I've been serching for the answer to this question for the last couple days now. Hopefully one of the devs can assist me with this issue.
The status/notification bar on the stock JB ROM is grey in color, I am looking for a way I can change that to black. I know there are apps in the market that can do this but I dont want another app running in the backgroud just to modify the color of my status/notification bar. Can somone please tell me what .png's I need to edit and what xml files (if any)?
Are the files in SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk.....etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Once I have this figured out I'll make a flashable .zip and post it for others to use. Or, if there is another thread that already explains this please let me know.
No reply's? I know somebody can shed some light on this for me. I have done more than enough 'searching' of threads and google. I need some help peeps.

Hi.
I'm going to mod my stock ROM to be as i want, but i need to know which image files i need to edit for making a custom Application-Bar, you know the one to pull up and down on homescreen.
Anyone knows?
status_bar_close_on.9.png is the bar that is dragged down and the permanent one at the top is statusbar_background.png
Already got that one modded with the hero status bar.
Its the one at the bottom with the apps i want to change. Got any idea what these files are called?

I've only done this with cyanogen so not sure whether this is same for all but here goes:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_collape.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_expand.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_pressed.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_selected.png
and the background for the Launcher menu:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable\pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png
if we change the bar to darker colour, surely it will be impossible to read the clock. Could someone confirm?
Thanks

With a little more modding you can change the text color.
Changing the clock colour is a pain as it is in services.jar rather than the framework-res.apk, if anyone has steps to edit the services.jar do let me know
check out the dream section- there is a thread there about how to do it. Not easy.
ive been modding and want to change all the text colors in the notification bar to white to match my gingerbread theme i've been working on and dont really know anything about xml's but i do have a proper editor and btw this is on a motorola citrus running 2.1 but would also like to do this on my friends galaxy prevail and instructions on how to do this right would be nice, i know how to get the xml files and just need help changing them, thanks brad
and i would really appreciate any help
still need help please
I'll keep this short if I can. I am making a theme for DeWizzed, and I am NEARLY done and ready to show it off, but I cannot for the life of me get the clock color to change. I have edited every XML I could think of in the SystemUI.apk AND the framework-res.apk. I thought in Gingerbread it was mearly changing/adding a line in the status_bar.xml inside the SystemUI.apk but that won't do it.
The clock is currently white, and I have managed to change EVERY color in the status bar text currently. I've looked in styles.xml, color.xml, etc. Nothing does it.
If anyone could help I'd GREATLY appreciate it. To give a tiny hint, everyone has been asking for an Orange theme This is 100% from scratch, and I am excited to share once I figure this out.
Thank you guys, been a long time member, and I am now finally posting, because no amount of searching has dug up an answer for me.

Way wrong place for this...
That said i advised building his framework/systemui over again, and changing the clock color before doing his center clock mods... If he has done that and its still not working let me know, and i will jump in and build it to assist...

I was just trying to grab the attention of someone like you and hoping you would just reply here
Thanks for the reply, but as far as what I've done so far that doesn't seem to work...
I've followed this tutorial to the "T" and it doesn't work for me.
http://sites.google.com/site/androidbyyorzua/home/tutorials/become-a-themer
I successfully changed the date color, notification text colors, just the clock color aludes me. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong?? I'm not trying to cernter the clock, just FYI, and I'm on the SGH-I727 with SkyICS by Sean. Even tried the UOT kitchen and it will not work either.
Help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!
Im in the same boat, i spent about four hours tonight doing it over and over and over, and it will just not stick. I dont understand what is going on.
I just found out to make it stick you must put the color string right after the style in the xml, if you put it before the style it won't work
Don't know of gingerbread, but in my froyo it was in /system/framework/services.jar file...so give it a try.
If the systemui is juggs based these its hard coded white to work with the tweaks app i believe.

I am looking for a relatively simple theme for stock ICS, all I want are things like the app circle, (if possible) the google bar at the top, text, and everythingelse possible in ICS Blue/black and if it isn't a pain, have the home screen horizontal scroll bar black with a blue curser like in the app menu. I have tried changing some of the .png files but don't know the location of all the files nor know how to edit .9.png files. It should be easy for anyone with half a brain, maybe time consuming though with all the files to change. If anyone can give me a detailed tutorial (haven't found a really easy-to-follow one yet) or make it for me, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
(This is technically a question, however I think it best fits this section. If this is the wrong section I'll report it to a mod.)
Bump also forgot to add I'm running the newest AOKP (26).
Hello there,
After flashing the Nexus OSBs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395929) and realising I wasn't happy with the middle icon's colour,, I decided to do some research and figure out how to change the icons myselff. After some dabbling, I finally figured out how to do this and I'm happy with it.
However, the background bar for the OSBs is a greyish colour, and not black like the status bar (as you can see in the SS). I was wondering if anyone knows how I can change this? Is it a PNG in SystemUI.apk? I tried to search for it but 'm afraid I couldn't find anything.
Thanks very much
EDIT: For other people with a similar question. I've found the solution! I don't use ADB so I had to reflash the SystemUI.apk but the answer lies in editing an XML file
In SystemUI.apk /res/layout/navigation_bar.XMLyou can change "android:background="xx" to #000000 android:background="#000000"
