[Q] sd card Swap failed :/ - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

I use cm10 alpha 7 , when I swap sd card by changing vold.stab I get unfortunately android.process.media stopped and I tried to open storage in settings then I get settings stopped . Possible solution ? :/ Sorry for bad english

Did you set the permissions correctly? Or did you sure the value in vold.fstab are done correctly?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2

as long as ur editing the vold.fstab file not copying a replacement then permissions won't change
just make sure that u only change the "1" with "0" and vice versa , don't change anythn else, then save then reboot
If u prefer just flashing a zip then u can find a link for it in another question thread i guess

Try flashing zip files from here instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994688

anyone knows why it does not work on my phone?

hi, Yes, I did that reinstall the same rom and flash the zip file. I had also tried a few different ROM with the same repeated flashing & keep getting the same result. At one point, I had also waited for 30 minutes thinking maybe I should have waited a bit longer.

That's very strange, okey lets take it step by step:
What recovery are you using?
Before attempting to swap your sdcard, does the rom worked porperly?

CWM 6.0.2.3 ..and yes, it working..because I was able to re-install the ROM zip so I can get back the system.
During the installing of the swap sdcard zip file. I did not see any error message as well.
I had flashed SWAP ICS Version: Android 4.0.x on the S3 ROM by ipromeh..

okey then i guess the only thing you can do is try again. try this, i know you know how to flash but just try it:
1) wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik, wipe system, wipe cache
2) reboot to recovery
3) redo step 1
4) reboot to recovery
5) flash rom, flash gapps
6) boot rom
7) reboot rom
8) install es file manager (you may download it from play store)
9) start es file manager, enable root browsing, and edit /system/etc/vold.stab like in the attached picture
10) reboot
try and lets see

Hi. I had used manual editing on the /system/etc/bold.fstab
Screenshot attached.
Reboot into recovery and wipe the cache ..the reboot system. This time no Boot loop but sdcards are not changing. Please see the second screenshot.

anyone experienced this? or does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

[Q] Can't obtain proper root with IML4K Perfection ICS rom?

As per thread title, I cannot establish proper SU permissions when using this rom. Nowhere in the OP does it state needing to flash the SU.zip on top of the rom, but when I try to anyway, I still don't obtain permissions. Is there something wrong with my phone? I thought the proper permissions were baked into the ICS leaks at this point?
On a side note, I wipe everything manually (Data/Cache/Dalvik), then Super Wipe on top of that, then flash the ROM, fix permissions, reboot, wait 10 minutes, and reboot again. The last time I tried to reflash the ROM, I waited half an hour before playing with it, but nothing still. Any idea of what I could be doing wrong?

On the root, not in any folder? Did you flash it by "install update zip" in recovery. You have custom recovery? Just trying to find out where you are in root process.

Nope, I always flash by installing zip file on internal or external.
Flash back
I had the same problem,
1.Flash back to stock rom
2.open superuser, press menu, go to preferneces, go to su binary
3.once done, backup the stock rom
4.Flash the ics perfection zip from CWM, then reboot.
You should have root access after performing these steps

You need to run superwipe a few times, this has been stated before. Run it 2-3 times then start wiping data/cache/davlik again. Also are you sure its not just one program ? Have you tried another root access program to verify ?
Try the multiple wipes then flash. If you still have problems Put your phone in the dishwasher and report back

[Q] com.htc.skinpicker stops working unexpectedly

Hi,
I just rooted my HTC Desire HD, and installed a custom ROM (Android Revolution HD 6.3.2). After starting up the phone, I tried to change the skin on the phone (I don't like the original skin) but every time I press the Skin-button (Personalize -> Skin) I get the error message; Sorry! The application Skin Picker (process com.htc.skinpicker) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any idea of how to fix this?
thank you in advance.
You can try fixing the permissions. If you have 4ext recovery I believe it has an option or you can download rom manager. Either one might fix it.

