[Q] UOT kitchen questions - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just created a change in the status bar, fancied some different colour icons and the circle battery. So I used UOT kitchen.
I am running ARHD 7.0.4 and have rctweak v4 flashed.
Anyway, I created the mods in the kitchen I wished to use, uploaded the three files required from the rom.
I have since flashed the cooked zip, unfortunately the lockscreen has not changed (I selected Cyanogen), the status bar icons are still default white. In fact the only thing that changed is the battery icon which is now a circular battery icon as requested.
Is this normal?

In the uot kitchen you only needed two files from the rom
1. The framework file in the framework folder
2. systemUI in the app folder was all you needed to upload.
Thats probably where you are running into your issues you added to many files to the uot.

Try wiping cache and dalvik before flashing the zip.
Also you uploaded the right amount of files so I wouldn't worry there. It needs three for sense roms and two for aosp. It would only matter if you have a sense Rom and didn't upload the HTC framework. Sometimes too UOT doesn't know what to do with a certain file, especially on sense, because the layout of the file is different on newer versions. You could see if they have the version of Arhd on the droplist of specific roms instead of uploading the files by yourself.

I think the issue is with having RCtweak v4 installed. I'm guessing this changes the framework file and possibly SystemUI during flashing? Perhaps RCtweaks and the UOT changes don't play nicely?

Carefully select right folders for your rom in UOT Kitchen -> File upload -> Flashing folders for system files
Good luck!

Ok, now running ARHD 6.3, having the same problem.
Created the mods I wanted to use, uploaded the three files needed and then grabbed my cooked zip from the kitchen.
Flashed this but only the battery has changed. I requested the status bar icons be changed too and did select an icon package (g15 androidian), but these did not change.
I have cleared the cache and reflashed the kitchen zip but the same result.
I also checked the kitchen listing, this rom is not in there so I have no option but upload the framework, ui and htc framework file.

[Theme] Cyano-Blue for CM5-DS [Metamorph]

** Updated to v1.1 **
I've put together a basic Metamorph theme to add blue to the standard Android look. It should work with all current versions of CM5.0.7-DS as it does not touch critical framework files such as services.jar.
I have also themed the ADW.Launcher to match Cyano-Blue which can be downloaded and flashed through recovery.
Some changes:
- status bar
- status bar icons
- most original orange highlights changed to blue
- spinners
- battery monitor
- notification background
Cyano-Blue v1.1 for stock CM5-DS (install using Metamorph):
sd_Cyano-Blue-v1.1-CM5-DS_stock.zip
Cyano-Blue themed ADW.Launcher for CM5-DS (flash through recovery):
sd_Cyano-Blue_v1.1-ADW.L.0.7rc1.zip
Instructions:
1) Nandroid Backup
2) Install Metamorph theme file on stock CM5-DS
3) Flash themed ADW.Launcher through recovery *optional*
The first 3 screenshots show Cyano-Blue v1.1 on stock CM5-DS. The last 3 screenshots show CM5-DS running with themed ADW.Launcher
Thanks,
Wondering if this theme is generic and also working on the vanillaeclair ROM and ADW launcher?
Like your modifications.
I've built this around CM5-DS. I'm not sure if it'll work on vanillaeclair. It should if the framework for it and CM5-DS are the same. If the framework for vanillaeclair is similar to Donut ROMs then it won't work.
Is there any way you could remover the notification bar background? I love the rest of it but the background is a little too much=p
Or just tell me what files to change in the framework-res.apk...
In framework status_bar_header_background.9.png is for the background where the carrier is listed in notification area. status_bar_background.png is for the empy space in notification and statusbar_background.9.png is the top status bar.
its working finally
but i prefer stock notification bar... :>
nothing - please delete this post, i'm an Idiot
I should be releasing a v1.1 soon. Just waiting to see what @anderwebs is doing with his ADW.Launcher. I'm thinking of making a metamorph version for stock CM5-DS with a themed ADW.Launcher flashable through recovery rather than two different metamorphs.
Here's a few screen caps.
thats great idea!
im waiting
but could U make a version, with stock notification bar ? :>
Cyano-Blue now updated to v1.1.
Some people have requested the stock top status bar. Here is a metamorph file to restore only that after installing Cyano-Blue theme.
stock_CM5-DS_statusbar.zip
how apply this one ? via MM ?
cuz in recovery is verification failed... (no signature).
EDIT:
in MM app cant apply framework-res, which takes forever... -,-'
could U make this theme to apply via recovery, like last one ?
The theme file for the stock CM5-DS is a metamorph file and cannot be flashed through recovery. The reason I use metamorph is because it can be installed on any version of CM5-DS. If I build a recovery flashable version then I have to build one for each new version of CM5-DS and that's a lot of work since there has been a lot of test versions lately.
It can take a while to install framework-res through metamorph as it's replacing almost 400 files. I have done a lot of testing with metamorph and CM5-DS-test7 on my Dream without problems.
If others have problems installing the theme I might make a recovery flashable version once CM5-DS goes stable.
so today just came out the stable version of CM5.0.7 -> http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index....magic-mean-lean-pastry-machine-v507-05252010/
could u make now this theme for recovery (and stock status bar :>)
tnx lov u
I'll see what I can do. It might not be until sometime over the weekend as I'm short on time this week.
that's fine
i'm just happy U'll do it
hey how's Ur work for this recovery flashable theme ? :>
hey dm-digital, what weather widget are you using on those screenshots? can you give a link to the apk?
Can this be used for cyanogen 5.0.8?

