So I have a problem with my Kindle Fire, I have it rooted and have clockwork recovery installed, I was able to flash MIUI rom a few months back with no problem, then switch back to Amazon GUI; Since then I haven't really tried flashing a different rom since I was busy and haven't really been using the tablet.
Yesterday I downloaded a few roms backed up the current system and tried (with no luck) installing the roms but it gets stuck on the boot logo (I tried the following);
AlienDroidV5.0.1
cm-10-20121101-UNOFFICIAL-otter
cm-10-20121105-1516-otter-sgt7-linaro
jandycane_otter-v1.8.0_0xD34D
jb-kfire-hashcode-10-10
At that point I thought maybe my kindle (somehow) upgraded even though it was showing version 6.2.1 in the settings, so I upgraded the Kernel (I used the following);
fff-u-boot_v1.4a
Then tried installing the ROMs again, with the same problem, I then tried installing the Amazon 6.2.2 (6.2.2-rooted-secureboot) which installed great, worked on the first try...
Yes, I wiped Cache, Develik, Battery and Factory wipe before each rom attempt. I tried using the Kindle Fire Ultimate Utility to kick the tablet out of boot logo loop but the tablet doesn't respond to the commands.
So, can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Alan
Your recovery is your problem change to twrp. 1.4a is not a kernel it`s a bootloader. huge difference. Pretty sure that most every op of ICS or Jelly Bean has some notation about using twrp to flash the Roms have chosen.

I'm sure that for you, this is not amusing. But for me, its funny for so many reasons. We'll fix you up, don't worry. But first let me explain a few things.
When you make any alterations to Amazon's proprietary Kindle Fire interface such as rooting or installing custom recovery, you void your warranty and in the process waive certain benefits like Amazon customer service.
But since you have already done that, you want to make sure you have good fail safes to protect your investment. Of course one of those fail safes is custom recovery (TWRP). Removing it at this point with the skill level you are at right now is a VERY BAD IDEA.
The good news is, your Kindle is not broken. In fact, its doing exactly what it was designed to do, although its pretty hard for you to see that at the moment.
So the first thing you need to do is read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747567
And come back when you are done

I'm guessing thousands of people have used TWRP successfully to get ROMs installed, so I suspect something else is going on. Maybe you'd like to give this a read...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
so you can get an idea of how things work. Then if you want to explain...
1) what you did so far and how you did it
2) how you are trying to install ROMs
3) exactly what your Kindle Fire is doing
I or someone else here can help you get where you are going. Whether that's flashing a new rom or going back to stock, that's up to you.
As a side note, calling Amazon to tell them you've voided the warranty by flashing unauthorized software and then asking for help is probably not a good idea.
EDIT: There were no replies yet when I started typing.
Next Step
Alright I have read the thread from that link, now what is the next step?
It could be the cable. When you download stuff, always try at least 5 times. I always have to anyway.
Haha to calling Amazon by the way.

Lol, to calling Amazon. Stick in there buddy a few months ago I was also a totl noob. It gets easier and there are lots of peeps here that can help you with pretty much any problem. A little bit of searching help too. What I do before I even start downloading ROM's, mod's or, add-ons, I do a bit of research. That way I where to look again if I bork something.
kindle gen 1 twrp
Hey I have a KF 1st gen that I have rooted. Currently it is I guess stuck in twrp. It is holding the blue and white KF logo. I can use the power button to go into boot mode/twrp to reboot. However once past that area it will immediately power down. And truly I would liketo go back to stock rom.

Your in Bootloader, and Twrp is not working correctly
You will need to flash twrp to fix.
See How to flash twrp and firefirefire with a Fastboot cable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53652317&postcount=2
Shows basic steps, you have Bootloader, so don't need the fastboot cable, so download adb files, and twrp.IMG
And use
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrpfilename
Fastboot reboot

KF1 flashed with TWRP 2.2.21-blaze/CM11 OtterX Nightly
Successfully flashed the above TWRP on a KF1, and then used it to install CM11 OtterX Nightly the latest (10-04-2015) build.
Now it's stuck in boot loading.
Reentering TWRP console, which I can do--I have full TWRP, but I no longer have any Zips to install from. (My SDCard was wiped.)
I've tried to use ADB to push (after struggling with the drivers) the build back to my KF1, but I find I don't have permissions set up correctly.
I did reflash TWRP as is recommended below, but that did not help the boot load freeze.
Can I use ADB to push the build back for a reinstall? Can I use fastboot to push it?
What is the proper course to recover this KF1?
BTW, I do not have a factory cable.
Thanks for the help!

