will not work.
If the white led is on, that means it is getting juice (it should) because that is controlled at "kernel" level and not by the app.
Maybe someone else with 4.4 can comment (I'm trying to avoid it as much as I can

You are correct, even though it wasn't obvious the phone is indeed charging. However, the lightning icon is not shown and the lock screen does not display the "Charging XX%" text. This is why I thought it wasn't charging initially. It's like the device isn't aware that it is being charged, although the battery % is updated correctly if you manually display it.
I don't care about this minor issue though, there's probably nothing we can do about it. I am very happy that it is working Thanks again for your work.
I have the XT1058 Moto X, and came across this thread while searching for solutions to my wireless charging problem, and I am glad I did. The app works great with the Moto X as well after enabling it and rebooting. Battery status shows it charging, yet status bar icon does not reflect this state. After reading other posts, it sounds like this is common, meaning no Daydream while charging this way, but I am happy it charges nonetheless
Kudos to you dubidu. Until I manage to create a pin bridge in the micro usb connector from the receiver to coax the phone into thinking this is a normal usb charger, this app will do just fine.

Glad it works for the Moto X.
I also did the hack, trying to put a small wire in the usb plug to "simulate" the two data wires, , but then I decided to have a look at the source code around the usb/otg area, and found that floating thingy.
If I have time, I may do a kernel with the changes, so the "feature" it is active all the time, but need to redo my VM build machine.
I don't reboot the phone often so the tools is good enough
if someone had enabled init.d, here's the script that do the same as the app:
Code:

echo "Y" > /sys/module/msm_otg/parameters/floated_charger_enable
echo battery-charging > /sys/class/leds/charging/trigger
has to decompile the app to know both variables. maybe i could ask those variables here, but it will be no fun LoL

I discovered a trick how to charge with custom rom without the need of this app and without a lock pattern:
Set a lock pattern. Go to lockscreen and make the pattern 5 time wrong. Click the "lost password" link and enter your google account. Now the system has no lock pattern but still charges with the QI adapter.
