Which screen protector? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys,
I need a screen protector which covers the whole front (not the borders). My Nexus's screen broke and I installed a new screen and now I can't find which one did I use earlier. It was perfect.
Attaching a photo of the previous one.
Thanks

I just bought the official Verizon screen protectors last weekend. You get 3 for 12.99. Just don't get the glare proof ones as they distort the color.

How do they fit?

i really have never used any screen protectors for my samsung phones. I never have had any scratches whatsoever and I am pretty rough with my phone.

Wow, really? :/ Not at all? Even I don't want to apply a protector. The Beauty of the phone dies!

I just got my Galaxy Nexus off eBay and I bought ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Samsung Galaxy Nexus Screen Protector Shield with Lifetime Replacements
$9.95 from Amazon.com
I bought one an ArmorSuit shield for my Nexus 7 and it is GREAT.
I posted a review on Amazon.com, basically stating:
FLAWLESS installation. No bubbles, no overhangs, no dust. No "orange peel" texture like you get on the other brand (rhymes with Bagg). Save Money and get this TOP QUALITY protector. When I showed my Nexus 7 to my friends, they couldn't even tell that it had a screen protector on, and this one on my Galaxy Nexus looks just as great!
If you follow the instructions, (it is a wet install- but super easy) and take your time, you should get similar results. I will never buy any other brand of screen protectors.

I'm still using the same XO Skins from last December. It' still holding up great but I'm curious to try out this no screen protector thing now and see what happens.

I'll probably keep the screen naked. I'm loving the feel of it. And anyway, the whole front glass of the phone is just for 16$. :/

OR I might just buy the armor suit shield

Ghost armor is what I've been using since my S. Pretty transparent and it's slightly oleophobic so any oils that build up wipe right off. Dust likes to cling to the edges though.

[Q] Which screen protector should I choose?

Hy guys, i'm going to buy a Galaxy Nexus and I wanna buy a screen protector before getting the phone.
I have a ZAGG one on my iPod Touch 4g, but I don't like it, so I decided to ask here.
I had the opportunity to try a Brando one on a friend's iPhone 4, and it's very nice, but I can't find a Galaxy Nexus' one... So which i should choose? I also can't understand yet differences between the one using wet application and the others...
PS: i already found some questions on various screen protectors, but didn't find a "which shouldi i choose" one in this section...
PPS: Sorry if i made some mistakes, my English is only a scholastic one...
Brando have screen protectors available for for the Galaxy Nexus (not sure if they do international shipping):

I've heard the SGP Flex screen protector is very good, I'll most likely be ordering one myself. (http://www.sgpstore.com/cell-phone/...s-screen-protector-steinheil-flex-series.html)
i have the zagg. Its actually not as orange peely like the zagg on my old galaxy s. I wish power support made their screen protectors for something other than by apple because theirs are excellent.

Oh, didn't know Brando already have in stock Galaxy Nexus' screen protectors! Thank you very much, probabilly i will buy it. But tell me please, which are the differences between screen protectors with wet application and the others?
Uff, now i'm very undecided on buying SGP Oleophobic or Brando...

Do you know if the Brando is a dry install? If so, it probably won't cover all of the screen like he Oleophobic from SGP. I just bought the Flex and it will be here Wednesday so I can let you know how that feel/orange peel is.
The Zagg on my iPod is crap looking at the Brando on my friend's iPhone. Yeah, it has less bubbles, but his doesn't make the user feel he is using a screen protector!
Not meant to hi-jack this thread but I came across this
http://www.sgpstore.com/cell-phone/...-nexus-screen-protector-steinheil-series.html
The description says that the screen protector has an oleophobic coating. I was wondering if the film is clear or matte? I don't like matte screen protectors.
I'm interested in that screen protector too... I'm undecided between this one and the Brando's one

It's clear, but I feel like it causes a little bit more friction than the bare screen. As mentioned in another review on here, it's significantly smaller than the entire screen area to avoid peeling at the curved edges, so that may be something that affects your decision to purchase.
How is the fitting of the Brando screen protector? Can someone upload a picture of it on the Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks.
I never realized screen protectors were such a big deal. lol
The one I am using now is the Anti-Glare screen protector that I got from Verizon. It was a bundle with 3 protectors, a car charger, and clip holster.
Didn't realize everyone used one... My GNex stays naked!
Stay away from the ones Verizon sells. They aren't completely terrible, but those things smudge so badly. It's pretty annoying, but I can't complain because they are protecting the screen for the most part.

