[Q] Hotmail and Touchwiz? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I've had this issue ever since I've been using Samsung phones with TouchWiz. The issue is that when I send mail it shows it as coming from my hotmail USER NAME instead of my hotmail display name. This means that instead of my first name and last name (John Smith) showing up in the from field when I send an email, it shows up as jsmith. This issue seems to have been around forever. It works fine with my work exchange account though. Any ideas, help, solutions etc?
Thanks,
Tawheed

[Q] CM7 exchange GAL search

Using exchange activesync on my Dinc to get my work email, and noticed some weird behavior. when composing an email using the stock email app on cm7, I can type a contact name in the to: field and it will search the global address list, but no matter that name I use it only returns 19 results, where as my co-workers iphone will show all of the related contacts.
is there any way to show more contacts? has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks for your input.

[Q] Exchange Client Contact Photo

So I just got the Nexus today and so far I am loving it. One thing that is annoying me is that exchange contact pictures aren't showing up in the mail client. In fact for those colleagues that I have in my phone's contact list the email client is not recognizing them as the same contact. This worked without issue on my Rezound but that was using the HTC Sense email client. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change to get this to work on the Nexus?

[Q] GN Exchange Email

Besides Gmail, I also am using Exchange Mail through my Comcast account.
This is what I have experienced and wonder if there is a solution.
After having loaded my mail and having read it on the GN, after some time of receiving new messages, the old messages that I have kept drop off the bottom. Then some time later, I get a new email notification and it is one of the previously read emails and it shows up as not having been read. Is anybody else experiencing this?
Also, I had a DroidX before and was able to select all messages from the settings to delete them without having to individually select each one to delete. Is this a feature that went away in ICS?
Thanks for your responses.

Hotmail.co.uk addresses query

Hi,
I have been searching around and can't find the answer I'm looking for.
Can someone advise if they have managed to sync their hotmail.co.uk to their HOX (or any other Android device) specifically using the MS Hotmail mail option (which defaults to server m.hotmail.com) or via the exchange option??
Hotmail.com addresses sync ok, just can't get my UK address to work. Just to add the hotmail.co.uk mail account is succesfully added however no mails are synced. Looking at the account under sync options the sync icon is red and at the bottom there is an error which highlights something like 'experiencing difficulties at this time - please try again later'. This error appears to be constant.
I know syncing hotmail.co.uk addresses is possible via the 'other' mail account option (which defaults to POP3 settings) and also alternatively by using the MS Hotmail app but would prefer the above - just would like to know if it's possible or not.
Thanks in advance,
GW
It just start happening yesterday so its not anything to worry about yet, I have the same problem.

UPDATE - I've just stumbled across something on Microsoft Answers where one user suggests to configure the account manuallly which you can only do through the exchange option (when you select the MS Hotmail option, various fields including the server name are greyed out).
Advises to use prefixes snt-m, dub-m, bay-m or debug-m in front of .hotmail.com in the server however unfortunately none of these work for me.

Not the case for me, I've been trying to do this for over a week now.
Did this use to work then but now it doesn't?

There are on-going problems it seems, mine periodically stopped sycning several weeks ago, would be okay for a bit, then eventually never sync'd at all. Microsoft don't seem to be bothered helping people fix this.
I then started using debug-m.hotmail.com and that got it working, then seeing the same advice others have mentioned I used the letter prefix I see when I log into Hotmail on a PC browser, and it has been working since.
There also seems to be another issue related to individual accounts that can only be fixed by Microsoft, so I'm thinking there are two issues.
Try logging into Hotmail on a PC and going into your calendar, a few weeks ago I was offered to upgrade to a new calendar, I think this has the effect of moving your account to a new server, which might help kick start everything again.
All in all though it is a mess from Microsoft.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the reply.
Can you just confirm that you actually got it working (previously) with a hotmail UK address with debug-m.hotmail.com as the server? If so I assume you setup a manual MS exchange account under the mail account options to do this?
Just loaded up MSN calendar on desktop but there was no option to upgrade or anything :-s.
I've raised a question on MS answers site, hoping someone from MS will look at it and check out my account to see if they can do anything. Other than that I guess it's just a waiting game or switch to POP3!

Anyone experiencing issues with hotmail UK email addresses?
Hotmail.co.uk addresses still not working with the m.hotmail.com server - anybody got this working or has an alternative solution, except using POP3 or forwarding?

[Q] Send mail as with custom googleapps domain

Hey guys,
I have spent hours googling with no result. Here is my issue with my Lumia 900.
I am using googleapps for my custom domain. I can synchronize all mail, contacts, and calendar as you would do it with your regular gmail account. Basically using custom domain in googleapps means that you have access to all services as regular google user, so server settings is also same.
I have imported several other email accounts to my "custom" gmail and hoped I will be able to "send mail as" from those accounts since it has been officially available for google users since June.
I logged into m.google/sync, ticked "send mail as" and guess what. Nothing happens. Every time I recieve an email to one of my imported accounts and I respond, the email is send from the "main custom domain address".
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? It drives me crazy and may be main reason why I get rid of WP. It absolutely need it working.
Is even the "send mail as" feature working for you, regular gmail users?
I'VE never had it work... And it's caused some confusion when I send emails every once in a whle

No!
No!!! I didnt want to hear that.
On google setup website it said that:
Custom From: Address aren't available. At this time Google Sync does not support custom "From:" addresses.