framework-res.apk swap?

Should I be able to take the framework-res.apk from one ROM and put it in to another ROM and then flash the entire ROM? Because I just pulled one from an Azrael ROM and put it in to an EViO ROM and flashed it and I still had all the same notification bar icons, etc.
Not a good idea. Check out the theme forum to learn how to theme. There is a lot of good stuff in there. And the notification bar icons are usually stored in the individual apk's, not the framework.
In a sense ROM, a lot of the icons are in the com.htc.resources.apk instead of the framework-res.apk. That should get you there, everything should be fine as long as both the transplant ROM's have the same base.
Hey... This thing makes phone calls too!
You have to wipe your dalvik anytime you change something like that

[Q] Please help, UOT Kitchen battery mod + MIUI Theme

I flashed MIUI, then applied the theme I wanted, Elite Pro HD. I wanted the SCB battery mod as well, so booted into recovery and flashed the one I made of only the battery mod, however after uploading the framework-res.apk file in the kitchen it removed practically all themeing in MIUI after reboot. After I do that, it will not allow me apply any new themes. Some icons change but nothing else, the dock icons, fonts etc all stay stock MIUI and I can't figure out why so any help would be much appreciated. Would love to be able to somehow implement the SCB mod into the theme or just make them work together.
it sounds to me like you will have to learn how to make custom frameworks if you want it all working together.
my suggestions:-
choose whatever battery you want on UOT - make it for any rom, doesnt matter you only need the files.
decompile the UOT framework - take the .png's for the battery and .xmls that control them
decompile your already custom framework - copy .xml's and .png's from the UOT framework over to it.
compile framework, add it to an update.zip and sign that.
you might want to search xda if you dont know how to do any of the above, all the info is available here
EDIT: looking at that theme it already has a percentage battery, if the .xmls are the same as UOT you could just replace the .png's in the original update and re-sign

U should cook framework-res.apk from the theme's zip.

How do I change my notif bar?

