Google Voice and the Galaxy Note II - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Just got my Note II in the mail. After the initial setup, I attempted to compete some additional tweaking. Alas, I could NOT find the settings for google voice on the Note II, which are easily found on my Galaxy Nexus.
On the Galaxy Nexus, from inside the GV app, the settings icon (3 vertical dots) is located on the far right hand side and is 1 of 5 icons at the bottom. On the Note II it's only 4 icons present AND THE SETTINGS ICON IS MISSING...!!! For the love of GOD it's missing...
little help...LOL

Menu.... Settings ?

To my chagrin, I've located the setting icon...On the Note II the icon is on the device itself, on the left hand side...

Ha ha sorry but I had to laugh about this 0_o, our phone has a physical menu button, only nexus and new Motorola uses the on screen menu

Keyboard icon in status bar...

There's no way to disable this is there? I can't stand having icons in the notification bar and it's quite annoying to have one every time I need to type.
I already tried freezing the android keyboard in TB but couldn't find the Japanese IME keyboard to freeze. Don't think it would have worked anyway cuz even with the android keyboard frozen it still showed up in the choices...

I'm not sure you should/could get rid of it. Isn't it the only way to change keyboards "on the fly"(apart from menu)?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Yeah as far as I know.. I just wish they had made it the way it normally is.. Which is long press..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Could you not leave it to system default for no keyboard symbol and then just hold down the mic icon on the keyboard to change it in the fly?
Edit: Ha, AdrianE46 beat me to it

I guess you could "skin" the keyboard icon in framework-res.apk (or wherever that icon is) into a plain black or transparent icon so you can't see it lol.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
You can disable it completely. There is a boolean value in framework-res called show_ongoing_ime_switcher. Some people like it apparently so I've made it toggle-able

I don't have the settings key on my Nexus. When I was using an ICS beta on my Desire it was there, but I didn't even realise till now that my Nexus doesn't have it.
I just mucked around with a few settings and found what brings it up, and therefore what takes it away. In the Android keyboard settings menu, the very top option 'Input languages', if 'Use system language' is ticked, then the keyboard icon won't show up. As soon as you untick that and select more than one language at a time, the icon will be there.
That's what brought it up for me, I don't know if there's another option that can make the icon appear, but hopefully that helps someone?

hold onto the "space bar" on the stock 4.0 android keyboard and the keyboard switcher will pop up
I discovered that by accident just now
Yea its annoying even on honeycomb. I don't need an icon every time I use a 3rd party keyboard.

Apps with an status bar icon will get high priority. So keyboard icon to make sure the kb got the response it needs?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Oh... must be talking about third party keyboards... stock doesn't do that.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Stock would do it if you had more than one keyboard enabled..
The idea of blacking out the icon is a great idea.. I just have no idea how to do it lol...

To get the keyboard icon off, you have to delete the keyboards that you aren't using. When you delete these keyboards the keyboard icon should go away. You have to have a file manager like root explorer. Go to /system/app folder and delete openwnn.apk for the Japanese keyboard and Pinyin.apk for the Chinese keyboard. After you do that, the keyboard icon should go away, it did for me.
Never noticed the keyboard icon until I chanced on this thread. At times this forum can seem a little like the hypochondriac flicking through the medical dictionary to see what's wrong with them. But then again if you are I'll..
I think the reasoning behind it is they want it more user friendly for folks that arent hardcore like you'd find on here. Basically, a long press is a "hidden" function compared to having it show up on the top for switching inputs. I kind of like it that way anyway, besides, it only shows up when you are typing anyway so It really doesnt bother me much.
Annoys me too. For the first few days I kept checking it assuming it was an action item, then finally figured out it was just there in case I needed it. If I could disable this notification, I would.
The problem with changing the bool to hide the ime switcher is that third party keyboards no longer switch. Only the stock keyboard seems to be enabled.

[Request]Screenshoting like on Galaxy S III

Hi guys.Do you know any way to take screenshots like on Samsung Galaxy S III.I mean swiping the screen from a side to the other side?I am rooted with AOKP B36.Thx
What's wrong with vol down+power? Seems that would be preferable over a gesture that could disturb the screen you're trying to capture.
The guy above me said it

How could it disturb the screen? You do know that it uses the proximity sensor, not touch right? Its not like you drag you hand on the screen.

Nope, had no idea. I'd still prefer the button method though. Knowing me, I'd look like a fool waving my hand around over my phone :/
On aokp press and hold power button and then press screenshot.

Sorry my english is not good.
On AOKP, you can also do the power/volume down.

System applications without menu icons

Hello, I've got my nexus running xenon-hd and I've used the Rom settings to restore the traditional button arrangement I had on my captivate as you can see in the screen shot. My question is, with a menu button and search button now, is there a way to get rid of the three doors that appear on gapps like here in the messaging?
On jelly bean on my galaxy s 1, they weren't there because the phone has physical buttons. Not really a big deal, just curious. Thanks

I don't think it uploaded the picture correctly, trying again.
Nope, no dice, will try from my computer later, but for reference I mean this http://img.tapatalk.com/5224c050-7b59-f27b.jpg
Of course this isn't my phone, I have "menu, home, back, search" as the soft keys. But the three dots beside the attach icon are what I'm asking about removing

Menu - Settings - Motion
Check "Palm Swipe to Capture". Once the setting is enabled, turn your hand like you are going to karate chop something and then touch the screen with the bottom of your hand while swiping the screen from left to right (or right to left lol) .

My Pie Control Settings for the Note II

I have set up Pie Control to be a huge benefit for one handed use of the Note II, putting the hard to reach bottom buttons on the right and left sides of the screen. With this set up, I can hold the phone in either hand and not have to juggle the device around to hit the Menu, Home, Back, and Recent Apps and can also activate Voice Search in Google Now.
Here are my settings:
Autostart TouchService: Enabled
TouchService mode: pie
Set gesture input: 2
Add to pie blacklist: Added my games and other things that I touch the edge of the screen a lot with.
Activation area position: Left and right
Activation area thickness: 25
Longpress time: 1000
Animation time: 50
Pie Item 1: Home
Pie Item 1 long press: RecentApps
Pie item 2: Back
Pie item 2 longpress: RecentApps
Pie item 3: Menu
Pie item 4: SearchLongpress < This will instantly activate voice search or s voice
I'll give er a shot brotha. Thanks for this.

I like pie control. I have button one as home, button two as back, button 3 as recent apps, button four as menu and button 5 as app drawer.
The bad thing is the app drawer is pie controls app drawer so it's really leggy when scrolling through apps. I don't see a way through Pie control setting to change to the system app drawer.
On level two I have a few apps like Tapatalk, browser and messaging app. When you select the apps there is a one or two second delay before the app opens. Not sure why..
i dont understand how to make pie appear and once it does how do i press the buttons

After it's enabled, you have to start it. Once started, you should see the bars on the sides. Try a lighter color wallpaper if you don't see it.

After selecting something, it takes a little bit to start back. Mine seems to work fine unless I activate it quick and then try to use it again immediately afterward. Maybe it's the apps or actions that you are using that could cause the delay. Just a thought.
I have been unable to make this work on my note 2 from sprint plus it forces close. What do I need to do here I have tried everything that was suggested but it still does not work.
Could someone please tell me how to activate this feature on the Note 2? I did it once a long time ago but now I can't remember how to do it. Swiping isn't doing anything.
