[Q]No build.prop ffile - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

So I accidentally deleted my build.prop file from system folder and my phone won't boot up. Any ideas besides ODIN/reflashing ???
EDIT: And yes, I know that I am an idiot.

What rom do you have? Stock or ?

U need to place that file from the same ROM to that path.
If u can create a update.zip and install.
If not reinstall the ROM without wipe.
Sent from my GT-S5660 using Tapatalk 2

Unless you're good with adb, reflashing without wipe is the best idea
Sent from my Nexus 7

Ok, thanks guys!
EDIT: It is now stuck on Galaxy Gio screen ... Need to wipe it then right?

Yup. Try a wipe.

it sounds like a bad download...when aokp is installing in recovery it should take anywhere from 15 to 20 sec same with gapps. i would redownload off the computer and stick it on the root of your sdcard... hopefully u had a backup. also what recovery are u using??? I recommend twrp it is very user friendly and also mounts ext sdcard. some of the recovery for this phone is finnicky.... twrp gives me no problems

[Q] Why can't I get my files I deleted from system/App back?

When I delete files from system/App after rooting, why don't they come back after I wipe data and cache and flash stock rooted rom found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743923)?
It even didn't work when I went into settings and did a hard reset
The only way I got them back was to do what is listed here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099) and start all over from a non rooted state
Any idea why?
Thanks

Did you format system too?
Hard reset or factory reset just will wipe data. If the system files was removed those won't be restored.
Just most be sure of format system.
In CWM is in advance and in TWRP is in Wipe. The second option in the right.

Only way would be if freeza's rom didnt have them. which it would. What file did u flash from his page? Are you sure you didnt download just the firmware? His file wouldve been around the same size as mine. 700-800mb. Unless you were flashing his deodexed version. mine is odexed which without a system wipe may have caused them to not show

oh ok, i dont even see that option in CWM. I have run out of thanks fot today and will get you guys back tomorrow
Quick question
I have the rooted STOCK ROM and I edited some system files. Should I revert back to a nandroid back up with the system files in tact, or should I be ok to flash the new official rooted JB ROM with some system files missing and/or renamed? thanks

I was only able to get it back after going back to UNrooted state and starting over with your file

[Q] sd card Swap failed :/

I use cm10 alpha 7 , when I swap sd card by changing vold.stab I get unfortunately android.process.media stopped and I tried to open storage in settings then I get settings stopped . Possible solution ? :/ Sorry for bad english
Did you set the permissions correctly? Or did you sure the value in vold.fstab are done correctly?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
as long as ur editing the vold.fstab file not copying a replacement then permissions won't change
just make sure that u only change the "1" with "0" and vice versa , don't change anythn else, then save then reboot
If u prefer just flashing a zip then u can find a link for it in another question thread i guess
Try flashing zip files from here instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994688

hi, Yes, I did that reinstall the same rom and flash the zip file. I had also tried a few different ROM with the same repeated flashing & keep getting the same result. At one point, I had also waited for 30 minutes thinking maybe I should have waited a bit longer.

That's very strange, okey lets take it step by step:
What recovery are you using?
Before attempting to swap your sdcard, does the rom worked porperly?
sd card swap fail

CWM 6.0.2.3 ..and yes, it working..because I was able to re-install the ROM zip so I can get back the system.
During the installing of the swap sdcard zip file. I did not see any error message as well.
I had flashed SWAP ICS Version: Android 4.0.x on the S3 ROM by ipromeh..
okey then i guess the only thing you can do is try again. try this, i know you know how to flash but just try it:
1) wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik, wipe system, wipe cache
2) reboot to recovery
3) redo step 1
4) reboot to recovery
5) flash rom, flash gapps
6) boot rom
7) reboot rom
8) install es file manager (you may download it from play store)
9) start es file manager, enable root browsing, and edit /system/etc/vold.stab like in the attached picture
10) reboot
try and lets see
Hi. I had used manual editing on the /system/etc/bold.fstab
Screenshot attached.
Reboot into recovery and wipe the cache ..the reboot system. This time no Boot loop but sdcards are not changing. Please see the second screenshot.

[scripts][Tools] Infamous.Super.Wipe and Infamous.Cache.Wipe for Jelly Bean 4.1.2 TW

Ok guys, these are modded versions of TDJ's tools to add the preload partition. This should allow you to wipe cache and dalvik without jacking up the symlinks. Also for you guys having issues installing a ROM, the superwipe should fix that. First flash the ROM and reboot (important), then if you are having issues flash the super wipe and then the ROM again. Reboot and you should be good.
Thanks again TDJ!!! You rock bro.
Note to other developers: Feel free to link here from your thread, just don't re-upload them please. Thanks
Everyone else: if you see these uploaded anywhere else please let me know. I have no problem with others linking to these but do not want them uploaded anywhere else. Thanks

Thanks Jamison this will solve alot of headaches!
So whenever we want to wipe cache/dalvik use zip file instead of built in twrp??

Yes it does.

I used these scripts installing a ROM and I am having very serious issues. I was using Clockwork and when I rebooted I got stuck in a boot loop. I booted back into recovery but I was not getting fully back into recovery. I tried several times. I finally ODINed back to stock but I can't get the ****ing phone to boot up. It gets toa popup that says ""unfortunatley google partner setup has stopped" and then if I clear that "Google account manager has stopped", "google calender storage has stopped""unfortuantely the process com. android.phone has stopped". ****. I have tried ODIN to 3.5 stock and 4.0.3 both having similar issues.
Anyone have any idea, may have absolutley nothing to do with these scripts but any ideas would be very much appreciated.
What are you running and what are you trying to flash? Wouldn't be the scripts as they only wipe, format, align the partitions.

I was running CWM 6.0.2.9 touch and trying to flash the StockWalk ROM. I don't know if you have seen something like this before but it seems like I am totally unable to install any GAPPS even when flashing stock ROM in ODIN. I had flashed the same ROM before attempting to use the scripts, the reason was that I was unable to add my google account (may be a defect in the ROM but others are saying they have not had issue).
*when I say install GAPPS I am just refering to the ones that install on TW ROMS, I am not flashing a GAPPS file of any kind

OK so I thought I knew enough to not feel like a noob, but here I am with three questions.
First question is what is a "preload problem"?
Second question is this will only work on 4.1.2, and not 4.2.2 (CM 10.1)?
And the third question is will using the original DS wipes mess something up?
T mobiles 4.1.2 loads a preboot partition. Wiping cache with anything but these scripts also wipes these partitions. This script is modified to not do that. No preboot partition = boot loop.
Thus, if you're on anything BUT Tmobiles 4.1.2 you don't need this script and there's no advantage to using it.

Hi,
After i made some modifications in build.prop (screen is broken so it trigger my back and menu all the times so i tried to enable softkey), my phone is stuck in bootloop on the samsung logo.
I tried to reflash my rom (omnirom) thinking that it would solve my problem formatting /system but no luck, still bootloop.
I tried using twrp file manager to restore the copy of build.prop i maded, i try to retsore permission but still no luck and bootloop.
I could use any help on this,
