Google play - HTC One V

I lost Google play on my one v and upon checking the system apps i no longer see the odex phonesky.odex file. Can I just download any rom and grab the odex file from that rom to make it work? what permission do i set it?
any other way to fix this?
thanks
btw can anyone upload the odex file i cant seem to find any downloadable one

Are you rooted?
What rom are you running?

Just install the apk as normal app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933277
restoring an odex will not help as the play store most probably updated itself to newer version when you use it.

Thanks. I was struggling with all the apk that I downloaded and wont work with the normal package installer. What I did was copy and paste using root explorer, set proper permission then integrate it to rom using titanium backup and rebooted and i worked.

Deleting apps

When deleting a app in a rom do I delete both the apk and odex? Also on this fourm I remember reading what was safe to get rid of but can't find it now. Found the thread for whats safe to delete

search "barebones" and you can leave the odex file but it doesn't do anything but take up space unless there is an apk to call to it

Thank you I have been using the CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA Full ROM. What I did was just rip app files out of the zip. I ripped too many lol It installed just fine all the apps worked but when I went to download from the market it wouldn't install. Got the installation unsuccessful. Now I will rip one app out at a time and install the rom.

[Rooted] Unable to install Google Play Store

Hi,
I recently rooted my HTC One X (China version) and I've tried almost everything to try and get Google Play Store to work.
I've installed droidvpn, marketenabler and used them together only to find that my google play store doesn't even open.
I've tried to push the apk to the system/apps folder using root explorer but I keep getting a parsing error after trying to install it.
However, I noticed that whenever I install the apk, there isn't a .odex file.
On a side note, I would prefer to keep my phone stock in terms of ROMS but am willing to try out a ROM if it means I get access to the play store.
Thank you
Did u flash the gapps

I Did Something Dumb To Google Play...

I'll try to make this as quick as possible, with the Cola ROM the Google Play store is actually the old Market.
Which is fine but I wanted to upgrade to Google Play, so out of stupidity I went into titanium back up and deleted 2 files, something like marketupdater2.2.0 and something like market 1.0
now I went online and downloaded the newest version of google play but my concern is will google play update by itself now that I deleted marketupdater.2.2.0? This is probably a total noob question but did deleting the market oriented files harm my phone? Like am i missing a feature or the ability for google play to update?
-Thanks
It won't update. Here's what you can do.
-Download the whole rom zip file (don't need to flash)
-Extract the apk you've deleted
-Paste it in system/app
-Change permission
Done.

I actually went as far as to do a nandroid back up, everything was working fine until I installed DroidSail App2SD and moved some of my apps to the SD card, once i moved like my 1st or 2nd app to the SD card I got that message, also whenever I go to download something after it installs I get the message and it force closes on me...??
U can try fixing permission and zip align ur apk first by using v6supercharger script..

[Q] Google talk wont load on Mildwild ROM

I have installed the MildWild ROM on my old Desire (which my partner uses). This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453287
I have tried installing the Google Talk app from that page plus also other apk versions from various places but none seem to work. They either fail to install or force close when started. All other apps are fine and the ROM is quite good, stable and quick.
Can anyone help with a fix please. Or link to a guaranteed gtalk apk.
Cheers

are you flashing the zips in recovery? Try downloading the zip from the page, extract it and take the apk out of it. Then using a root explorer, move the apk into /system/app and change the permissions to rw-r-r

No, I was just doing a normal apk install, I didn't realise it was a system app. I will try this when I can.
Thanks very much. :good:

[Q] HyperDoidAOXP_Rev1.10 youtube update

I'm loving this rom, very smooth and stable.
However I'd like to update my youtube to the newest version, but i get the error that the package is not signed correctly and ask to remove the previous version
There are no option to remove youtube, but disable instead.
Is there a way to update?

You can try to install the apk file (HERE)
Or you can uninstall Youtube with a root uninstaller or with Titanium Backup then you install the apk file or download from Play Store.
Just after posting this question, I did one more search on the forum and most of treads orients to remove the youtube.apk
As my note 2 is rooted, I deleted the apk from /system/app. After that I tried to install from google play and got an different error.
So I restarted the device and then It could be installed from google play.
So I had no chance to test your link. But thank you anyway.
If someone is facing the same problem I was, try downloading the apk Primokorn posted and tell us your results.