TWRP 2.2.21-blaze is not compatible with any roms with "OtterX" , CM11, or CM12
"Otter" CM 11 requires Twrp 2.7.1.0 or newer
see Kindle Fire Flashable Recoveries/FFF TWRP/COTR/CWM
OtterX roms require OtterX bootloader, and OtterX Twrp
see [How To] Fix Otter X Install Errors, Partition sizes, Unable to Mount System.

what's the full file name? size?
So, SD, I was able to install the pico Open Apps after installing gaps-kk. When that had me hanging in boot, I entered TWRP again and then did a wipe. On a whim, I rebooted into TWRP after the wipe, and tried to install the PICO OpenGapp zip. And, it installed!
I rebooted, and now I have GAPPS!
Can't explain it, but now it works. Thanks for all your help!

Do yourself a favour and install FFF from TWRP, installing it as you would any other ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632375
Have you wiped cache, dalvik-cache and factory reset? Tried reinstalling the ROM?
Can I boot into twrp without firefirefire, if so please tell me how. Because all my fire does is trys to boot into glazed but it loads for a bit then freezes.

Ohh, I thought you were already in TWRP. Are you using the stock bootloader? Ie, never installed any FFF at all?
I guess you'll have to use firekit and do the usb boot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038 - usb_install_fff_twrp), but perhaps someone else can provide better advice.
EDIT: What version of TWRP do you have? Have you had 2.0 installed before?
I have twrp installed plus i backed up before i flashed the rom. But i do not have firefirefire.

Sure, but what version of TWRP do you have installed?
Not really sure on which version, its the one that came with the kindle fire utility.
If you've done it recently then it's 2.1 or 2.1.1, neither of which do include FFF. So in the end, I guess it falls to the usb boot method and firekit.
Total noob here, can you tell me how to do what you're talking about?
If no one else can suggest a better alternative, you'll have to head to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038 and follow the instructions there. The script that interests you is "usb_install_fff_twrp". You will have to open the KF's case.
EDIT: I suppose you could also buy a factory mode cable, should work as well, and it's safer (no need to open the KF and short pins).
What would I need to do if I bought a factory cable?
Install the fastboot drivers if they aren't already (included in KFU), then install FFF from fastboot mode.
The rest is simple, just booting into TWRP, then wiping cache, dalvik-cache and doing a factory reset, and finally installing that ROM again or whatever other ROM you'd like to try...

The recovery failed...screen went dark, had to hold power to reset, rebooted and stuck on boot screen.
Had to power up into recovery, re-wipe and re-flash the rom only..
I agree it is TWRP...but the question was asked if TWRP worked...

TWRP failing has nothing to do with the ROM, if it's unstable then it's unstable. Until now I haven't seen or heard of twrp crashing, so saying it works with twrp is correct, it does, it crashing isn't related to it getting along with the ROM.
If you're still wanting to say the ROM causes twrp to crash then recreate it and pull the log from /cache/recovery/last_log and see what it says caused it, Rom or not, if it knows what happened. It may have just been a fluke.

I was afraid of that. I heard a lot of things about TWRP on the Acer tablets not getting along with Aroma, unless really old versions of TWRP were used (Like 2.1 or something)

For what it's worth, I re-flashed Aroma (with your v1.3 rom running) and it worked...I will now go back and re-flash both together as I originally did and see what happens. I don't really need Aroma, but it is nice..
It's funny because CWM seems to work well on the Acer tablets, and TWRP is sketchy, and on my TF300, CWM is sketch and TWRP is perfect

Hi all,
I have problem with Android Revolution HD by mike1986 ROM. Everything working well expect restarting. If I restarted, phone didnt start rom but only clockworkmod and only one way how to correctly start phone is connect via cable to computer and over fastboot boot boot.img push boot.img into phone.. And second issue - in clockworkomod I cant make backup - everytime it ends with error message..
Any idea how to fix it? Thanks
I have this exact problem too. I'm ENG S-OFF and ARHD 9.2 installer is fine until the very last step when it goes "assert failed" and something about extracting the boot.img to /tmp/boot.img.
I tried going about it the same way I read before with CyanogenMod where I'd manually flash the boot.img in fastboot to make sure it was flashed properly or I'd just get bootloop into recovery, but it's a no-go. It flashes fine, of course, but it doesn't help one bit. I'll be damned if I'm giving up and moving to CyanogenMod again after going through all the guides and reading page up and page down of things that basically didn't help me.
Does anyone have a solution or an idea why ARHD 9.2 fails when extracting the boot.img to /tmp?
EDIT: Same issue with ARHD 7.3 btw.
EDIT2: I gave up and went to CyanogenMod 10.2. Worked the first time...

