Just got my Note 2 (N7100) two weeks back. And i kind of found a bug in the phone. Every time i try to turn on my data connection after a LONG USE of Wi-fi... It doesn't work! I have to restart the phone in order to switch the data connection back on. Anyone here having this problem?
Every phone might have this problem.including my nexus. Get the app signal refresh from market.

Hi everyone, I received the Galaxy Nexus last night from Google Play. Out of the box, I was able to connect to the network (make calls, send texts, etc.). I was charging my phone at night and then I realized that I was no longer connected to the T-Mobile network. The triangle is empty now and I can't do anything on the network anymore. I ran the Jelly Bean 4.1 OS upgrade as soon as we took the phone out of the box. I checked the APN settings and I noticed that it was completely blank but I was unable to successfully add a new one. I can try to create a new one and input all the settings but it doesn't seem like it was saved.
I just took it up with T-Mobile and told them to update my line to this phone, and they assured me that it would work in 2 hours, but I won't be holding my breath. At the same time, I contacted Google and they unfortunately said that they cannot do anything in this case and I would have to take it up with Samsung... I don't really want to do that and I hope that I don't have a faulty device..
Also, I never rooted it and everything is completely stock.
ANY HELP??

I have the same issue on my international one. It has been decided it has a hardware failure. I have no warranty though. I might buy one with a broken screen and swap. You have a warranty use it.

Same issue here. I had the phone for months (stock ROMs) and was perfectly happy. Few days back, connection dropped at random and the only way to fix it was through a reboot. Then, after 2 or 3 days, no connection whatsoever, it doesn't even "find" the sim card, so it seems as it's no longer asking for my sim pin code.
Tried about everything, even wiping and reflashing every stock ROM and radio I could get my hands on (including 4.2.1, 4.1.2 and 4.0.4), to no avail. I'm about to give up and return it to Samsung for repair. We're not the only ones, that for sure...
Hello,
I am running into an issue where I will lose connection after coming off wifi and it seems 4G/3G is not picking up. I must either reboot my phone or toggle airplane mode to regain signal. I've been searching around and I don't think I've found any thread similar...or it's hard for me to pin one down using search terms.
I'm running paranoid 2.16 and lean kernel. Gonna try and flash a radio and see if that helps...but if anybody can point me in the right direction or suggest a few things, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
Lte or gsm version? Apparently the lte version has reception issues in general.
I used to take the subway to work. When coming out of the train, after losing service while underground, I would on rare occasion have no service while above ground in an area where coverage existed.
This bug existed on every Samsung smartphone I've ever owned (sch-r720 admire, t989 Hercules, and yes the i9250). I'm convinced it must be an android bug.

I'm stock (rooted)/GSM and I'm having this issue since 4.1.2. 4.1.1 was very stable for me. Today it lost it's connection completely to T-Mobile twice, where the status was always connecting even though I had 3 or 4 bars. Additionally, airplane mode would not engage (no symbol in menu) and could not be unselected from the power menu. Only way to fix it for me was to reboot the phone.
Additionally, I received a call today and the phone froze. I could interact with it barely, but couldn't switch apps or get out of the completely black phone screen. I had to unlock the phone to even see anything. After I missed the call, which rang for a long time (still no idea who it was - no logs and T-Mobile only lists connected calls), the screen would not come back on and I had to do a battery pull.
I'm about ready to just say F*** it and reinstall 4.1.1 stock back on this thing. I want my old phone back
Additional notes: The phone is encrypted due to my job requirements.
If restoring your backup cures the issues, then its baseband/radio/rom related. If not, the phone is damaged.
I had an sgs2 t989 which one day decided to lose its data connection. It constantly tried to sync and couldn't. Voice and text worked, but it couldn't get data (even edge). Changing roms didnt fix the issue and I had to exchange it in store.

I have this problem too sometimes.. CM10 M1, franco kernel. GSM nexus in Australia
I have a tasker task set up to cycle Airplane mode..
Freaking annoying.. always seems to happen when at the worst times..
I also had this behavior on my old i9020t nexus s to be honest..

Same here. Always worked fine before the firmware upgrade. I found his thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078000 But am yet to try it. Just makes me wonder if the process would have any negative bearing on future updates but i guess i or we don't have much of a choice.

Yes, I try it on my friends home wifi but still same problem. it continuous showing "Obtaining IP Address" but never connect.
I went service center but there are working fine on their Static IP. So the problem is that my note 2 can't detect ip automatically.
Any Help?
I'm experiencing the same problem after recieving an OTA firmware update some 4 days ago. I connected via Kies, and for some reason it found another FW update not available through OTA. This fixed the issue for me until yesterday when the phone crashed for the 2nd or 3rd time, something it's never done until i recieved these updates. Now the issue is back as described by users above.
1. "Obtaning IP address..." for about 1 minute
2. "Network disabled. Poor connection"
Just to eliminate some sources of error:
I'm sitting 5 meters away from my router, no walls in between.
All other devices (2nd phone, laptops and tablets) are working fine on this network.
I've tried connecting to other networks with my Note 2, with the same problem.
Tried to do a restart w/ battery pull.
Any input or leads is welcomed with open arms.
Edit: For some magical reason, the phone connected to my network just now. After turning wifi off/on, the problem returns.
If it is brand new and un rooted and all then return to service center.