I've tried just about every screen protector out there and I have come to realize the VZW protectors are the best for me. Yes, they do show smudges a bit more, but they don't yellow, they don't require the wet application, they don't have a weird feeling to them, and they are the cheapest. Also, I had one on my Incredible for 6 months without a mark on it.
Just my opinion after trying tons of brands.
Ghost armor..Hands Down

@OP: So which Screen Protector did you end up with? Cany ou give us some feedback about it?
Verizon clear (not anti-glare) works great. No orange peel. there is a 1-2mm gap from the bezel but the sensor cutouts align perfectly
Currently using VZW clear + Incipio NGP.
I went with ghost armor, cost me $15 covers top to bottom and edge to edge. Rep installed it perfectly. No orange peel yet but I do expect some. The good news is that it comes with a life time warranty. If it does begin to show signs of orange peel, they will replace it for a $5 install fee.

Don't look too far, it's right infront of you!!!
+1 for Verizon clear screen protector.

Warning About VZW Screen Protectors!

They are just terrible.
for the first week, it attracted sweat. I was not even sweaty, yet it absorbed the sweat. If i were watching you tube videos, i could see where it was wet and id have to wipe it away.
for the second week. Its picking up fingerprints, in my pocket. its that bad. The fingerprints dont go away either. It starts making bumps. Heres the kicker, if you try to swypeD See what i did there?) it away, more finger prints! They start to make it hard just to swipe left and right in the home screens.
To point out some other flaws-
-OverPriced
-Does not even cover the complete screen
-Attracts sunlight
-cut outs are too large, incase of user error
-comes in a pack of 3, so if i get a new screen protector (no way im not) ill feel bad about it. (yes, this is a flaw.)
So Never, Never, Ever, get the verizon screen protector. Even if you were in my position where you did the living social thing to get $50 to spend, Just get two cases, or the highly overpriced $6 screen cleaners, which are really just the free things they give you when you get glasses.
I don't have that problem with Verizon screen protector.
And if you use finger to clean off finger prints.....there's something wrong with you. It's like using a dust-maker to clean the dust?
I do like the smoothness and clarity of the Verizon screen protector. My ghost armor still left some bumps and lines in the protector. The protector not fitting the whole way isn't too bad because I'm using the amzer case but it would be nice it it was a little bigger. I don't like the fact that it scratches so easy. The ghost armor resisted scratches, but this one just takes it. I had it in my pocket all day and managed to find scratches on it. I guess that's why they give you 3. If it was a decent protector you would think 1 is all you need.

The Verizon screen protectors are a bargain compared to some other options out there, and they're just as good. I've used $13 (for one) BoxWave ClearTouch Crystal screen protectors on my Eris, Incredible, and Fascinate with very very good results. I purchased the Verizon clear screen protectors since BoxWave didn't have theirs ready when the phone was released, and I was able to see how good the Verizon protector was beforehand on my friend's Galaxy Nexus.
Most of the items you listed as flaws will be present with other screen protectors. Sure, the Verizon protector could have extended widthwise more, but covering the curved bottom with this style of dry/static application screen protector will result in the entire bottom edge being lifted off the screen. I haven't seen any screen protector that doesn't attract sunlight compared to no screen protector. Even anti-glare versions tend to attract light, though with a more diffuse reflection. The cutouts for the ear speaker, camera, and sensor are fine and hardly too large. I've never experienced the problem where fingerprints cause bumps.
the Verizon ones beat the other 3 brands I have tried by far. Maybe you should take a shower so you're not so greasy.

Well put when I first got them I made the mistake of getting the anti glare and that was horrible then I bought an xo case fit one that I did not like the fit of so I went back and got the clear one from verizon and I am now satisfied

What's wrong with you guys.. Verizon screen protector is not a bargain. Besides, you can get very good screen protectors from Ebay for negligible amount of money. Lmfao

I agree. A good screen protector will cover the entire glass, not just the viewable screen portion. The price is like $15 or something?
Typically you can order a better one for less. I have an XO brand I paid less for and it's a edge-to-edge wet apply.
I bought the 3 pack, pulled one out and placed it over the screen (before trying to apply it) saw what it covered, and put it back in the little bag. I have 3, never used, waste of money.
I think they're just okay. Great clarity but does attract fingerprints and the prints are hard to wipe off using my T-shirt.
Once I'm done with the pack, I plan on getting the SGP ultra clear oleophobic.

