Hello guys I saw the "porting" of the O.S ChromeOS on Nexus 7, it will be possible to have it and try it on galaxy nexus?
Translated from Italian with Google Translate
I'm 100% sure it's possible. People have put Windows on this thing.
I also completely understand why someone might want it on a tablet. But on a phone?... Why? You'd lose the functionality of the, well, phone part of it. That seems like a slightly crippling side effect to me.
Anything is possible.
Windows on the gnex? even if that is true, what a waste.

and besides, we already have the best OS in the world
I think AOSP is the greatest but anything else I can stick on here just for fun is, at the worst, an interesting diversion.

Wouldn't hurt to have more OS/UIs on the Nexus ya know. This is a developer phone after all.

Windows as in like a VM of Windows XP or 98, right? I could do that on the Droid X, neat but useless.

I've been there and its so.. all over the place... I've just rooted my phone yesterday so I'm still kind of a noob. I mean I know what I'm doing just can't be too sure. Is there a dedicated forum where it lists all the themes compatible with AOSP?

If your ROM allows it there should be an option in the navigation bar settings. I believe AOKP and a couple CM10 variants allow it.

You can do it without a ROM.
And a simple Google search will give u instructions.

Looks much more involved than just switching to a ROM that supports it. Just saying.
It's actually kinda simple.

Usually descriptions can put one off as it looks like there's much to do but when you have done the stuff one time you basically can do it pretty quickly when you know what to do.
To be fair, I didn't read it all just saw a great deal of computer instructions and stopped.

I read the steps and still stand by my assertion.
I don't think that it was too hard or that the steps are not laid out in clear and concise fashion. I just think that it was a great deal harder than picking from a drop down menu in Settings.

I do appreciate people, like yourself, who take time to write step by step instructions. These kind of walk-throughs are great resources and are as valuable to the Android community as the ROMS we are flashing.
I would still be using stock Web-OS on my Touchpad and waiting on Verizon for updates if not for people like you. :good:

Just want to try different OS in my device, don't want to waste money to buy wp8 yet.
But why HTC HD2 can install android and then can install wp 7 and even wp8? anyone have the answers? anyway, Thanks for comments.
I was going to make a smartass comment, but I couldn't think of anything. So no. You can't.

Who gives a ****, poster 1 answered OP's question, that's the end of it.
And half of you know you'd install WP8 on your GalNex if you could, if only because you could, so don't give him the "what are you, retarded?" ****. I think he knows he can buy a phone with Windows on it.

nothing to see here, move along
Instead of posting stupid answers, isn't it better not to answer at all? The guy wanted to know if it was just possible. After all the HD2 did it well so whynot the GNex? The fist poster answered back and was quite precise (more or less, I don't know) but I think the following posts are useless.
Download launcher 8 from the play store. Closest thing I've found if you want something similar. With a little work you can actually make it look really similar to wp8. There's some nice mms and phone apps you can find as well with a little searching.
If it is possible he asked... I don't mind running wp8 on my gnex either. I use windows 8 and Linux on PC. Just want to play a lil bit.

They probably had it to do a review or were given it. It's not out for the general population yet.
In other words, you can't.

http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/25/canonical-richard-collins-interview/
The article says that even Engadget could not get the Ubuntu Phone OS yet. Canonical declined to give them an early version. The article and video show that Canonical people were present during the hands-on test and the phone being used was Canonical's, not Engadget's.
End of February is when Canonical is releasing Ubuntu Phone OS to developers. Its unclear how they are going to release it though. Its possible that it wont just be a file to flash and there you have it. It may just be all the tools to develop for Ubuntu Phone OS and it will be up to the Galaxy Nexus developers to build and make it available for us. Who knows at this point. It could also be the very first version of Ubuntu Phone OS that you need to install through your computer like flashing an image with a toolkit. Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
So to the OP, it is not available yet and even though they say "end of February", that possibly means available for developers and not just anyone.

If you're not going to post anything constructive and stay respectful then it's probably a good idea that you don't post anything at all. Many OS' have been ported to different devices so bashing others for suggesting it is just asinine.

Porting a closed source OS? That would be a waste of time.
