Root - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted original kindle fire a year ago. It had fff as recovery. I still have the android stiff installed but su is showing that is not rooted any longer . I installed root checker and it states that the device does not have root privileges. I still have root explorer installed. Can anyone tell me the simplest way to regain super user access. Thank you. Device was rooted jan 5 2012. The software version is 6.3.1.

how do i know if i am rooted?

I just used the Unrevoked to root my phone and after the last step, I am lost...How do I know if my phone is rooted and what do I do next???
Go to market and search for root. Download an app that requires root and if it works you are rooted.

No root acess after installing superuser

So I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514434 and installed superuser and then rebooted my phone. I tried using titanium backup and it says it doesn't have root access. I tried other apps that needed root access and they all said the same. If I have superuser installed, shouldn't I be rooted. What did I do wrong?
You install busy box?

Yeah I did, it says, "BusyBox Installer was not allowed root access!"
Try using the stickied (sticky'd?) root guide. It has version 3.0.5 of superuser. I had to use this version and then update via the superuser app.
Wipe cache and dalvik and then flash su

I would just Odin the stock ROM and start all over at this point if I was you. You may have trashed up the system at this point trying to do other stuff.

Alright I figured out my problem. The posted superuser zip was for android 1.6 devices. I found the correct zip and root works. Thanks guys!

Flash another rooting zip. Search for Universal Root. Or root using the Update.zip provided in the sticky. But unroot first.
Try this - root via cwm http://db.tt/I8oMJQRA
For unrooting - http://db.tt/UWiLeTen

Reflash your ROM.
this method works on me..
Unroot > turn phone on, wait till boot complete > reboot to recovery (stock) > root again
Mine did that not long ago. I downloaded SuperSU from the Play Store and used that for while

this worked for me.. install superuser app from google play, now open supersu app, it will ask for root access again ,grant root access and your binaries will be updated and it will work. after that uninstall superuser.

use superoneclick, btw, cm10 comes pre-rooted I guess?! maybe theres something corrupt..
you should have installed CWM after you rooted already.

i got same problem.. did you solved it?
It should be already rooted... BTW!?
Ηι, someone was able to do it and how?
I have the same problem, actually this is the 2nd time.
I installed clockwork recovery, flashed cm9, it wasn't rooted.. Tinkered around and it worked. I remember it being fairly simple and therefore I took little notice of what I did.
After screwing my phone up I flashed again.. Now no su access, no root access.. And i cant seem to surpass it. Clockwork works fine, and superoneclick does not
Flashed rom and su patch from maclaw..
If anyone could shed light id be very grateful.

If I remember correctly, cm9 had an option to enable disable root access for apps and adb. Have you checked if you have the right options enabled in the settings ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I've tried root apps only and root apps + adb
Also tried disabling root and applying su patch.. Nothing! It sucks cos I hate bloatware. Cm10 was rooted using the dev options in settings, but the rom was too unstable for me

Try following these steps. Might work
1. Flash Stock ROM back.
2. Root the phone.
3. Install Clockwork MOD
4. Then install CM9 RC2 by maclaw
5. After that, install the patch through CWM
These steps worked for me.
It worked for me! Yaay su permission has never felt better
Thank you!

Pls explain what do you mean "no CWM anymore"?
Do you see the stock recovery?
You still could flash CWM or TWRP (another recovery, my favorite I'd say) from ODIN. You need a PC with Windows XP/7/8 and Samsung USB drivers installed to do it. Instructions are available in Q&A.
I initially had cwm installed and my root was working fine.
After I got the 4.3 update via CyanogenMod I updated my phone.
It went well. But I realized that i had lost my root options so whenever I opened super su it said that there's no binary installed and that I'll have to re root again.
So I was like maybe I should just root it again with the method I used first too root my phone ( when it was running on stock ). So I used the same Odin and rooted it. Although it said it was successful the root was still unavailable.
Well I lost interest in that and I got a another update from cm and when I tried to install it I couldnt. My cwm had gone. I tried re installing it with ROM manager but it wouldn't work... I don't know what to do.
