***OFFICIAL Jelly Bean General Discussion Thread***

Mod Edit - This is the Official Jelly Bean discussion thread. All others will be closed.
I am making this thread for the general discussion/speculation of 4.1 Jelly Bean for our device, whether it be official or a WIP custom Rom. Just a thread for some general Q&A or peoples' thoughts on how to get Jelly Bean on our device or maybe news of when, if ever, it will be officially on our device. Just hoping that this will stop people making whole threads for one question and keep all of the news for Jelly Bean for our device in one simple thread.

Yeah I really do hope T-mobile doesn't let this device fall behind firmware wise because the GSIII is out now. I mean even the Nexus S is getting an OTA of Jelly Bean and it came out 2 years ago.. haha

We all want it but deep down we know that ICS is as far is it'll go.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for an official JB update from t-mobile/samsung. We'll of course get custom JB ROMs though.

well in america if we can make it we get other too and america cant make much soo lets wait for others

One feature that I'm really looking forward to is Google Now on Jelly Bean. Feels like a natural evolution of google search for our devices! :cyclops:

The s2 can't even handle ics properly so what do you think jellybean is going to do to it...lol this phone was made for gb that's what it was tested for so you may be able to get all this other stuff but it will never work like it did with the operating system it came with....but we will try...lmfao

i have had absolutely no problems with ICS on my t989. I actually think it works better. I use the siriusxm app a ton everyday and on GB my t989 would lose data and the stream would stop. Since updating to ICS that has not happened once. Sorry but i feel like your opinion here is wrong.

So am I right in saying they already released a better and improved ics. If so is cm10 going to come out soon right. Is anyone like chopsticks working on making a port

I'm pretty sure we were the first and only so far to get an official update , you people are just plain ignorant

There is no need for multiple threads on the subject.

Samsung has said its going to do jellybean for the variants of the g2.

How will I get this before telus does anything? If I wait for telus, it will be another year before we get an official update.

Who cares about Samsung or the carriers. We will see a stable 4.1 Rom here way before it's official.

How easily people forget what this site is all about. Jellybean source is out there and is being poked and prodded by the REAL developers of Android. Forget "official" releases. As long as TouchWiz is part of a Samsung release it's just not worth having nor waiting for.

Duh. I forgot about that. I have my phone rooted too. I just don't remember what version i rooted. It was a video that someone posted on another forum. Worked great. But still looked like my telus phone. Battery life went way up. But then I installed go launcher and locker to get jb look, and my battery life went back to normal. I'm hoping a real jb from will get my good battery life back.

Think we'll have 4.1.2 for a bit before 4.2. There's still some work to be done on 4.2 and if theyre releasing a 4.1.2 it'll be a while before 4.2. Easily spring I would say, but of course this is all just my opinion

I was googling rest of day and keep seeing drop date as some time Q1 2013 (Jan-March)
So if early Q1 awesome but if spring like ypu say
All I know is as soon as I reroot it will drop. Thats just my luck. I need 4.2 camera and I'll probably reroot by Monday but also was reading that 4.1.2 has feature to customize status bar or notification toggles. Didnt really state exactly what or how and I cant find anywhere how unless your rooted?!
But I definitely want to feel the pereus speed with lk8 smoother os

Yup it seems real. Theories say that Google wanted to give the devs and OEM some breathing space for apps and such

Refinement of the current software is a good idea. 4.2.2 is still a bit rough compared to 4.1.2. Better features, but a bit rough.

Yeah as long as the framework isn't completely overhauled then we'll get an aosp version..
It would be nice to get a chance TW version but Samsung doesn't owe it to us.. Even if we did get it.. By the time it's released we'd be on to different phones anyways..
That doesn't mean we can't start a 4.3 thread though

T-Mobile would take months to push it anyway. I don't see why anyone would want another TW update, it might ruin how good it is now.
