totally blown away by my desire, although, I still need to tick one more box.
I use my calendar a lot and utilise the busy/free option on windows mobile to mark entries as done. this functionality exists on google calendar but not on the android calendar.
can anyone offer any advice or suggest an alternative calendar that provides this ?

Try pure calendar grid. I use that. Maybe email the developer first. He gets back in good time.
thanks, given that a go but its just a widget that links into the existing calendar.
any other ideas ?

But it links to google calander.
yep, not disputing that. just need this one bit of functionality.
thought it would be widely used in android as its a standard part of google calendar itself.
just can't find the ability to use it on any apps.

Give the guy an email, maybe he can help.
I too have the same issue. I sync with Exchange via Activesync and it doesn't honour the free/busy option.
I use Vibrate During Meetings (VDM) which sets your phone onto vibrate during meetings. This has an option to only do this for appointments marked as "busy", but since the Desire calendar doesn't honour this setting it's no good to me.
I am on call for a week at a time, so put an appointment in my calendar for on call which is marked in Exchange as free. Unfortunately since the free setting doesn't propagate to the phone (by either HTC Sync or Activesync) the phone puts itself on vibrate for a week at a time.
I'd be interested in a solution if anyone finds one.
agreed.
can't believe that this functionality hasn't been considered in the android calendars.
this is probably not an issue to a lot of people but its key to my phone usage, especially after coming from winmob where this had been standard for years.

Had my HTC Desire for around 6 months now always wanted to root it but never had a real need for it, Then last night i thought sod it go for it rooted it with unrevoked would't work through windows but worked 1st time on linux
Im now running the latest oxygen rom it's alot quicker and better on battery life. Only problem is that i know to is facebook does not push notification it only picks them up when i manually run the app, is this normal for this rom? does it auto kill processes to keep speed up and battery usage down?
I have also updated the radio to 32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17
never seems to drop below 3g at the moment (only tested for a few hours) i get HSDPA 80% of the time were i live
Speed Test Results
557kbps Download
333kbps Upload
alot better then before were i got around 240kbps down and 190-220kbps upload
Grate forum you have here don't think it would have been possible to root my Desire without it, So many thanks to all the developers and forum users
PS Brought the XDA Premium App
AFAIK there are no push notifications in the FB app.
Also ensure that you have "WIFI" always on ticked to ensure wifi doesn't go to sleep.
Yep, as said I've never seen any push notifications on the Desire in any version of Android. I'm running the MoDaCo 2.3.3 (GRI54) ROM and still don't get any
Sorry I think I have put it wrong I mean I get no notifications from the Facebook app twitter app is ok though

Read above...
Facebook app has no notifications on android. You only get notified once you open it. Not sure about FB chat though...
I got them before is that because I was running HTC sense also in Facebook app its got refresh times bit confused lol

HTC Sense will give Facebook notifications, but Oxygen, or any other AOSP ROM will not, as it is not 'part' of the OS.
The refresh setting in the Facebook app refers to how often it will update the feed. You can still be notified of Facebook messages, wall posts, etc., through Gmail.
O right that's cool just didn't know if I had a problem that was all

Actually out of every ROM I tried of Cyanogen n Villain, i dont seem to get the push feature for facebook on my phone. Though the origional app doesnt show that it supports it but on the market, in the recent changes of the app they have included push. I have the latest facebook app update installed.
In the settings, refresh interval matters. I tried on Cyanogen Mod 6.0 , 6.1. and even 7.0
But on my friend's nexus one, no matter what we set the interval, it gives him push notifications, even of wallposts. He told me that I should be getting them too but idk why Im not getting them, he even gets push for twitter, says my ROMs G2 should do that as he is using the same ROM on his nexus one. Why the hell he can get it and I cant even though they say its a feature on it
Please help me with this

Have you got Background Data enabled? I only get push notifications from the Facebook app with it enabled.