Guys I went Samsung Service Center Today with My Friend. Samsung guy check my note 2 and connected on their static ip wifi network and say me that the phone is working fine.
Then i asked my friend to on hotspot on his Galaxy S3 and then i try connect my note 2 on his s3 hotspot and same "Obtaining IP Address" problem. but the samsung guy's Galaxy note connected instantly on my friends s3 hotspot. now Finally Samsung guy understand what i want to say him.
He asked me to leave my note 2 for a day for checking if problem not solved then he will give me written permission to replace it.
Now waiting for tomorrow.
The static IP worked as a temporary fix for me, so this seems related to the DHCP protocol.
Anyway, I've had my Note 2 for some four months without any issues until now, and as the wifi problems surfaced immediately after an OTA firmware update, it shouldn't warrant a complete phone replacement imho... Fingers crossed that Samsung will take responsibility and release another FW update. I've got my phone set up just the way I like it and would hate to have to replace it.

[SOLVED!] Need Help! WiFi is not working on my brand new Galaxy Note 2
Hey Friends!
I Got Replaced my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Yesterday By Samsung. :good:
My new Note 2 have not any problem with WiFi connectivity and never found problem with new Note 2 like "Obtaining IP Address" & "Network disabled. Poor connection"
So Friends If you have same problem then only stable solution is get Replace Your Note 2 From Samsung.
Hi everyone, i had my galaxy S3 about 1year now, and just now i encounter this problem. So everytime i turn on wifi connection the ping goes more than 1000ms, and this is making the internet connection in my home sooo laggy. But when i turn it off (wifi on my S3) the ping goes smooth again just around 6-50ms. About a month ago i had the same problem and it's fixed by hard resetting my S3. But now this problem came again. I wonder if anyone here have the same problem, and have any suggestion how to fix this (not by hard reset/format factory i hope).
Thank you, I look forward for your reply:fingers-crossed:
My phone seems to do this all too often on a daily basis. I check that I have no received emails, tweets, facebook notifications, etc. The problem is my data uplink arrow keeps flashing and it hangs there. This is usually remedied by putting my phone in Airplane mode and switching back it usually works but there have been times when I have empty bars with no data nothing, but it can be fixed by switching mobile network types from WCDA/GSM back to LTE. Anyway this can be fixed, or this actually a Kit Kat issue with the Note 3?
I'm on Stock Kit Kat Unrooted (unfortunately) because I updated before wanting to root and now I don't want to trip KNOX. I have also run a factory reset on my phone (through the bootloader) but it didn't fix the problem.
Is anybody else having this trouble with their Note 3?
I have this issue too. I'm rooted on Darthstalker v6. It happens daily. I just toggle airplane mode on and off and wait ten seconds. I've reinstalled this rom twice and the issue is still there. Hopefully someone can help.
Same issue here! Stock, unrooted. Must be a kit kat issue, I don't remember having it on jelly bean.
Anyone else with the same issue? Chime in

Yup.....been noticing this happen too.....was hoping it was a tower issue soon to be resolved....starting to not sound that way....blah
P.S just started happening (or me noticing it) in the last 2 or so weeks
It's a known bug in android 4.4.2. The new update 4.4.3 has a frequent data connection dropout fix in the change log. Hopefully we get some leak or something for it soon. Now that the s5 is out.

I didn't notice the data drop out until I tried a KitKat rom. When I restored back to the jellybean rom I was using the data drop out continued. So I ended up wiping and flashing the same jellybean rom and still notice the data drop outs.

I have the same issue from the last 4.4.2 update, when the phone is in standby for long time the data connection drop out, or time in time the phone scan the network and some time back to normal after some second or keep scanning and need reboot. when I check the network mode I found all option unselected, I select lte mode and the phone do not respond and have to reboot. I reinstalled 4.4.2 with kie and Odin but same issue . Samsung representative told me that the issue is from T-Mobile , that the phone is ok, and T-Mobile told me that the issue coming with the update from Samsung and affected to note 3 and s4. Who has the fault? my temporal free solution until the next update was replace the sim card in the T-Mobile store. I did yesterday and until now the phone have been ok with the data connection up all time. when it scan the network back to normal with not data drop out.
Last thing, go to wifi - advance option and I put disable (keep wifi on during sleep) and (always allow scanning) maybe these can avoid the scan the network time to time.