Hi, I have same problem, I tryed install 2 custom rom, but device started only to ClockworkMod Recovery ...

just tried installing TWRP recovery..look in here..
I've been using TWRP2 all along. It works very well on my HTC One and Nexus 7 both. I gave it another try today, but it's still a no-go. I think I've tried most every combination of things now. No matter. I'm giving the nightly CM11 a try now. :fingers-crossed:
Aha! Turns out I had a faulty SD-card. I could write to it and all, but I couldn't delete any files off it. No format worked. Nothing. It couldn't readily be identified, but at least I found the cause and now it's working perfectly. Smooth and fast. Very, very nice. :good: I'm a happy camper.
Hey guys,so heres the problem...recently i had to use the LG Support Tool and prior to this i was v50020d. When the tool had finished restoring the stock ROM,it upgraded me to v50020f. So i went and successfully rooted it with KingoRoot surprisingly enough with no trouble at all. I then tried to install TWRP Recovery, through the TWRP app,Flashify,Rashr and i even tried Fastboot and ADB which im led to believe don't work with the v500 but i still tried it and had absolutely no success at all in installing TWRP. I have tried flashing every version of TWRP from 2.8.7.1 back to 2.6.3.0 i think using all those apps mentioned above. So i came on here to XDA to see could i find any solution to my problem but no luck either but i did find a post where a script was used, edited and apparently worked. I downloaded the zip file that was used in this process, edited the runme.bat file by changing the last letter of the build to f which would correspond to my build which is v50020f. I saved the edited file and then ran the script which when finished told me that recovery had been installed so i rebooted the G Pad,it started up,the blue teamwin screen came up and then it just hung there for hours! Thats was it nothing more. No recovery installed. So then i went and used Flashify & flashed `twrp-2.8.7.1-v500.img´ and when i rebooted i got 'secure booting error, cause:device unlock:so boot success!!' rebooted the G Pad again and the same thing happened blue teamwun screen loads and then nothing,no recovery. So i flashed the same recovery image with TWRP Recovery app and when it was finished i got the message 'Success!! Flashing recovery was successful, would you like to attempt rebooting into recovery? so i did and again the same thing happened. Teamwin blue screen and nothing more. When i check TWRP Recovery app afterwards it tells me that there is no recovery installed or it us not recognised. Can anybody please, please, please find a solution to my problem? Oh yeah,i even tried booting into recovey by using the power and volume up and down trick too and got the same result. Thank you so much guys...hope you can help.
I think I've seen that in order to install TWRP on the V500 is similar to how on my VK810 variant, at least the part that requires downgrading your bootloader. If it's like the VK810, it has to be the bootloader from 4.2.2. I'm sure there's TWRP threads in these sections, specifically for the V500 that give the details and files.
I'd love to know a way too. I just rooted which went great, but I have the V50020f and don't want to do another thing until I see what happens in this thread. After years of flashing and rooting I finally hard bricked my Lenovo Yoga 10 and this is my replacement tablet, so I don't want to chance it at all. Until I read a concrete solution for this build I'm staying where I am.
That wall of text is really hard to read @[email protected]!c, when I first saw it I was too tired to try and decipher it so ignored it. Now I've had another look.
Have you tried downgrading to an older firmware which people have had success with?
I had trouble when I first got this tablet but kept reading the forum and found a method to downgrade, it isn't pretty but eventually it worked. As I'm new to this device I'm not overly familiar with the different official firmware versions so I'm not exactly sure what you've got.
My tablet was more complicated as the LG tool put the Chinese, no Google apps, version on for me as that is where it was bought. So I had to downgrade so I could get apps from the Play Store to flash my recovery!
So patience and research will reward you.

Hi!! I'm in the same boat! Any chance you were able to work out a solution? Thanks so much for any help!!
I know it didn't work for the OP, but coming from bone stock v50020f, I successfully rooted using ioroot25r1, updated Supersu through playstore, then using flashify i installed TWRP 2.8.7.1 (newest I think). Once booted into TWRP recovery, I wiped cache, data, and system, and then installed AOSP Marshmallow. All went smooth as silk, no problems at all. Now I can finally stop being jealous of my wifes Nexus 7!! Hope this helps some.

i have just used twrp manager apk from playstore (similar to flashify) to get TWRP 2.8.7.1 on stock v50020f, rooted using ioroot25r1 on a mac, with updated Supersu through playstore. just had to run the apk twice as it failed first time, and have booted into twrp recovery.
Had the same problem with the recovery but worked by rooting and flashing recovery with flashify.