Just because the Market says there's push doesn't mean it works for all devices; I have push set up but pretty rarely get them in a timly fashion. I've tried contacting the devs but their email address is fake, instead I opted to give them a crap rating and post my issues in the Market. Eventually, they may fix things

Is anyone else having issues with the Facebook app? It extends to every Facebook related application including Friendcaster as well as sharing to Facebook from Instagram.
The issue is one of the inability to access any Facebook information while using my data connection. If I switch to wifi it works flawlessly.
Any Ideas?
Yep having the same problem...glad to see its not just me

I'm running AOKP build 40. Aerovans 10.5 kernel. Confirmed not working on the FB app and BARELY working on mobile web.

Also, I've noticed that if I don't kill the FB app it ends up sucking up 75MB of RAM and hogs the CPU

I'm running Aeroevan's cm9 with the v10 kernal. It happens with sense roms as well... I have got seesmic to work properly over 3g but i had to turn on wifi to get it to connect to Facebook initially.

Same here. CM9 aero v10.
Using Stream, it's very slow if it does work at all.
Seems to work ok through wifi though.
I thought it was just me also. lol
I would love to see one of our devs jump on this and fix the damn app in minutes lol

Glad it's not just me having issues, I've tried every rom I got to get the fb app to load, if I'm on 3g ill get a few kb of data to transfer, then nothing I gave up and am using friendcaster, it's running as of now

I'm having the same issue on both my DINC2 and my Nook Color. Not having the issue on my Original DINC. The Facebook app will login and I can upload photos/comment on photos/comment on statuses, but I can't update my own status or post on someone's wall. It says "Unfortunately, Facebook has stopped" anytime I try to update my status. Very frustrating.
I can't login to Spotify, Foursquare, Instagram, or any other app that is linked to my account. I can't even login on Friendcaster. It just sticks in a login loop. On my Nook I'm able to login to Draw Something but that's it. (I know this is the DINC2 forum, I just wanted to throw that in there...)
I don't know how to tell the kernel version. Here is my phone info.
Kernel Version

It has to be the Facebook mobile site servers because if you request desktop site it's fast. Facebook app has even gone to **** on my iPod touch

It's not a matter of being slow, though. Unless I am on wifi I cannot access it at all... also, apps that require permissions from Facebook (ie. Instagram, foursquare etc) won't be able to access Facebook to get the proper permissions unless I am on wifi.

OK so I'm guessing its either the ****ty FB servers or our custom roms.....I'm thinking its the FB servers
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
Its not the ROM's - definitely a Facebook issue.
I am pretty sure they are trying to figure out a way to serve mobile ads thru the server similar to the desktop. It cant be a server issue, its Facebook - lol.
They can more than afford and service high quality servers.
I dont use the app on my phone (or my tablet) anymore cause it took up a lot of space even while 'dormant'. I found three processes running at one time.

Oddly, I found a Rom that the Facebook app works on. Andybones stock Rom works flawlessly.

Possible solution. Go to your security settings in facebook on a computer, Remove all of your recognized devices, clear data on the facebook app. Log back in. FB on 3g is working for me right now. We'll see.

I quit using the official fb app awhile ago, but recently I installed it again and I changed the permission to user r/w, and executable in rom toolbox and It's been about 6hrs now and it seems like it's running fine, probably got figured out on fb side and what I did probably meant nothing but figure I'd share anyway

Is there an option in cm9 to turn off the account and sync as there is in cm7 and tw? The one that actually tells u that your saving battery by turning it off and the market won't work unless its enabled? Cuz I see that the market always updates as soon as I connect my internet so I'm thinking if there was a way to disable the sync then I would save a little more battery when I'm using the internet correct? So I see there is not actual setting for this since the account and sync being "off" doesn't have the same effect as it did in other roms. So would freezing the market and market updater be the same as turning off the account and sync that I'm looking for?

So the market not breaking doesn't waste a little battery everytime I connect to the internet because the market checks for updates? Is there a way to stop the market from checking for updates so that I can save a tiny bit more battery?

Okay so after going back to a tw ROM I've realized that I was a little misleading in what I actually wanted.
I don't want to disable accounts & sync, because that is the option that is found in cm9 already. What I meant was background data. Is there a way to turn off background data so that apps don't sync or do whatever they do and waste battery?
