Facebook calendar birthdays in S Planner is off by one day. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have any idea on why the birthdays of my friends in S Planner are ALL early by one day?
The birthdays are sync'ed with Facebook, and the calendar settings in my S Planner include Facebook.
Anyone have this problem?

Have you tried going to the s planner setting and checking what time zone your phone is set on ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app......If I helped you please press the thanks button

Tried that.
Got nothing to do with timezones.
It's people's birthdays being one day earlier than supposed to be.
Wonder why that is...

Logic dictates it must be time zone.

be careful to see that sunday is on the far right and not the far left.
that's why you might be confused.

I know how to differentiate my Sundays from my Saturdays. How thick do you think we are?
My girl's birthday is on the 15th. Her Facebook says 15th. The planner shows it as 14th.

Please check timezone songs in fb. Many ppl do not set it in fb

Yeah it's a Facebook thing. my cousin's iphone does the same thing.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Hmmm. I get this too. I can confirm that it's not a time zone issue. The calendar is using GMT+0 (London, etc), the phone itself is also set to GMT+0. Facebook is using the timezone of my computer (as per: https://www.facebook.com/help/220393734657140/), which is UTC+0, but that's the same as GMT+0. There's no way to change any of them from GMT to UTC or vice versa. I also restarted my phone, wiped S-planner's cache and data, but none of this has made a difference - my birthdays imported from facebook are all a day early.
EDIT: Oh, and I also set both facebook and S-planner to use monday as the first day of the week, so that's another thing to rule out.

Mine is having the same problem but it only occurs after June. First 6 months is on the correct date and after that everything is off by one day. Has anyone resolved this? I've checked my phone's, Facebook and S Planner time zone settings and they all match. I've also resynced Facebook and cleared the cache. Nothing has fixed it for me. I might just contact Samsung if nobody can figure it out. I'll post the solution if I find one.

I haven't resolved it yet. It's annoying because now I can't be sure when to send people a birthday note. I don't want to look stupid and send them things a day early lol.

I also have SOME Facebook Birthdays showing one day early. And it's random. For January I have a few that are correct and a few that are wrong

Have you found any solution to this then? I believe the closest solution would be Enhanced Email, but seems it hasn't support calendar sync for ICS yet.

Have tried Moxier mail.
It works, so it must be some bug in the stock synchronization.

Does Moxier integrate exchange calendar into phone's calendar like Enhanced Email or it's like TouchDown which has a separate database and view for your exchange account like TouchDown?
No, unfortunately it doesn't merge it whit the calendar, it's a standalone app.

have tried it, too bad it's another stand alone app, really got used to viewing all calendar details in month view and now I can't live with other apps
Enhanced Email supports ICS since v1.33, feeling good about it, past events are synced perfectly, (still gotta see if it has the wakelock bug which stock app has) but gotta pay 10USD for a feature that Google should've provided.

JB facebook sync workaround

Okay this isnt a complete solution for jb but if you use Facebook for alot of your numbers then this will work for you. Unfortunately for now haxsync doesn't sync numbers just pics, statuses, etc etc so what i did was use an app called super backup: sms and contacts and backup contacts in an ics rom that supports fb sync then flash the jb rom and restore contacts with the same app. You should have them all and it actually makes them into regular contacts so you dont have to use fb anymore for them. If you want hq pics then use haxsync or any of the other fb picture sync apps

Nice find, I wish I saw this while I was still on ics. I made a post about this a few weeks ago but didn't get much input
Thanks

Np and hey you can just backup your current setup and then flash an ics rom that has fb sync and go back to the backup. Itll take maybe 30mins max but its worth it if you need the contacts like i do

I might just use my old sgs2. Sync the contacts there and copy over to my nexus

that works too lol
Thanks for the info

Another workaround:
I was going to start a new thread on this, but since it's my first post I feared getting flamed..
So, here's the best workaround that I've come across for phone number syncing for Facebook on Jelly Bean..
1. Go ahead and sync your facebook contacts by clearing the Facebook app cache and adding your Facebook account to your phone. It will ask you to sign in, and then it will sync contacts without phone numbers.
2. As you try to dial someone's number and you realize that it's on Facebook instead of Google, open up the Facebook app and search for that contact by clicking the "three horizontal line" icon on the top left.
3. The contact will have a phone icon next to their name if they have their phone number stored on Facebook. Go ahead and click the phone and it will bring their number up in the dialer.
4. On the bottom right of your dialer, click the "three dot" icon and select "add to contacts". You know what to do from there.
It's not the best solution, but it's the best i've seen so far. You won't have all of your contacts at once, but you can search for the ones that you know right off the bat, and then search for them as needed later on.
Thats a really long process lol i have over 300 friends so that would take forever. My process saves you alot of time and has the added benefit of turning the fb contacts into regular Google contacts.
Also haxsunc doesn't sync numbers so alone it was useless to me lol

All of your facebook contacts can be dialed directly from Facebook. So just keep them on the facebook app until you need to dial a specific Facebook contact, and then take the extra 2 seconds and save it to Google contacts before you dial it.
Plus, I'm sure everyone doesn't need that weird kid from science class from the 7th grade's phone number. This way you can pick and choose who to add as you need it.
Even if there is eventually a way to sync every facebook contact, i much prefer this method.
Thank you for the tip

Loss of Contacts....

I recently flashed a new rom on my girls GS2 and she now is telling me that she is missing several hundred contacts. i asked her if they were all tied to her google account and she told me that they were until now. she's had several other androids in the past and always had all the contacts transfer just fine. I work for T-Mobile and i have seen this issue in a couple of other devices before but have never been able to come up with any sort of rhyme or reason as to what, why, or how this is happening. can anyone shed some light on this for me? and if anyone knows a way to possibly recover those missing contacts that would help me out greatly. plus, it kinda worries me to think that one day if i flash a new rom onto my phone i may log in only to find i have lost all of my contacts......
thanks
josh

thats the big issue, they deleted out of her google account completely. on the phone and online. she had something like 800 contacts (crazy i know) the other day and now she only has around 250. ive seen this happen with a few of my customers phones at work as well where one day they have contacts stored to gmail then suddenly they are gone. its very strange.
Umm were they mostly guys number?
Are you sure it wasn't part of fb of fb contact sync?

I am having the same problem. Phone was setup to sync contacts to gmail... but now its gone off phone and off gmail.
If I recall correctly, Google has an option to revert to previous versions of contacts up to 30 days ago. Maybe that would work?

How did Facebook calendar events get on my S Planner?

Probably trivial, but I'm wondering how on earth did I get Facebook calendar events on my S Planner?
I didn't set any settings and they automatically appeared on my calendar.
Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

Open the facebook app and go to its settings and one of the options near the bottom of the list will sort you out.
I see it, but it's the sync contacts option. And I have that off anyway. It's something else...

Once I have done the sync thing, can I remove the facebook app? Is it still going to work?
Once you remove the FB app any data tied to it will be removed (contact pics, birthdays, email info etc).

The Facebook app will shortly be replaced with a native Android app as opposed to HTML5, so expect improvements there.
That being said, I've not noticed any particular battery drain from the Facebook app.

That's why you turn off the notifications within the app because it will also disable the refresh interval and force the app to only refresh when you open the program.
