ON my Galaxy Nexus, you swipe up from the home key but on the GNote II, that home key is a physical button, how would it work?

I have two Note 2s. I shattered the front glass on my first.
On my the broken Note 2, pressing and holding the Menu button never brought up Google Now. Trying it right now, holding the menu button still just brings up the search bar. I was never able to enable it.
My new Note 2 brings up Google Now without a problem. But I suspect there are others who have the same problem as my first phone did. I checked everywhere, and there were no settings to be found for it.
Always works for me. Here's a screen shot.

Hi all,
I had a Desire and I really miss the search key.
Are they any apps/tricks to remap buttons? For example double press HOME to be Search...
Tried "ButtonRemapper" but it did not work!
Thanks
Keep the menu button pressed for 1 sec
And also keep pressed home button while pressing lock screen btn to save a screen shot image like this:

That's cool but I don't want to do this... I want to have the Search button emulated.
Just found out that it's build in!
Long press on MENU does the Search key job.
And then read carefully what I wrote

So I've recently noticed that once you hit home when you are using any app, you get this sort of short cut screen, is there any way to get rid of it?

This should be in the Q&A section, but to answer the question this recent shortcut screen is displayed only when you press and hold the home button, if you just press the home button without holding it takes you to the home screen of your preferred launcher. I'm not sure if its possible to disable this.
Been around since at least android 2.0. Eclair

I don't know how you get that.
When I'm in "any app", and press home - I get home.
If I'm in "any app" and hold home, I get the typical shortcut box.
All I get when I hold home is the task manager screen which is what's supposed to happen when you do that. I've never seen that screen before.
This screen displays when phone thinks it's in a desktop dock.
Thank you for the info, I rebooted and it went away, again thanks!

In this thread i'll show you how to get the torch in the samsung galaxy s2.
First: download the related app from the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5pZG1vYmlsZS5mbGFzaGxpZ2h0Il0.
then set the settings
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
to turn on the light press the power button on the center.
The little switch under the power button use the light of the screen instead of the flash light
Set the shake option on so you can turn on the torch by shaking the phone in the lock screen. the blue seekbar allows to you to increase or decrease the sensitivity of the phone movement sensor
Ok

Torch on Samsung Galaxy without App
You do not need any app to install to use as Torch on Samsung. :laugh:
Just go to the App drawer and then tap the “Widgets” tab on the top, to open all the available widgets. You will see a 1×1 widget named “Assistive light” which is the one you need to hold and place it as a widget somewhere on one of the home screens.
I am having some frustration with the stock music player. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to get back to the album/artist/playlists screen after selecting a song.
I want to go from here

This works, but not when going in from the homescreen widget. When I hit back from the widget it just goes back to homescreen for me

I am running the DarthStalker ROM I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but stock also had the settings menu separated into 4 tabs? I read somewhere on the Verizon Note 3 forum that you press the menu button when your under settings menu and you can change it back to the old look without the 4 tabs. But for some reason antebellum I hit the menu button when I'm on the settings menu nothing happens?? Anyone know how to change this? Thanks

Anyone?

It's disabled on the T-Mobile version (the menu press option in settings) - you have to hack up the apk or find a way to trick the phone into thinking its VZW for it to work (latter would likely cause other issues elsewhere though, but I could be wrong).
Damn. I hate the tabs. With a passion. Running a 9005 rom and still no workie.