Hi I'm on a 2.1 Sense rom and I was just wondering how do I change the notif bar's battery and background?
I tried just changing the icons in the framework-res apk in the drawable-mdpi folder
then I just saved it and pushed it and replaced the original framework but that just put me on an endless repeat of booting so I came back to 2.1 sense so .. How do I change it ?
I'm trying to change it like A motoblur theme
If I can't do it no Sense UI please tell me how to get it working on either GB or froyo?
I'm on the new radio btw
cm6.1 well you can go into cyanogen setting under ui than extras there is some different ones to pick you can use a theme you can flash a custom one its all on you or your rom
i suggest a theme poke around the forums for one
you can find a metamorph theme for your phone. and you just apply the notification bar with metamorph app

[Q] ediing SystemUI.apk

I am using a T989 4.0.3 UVLE1 rooted, otherwise stock. **DEodexed (added .bak to systemUI.odex) and 14togglesBlue.zip MOD added
When i extract the SystemUI.apk in Root Browser i find resources/assests (images in .png format) relating to the battery, wifi/mobile data, and signal bar icons for the status bar. The stock look is a green motif/theme for the battery and gray for the other icons, but included in the files are ICS blue colored icons that i have yet to see in my status bar, these .png files are named slightly different or are in a folder that is named slightly different.
If i wanted to use the ICS Blue styled icons, which i do, would it be as easy as replacing the green icons with the blue ones and renaming them?
Root browser allows me to extract SystemUI.apk so i can manipulate the files, ie rename and copy them, then when i am finished it only allows me to .zip SystemUI.apk
Is the .zip file created "flashable"? Is there a stndard/correct way of doing this?
Thank you.

Okay this is totally wrong.... lol
In order to edit any apk you need 7zip and apk manager or apk tool. And you need to properly deodex your system. Simply renaming systemui.odex to .bak will not "deodex" your ROM. I dont remember how to deodex anymore cause i dont run ROMs odexed. There are numerous threads explaining how to deodex so use search and google my friend
But you are on the right track. you could simply rename the .png files. But you have to rename them to exactly the same name as the ones which are being displayed currently. Or you could edit the status_bar.xml file and target the new .png files which is a bit more difficult but cleaner. Cause if you rename the new png files, you have to either delete or rename the old png files. Which i recommend the later.
Then you need to recompile the systemUI.apk with apk manager or apk tool (whichever you decide to use) google them both to get a better understanding of them. I dont wanna just "tell" you what exactly to do because i had to google everything myself, and in my googling i learned a lot more than what i wanted which made everything so much easier to do.
Also, when you recompile the apk, do not sign the apk. You could zip align the apk which i do to all my mods to ensure they are correct.
Hope this helped and good luck! If you need help just PM me or post in the thread. I respond to PMs quicker though. But have fun
So i used a MOD created by jim93 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616189) to edit a systemUI.apk to add ICS style blue battery, blue WiFi status with blue/white upstream/downstream symbols, and blue Signal bars. All while maintaning the toggles and quick panal settings.
Now i would like to:
1. ICS Blue Clock + Remove AM/PM
2. Obtain a better battery icon with percentage inside battery
3. Transparent Notification window
4. Activate 180 degree rotation
I would like to make these adjustment on stock 4.0.3 UVLE1 software
I cant find a custom ROM that doesnt compromise on at least 1 basic feature, also very bad experinces with ROMs in the past. For me the Stock system is very stable and EVERYTHING WORKS
Can someone please help me locate the Files needed to edit these items, or at least let me know if any of my goals are completely impossible
Any advice or information is greatly appreciated
THANKS XDA!
if anyone would like my modded file (.zip) i can gmail it to you, really i only replaced .png (image files) no big deal

I have done most of these edits that you would like to try and I will tell you this if you search google with the information you need you will find tutorials on everything you are asking for. This is what I did and how I learned these fun tasks. Everything you want to do especially in ICS can be accomplished. Also check out a site called UOT Kitchen, it may save you on a step or two. Although learning how to do it is still quite educational as well.
over it
Of course i googled these topics, i google things ALL the time lol I've also used this site as a resource for over a year, tried all the apk modification tools suggested to no avail. Not understanding the instructions given here and being a tech/computer savvy person has made me very upset. This has caused me allot of stress and loss of sleep, Gave up returned my phone to factory settings goodnight
Thanks?