Unable to mount sd (CWM)

Ok so I'm trying to root my phone and install SuPrimo v3 because it looks like the only decent rom I can find, so I'm following his instructions.
"
Unlock bootloader and get root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1598964
Install CWM v5 Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1635520
Transfer the zip file to a folder on your SDCARD
Backup whatever you want to.
Boot into bootloader
Go to fastboot
flash the boot.img form the zip
Boot into CWM Recovery from bootloader
Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset option and scroll down until YES pops and then press it
/!\CAUTION: ALL OF YOUR DATA WILL BE GONE/!\
Go to "install zip from sdcard"
Then 'choose zip from sdcard"
Then navigate to the folder wherever you saved it and press it.
Then, scroll down and press YES.
The process will start and you will be notified when it is completed.
Just Reboot and Enjoy!"
When I got to install zip from sdcard CWM comes up with E: Can't mount /sdcard/
and from here I'm pretty stuck. I've tried reflashing stock recovery, kernel, etc. Figured I'd try RUU but that didn't work. How can I make my sdcard mount so I can install SuPrimo?
Any other info required I will try to provide. Basically phone seems to work fine but I can't flash a rom onto it
Try using a different sdcard. It seems that the CWM recovery has issues with some sdcards
Ahh yes that's done it thank you! Had to search for an SD that works as all my others aren't even detected by my computer.
Cheers!

G-Apps on CM10 (Benjamin)

Hey,
I am a noob so kindly forgive me if I am doing something wrong.
I followed the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813077&page=68 and http://androidforums.com/wildfire-s-all-things-root/480954-guide-how-root-wildfire-s-s-finally.html to finally get CM10 installed on my Wildfire S (Marvel).
But... I am having a problem, whatever I do G-Apps is not showing after I flash it.
Basically, I go to CWM and install from SD card then restart, it says "updating 75 apps" (or something like that, cant remember the exact text) then when it starts... I cannot find gmail and all the other goodies.
Do I have to clear / delete / reinstall something or do something after this?
Please help!
Thanks in advance

As far as I can guess you flashed Gapps lite version... That just bundles with playstore. You need to download other stuff from the playstore itself.

But I dont even see playstore there
How can I delete the present installation completely and then reinstall from step zero?
Or can you recommend a good (as much bugs free) ICS rom which has no problem with gapps?

I never heard about this problem earlier. But here's a step by step guide to install it. Double check it. Also I recommend CM9 coz I guess you are new to custom roms and its wayy less buggy and will save you from frustration.
In recovery:
1. Wipe data/factory reset.
2. wipe davlik cache.
3. install zip from sd. (Install ROM)
4. Install zip from sd (Install G-apps package)
5. Reboot.
7. If everything goes well you'll see one time startup asking for your google id and all that stuff.
8. when it's fully booted install whatever you are using to incease memory like data 2 sd scripts or link2sd.
9. reboot.
You're done.

I went back to my backed up stock, but this time I used TB to remove some of the bloatware and it's good.
I am giving this mobile to my mom so I wanted it working good, but for her limited uses I think the stock htc room should be good and simple to use.
Will look into link2sd, never used it before.

I would check it for you but it's not possible now since I went back to stock HTC (2.3) from backup and just removed some of the bloatware before giving it to my mom as I think she would find JB a little confusing compared to HTC's skin.

Unable to Format /data

Hi all, this is my first post here. Unfortunately it is an issue, but I have been flashing roms for a while now.
So last night after flashing Ditto Note for my note 2 on att, I decided I didn't like it and wanted to revert back to my previous rom. However, when I am trying to format data in recovery it just hangs. I have tried both on CWM and TWRP... twrp says: "error too many open files"
And obviously this issue has caused many other issues for me such as being unable to flash anything else as anything else will just get stuck on the bootscreen.
I remember somewhere that there is a flashable zip that will specifically format everything for you, but I dont remember what this was called.
But any help would be great
Flashed stock 4.3 via Odin and it still doesn't boot past samsung screen
Just tried using zoot's super wipe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983489
and once again it is stuck on data wipe

I've tried TWRP and Aroma file manager now. Aroma file manager detected over 998 files in that folder until it froze... I've also tried moving the folder into my external SD card in which case there also happens to be 335 files until it froze as well.
How does a rom manage to install thousands of blank folders??

Yes. I have flashed and booted into a Rom a couple times while having this 'data wipe' issue. However i feel like it is the luck of the draw because sometimes it boots, other times it hangs at the samsung screen lol
Should I go ahead and try to install a rom?
Is the "wipe" command issued by the recovery simply "rm -rf" or an actual format command with mkfs.ext4?

Issue has been solved. Wiped phone with a script? (i think) from a flashable zip contained from ANDROID HD rom for the note 2
for those that might need it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040941 (3rd post down)
This script does not use AROMA which has crashed for me everytime I tried to wipe with it. Really useful
Now currently running aosp rom cause I hate the new TW in 4.3 and 4.4 lol