Bought a 3 pack with the Verizon accessory sale for like $7 or $8, they're perfectly fine for me and thought it was easy to apply. The part of the screen not covered is covered up my by gel skin. When I clean mine, I grab a Zeiss lens cleaning wipe, and it works fine for me. I'm pretty picky on screen protectors and typically hate them, but I actually prefer the feel of the VZW protector over the bare glass.
/no issue
/personal preference
Bought verizon 3-pack for about $8 after corporate discount, and nothing's wrong with them. I actually had a bad 1st Gnexus device that I had to return, while they were swapping I asked for a piece of tape to lift and reapply the used protector on the new device, and the verizon rep was astounded at how easily I applied it without a single bubble or dust particle.
Btw, they cover as much as the screen as possible, if it went edge to edge it would be lifted because of the curvature in the glass. I use my nexus to talk about an hour a day, and I do have a pretty greasy face, and my screen is nicely protected from my nasty face.
Count me among those liking the VZW clear screen protectors. As good or better than any others I've used. Cleans fine with a microfiber cloth. No issues.
After using sgp and power support shields, I can confidently say the Verizon protectors are garbage. Save yourself some money and just buy an sgp shield for your phone. Same price and significantly better.

+1 for the vzw clear screen protectors. not perfect, but much better than the wet application skinomi.

My one experience with the SGP Oleophobic was that it scratched very easily. The screen protector scratched while I was trying to rub out bubbles after application. The Verizon clear and BoxWave Crystal protectors never scratched from doing this.
Just installed a VZW protector on my phone.
Crystal clear, no orange peel that I can see. A little less slick than I would like but once it gets "greased up" from normal use Im sure it will be fine.
Only complaint is it doesnt cover the bottom portion of the phone perfectly....sides and top are good in conjunction with my Diztronics rev 3 case, but the bottom of the protector is about 3mm short. Good enough for now, while I decide which better proector I want to buy.
Do people not use invisi shield anymore. Those are nice and pretty cheap.

I will say these are "ok" at best...they look good on the phone but if you put your phone in your pocket they scratch really easily. Mine looked horrible after a week of use.

screen protector

What screen protector is everyone using. I have boxwave on my HTC amaze but wondering how it is on the xoom
Zagg here.
I'm using the Zagg invisishield for the Zoom screen. The thing is awesome. Keeps fingerprints to a minimum, cleans up really nice and it's super durable.
I keep looking for the Zagg in store and no such luck, its the only time I remember to look for it. I keep finding the family edition xoom covers now
Go right to the Zagg site HERE.
Iam using Zagg Full Body, great protection screen and low finger print...
I have just one issue with back part protection... the film is freeing and it does not adhere more in the rounded off part.
I just contact Zagg, register my product and Zagg send me a new product.
Great deal.
I am ordering Exim screen protector from ebay. I used this brand for my previous phone and it works great.
I'm using the ScreenGuardz HD from Bodyguardz.com. It's great. It gets rid of some of the glare on the screen and actually feels nicer to touch than the bare glass. I played with it at CES and liked it so much that I ordered it when I got home. It's also a static cling shield so it can be re-positioned if necessary.
Just ordered Zagg screen protector.
I fitted one to my HTC desire over a year ago. Still as new, expensive but very good.
I was using a Zagg screen protector for the first 3 months, but about 2 months ago I took it off and haven't looked back. The XOOM screen is very durable as it is made with Corning Gorilla Glass™ (I know there is allot of speculation about that) but if you go to the Corning website the XOOM is listed in the Motorola section of "Show all devices"
I have an "Acase" leather Folio case to protect it when I'm on the go, as for regular use I just bought some "DustOff" brand LCD screen cleaning spray and a I find that a cheap $3.00 micro fiber cloth from the automotive section at Walmart works best and leaves absolutely no micro-scratches or lint on my screen.
Just be sure to take care of your screen by cleaning your it at least once a day. Having the natural feeling and look of the screen the way it was intended is well worth the effort....of course that is just my observation, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using a screen protector to protect your investment, but honestly I haven't had a screen protector on in over 2 months and my screen is still absolutely as perfect as the day I bought the device.
Anyway just my 2 cents lol

I agree, I don't believe a screen protector is necessary!

scratches through screen protector.. reccomend me a new one !

Bought the steinheil flex, 2 screen protectors.
noticed this white 'hair' line... eventually ending up peeling it off and its a scratch! can feel it with my finger and everything... matches up perfectly to a white line on the screen protector too...
Ridic! £15. 2 weeks of waiting. 3 days of use. 1 unhappy customer. *angry*
What do you guys reccomend I get now? Going to leave this one on for the moment, but not permanently since it did this..
Btw this is the most ive ever spent on a phone. Its always been in a pocket to itself, im always making sure its not near anything that could scratch it (even since the protector has been put on) and... idgi how i got one. lol
To my surprise I can recommend the Verizon clear screen protectors (NOT the matte, anti glare ones = awful).
They do leave a little gap all around, but they are smooth, easy to apply and look decent and most of all I feel they protect my screen!
Had a scare yesterday. I fumbled my phone and it slid out of my hand face down onto a very sharp edge on the slide for my keyboard pullout.
My heart stopped for a sec before turning it around and indeed a pretty ugly gash on the screen and a second minor one. Felt it with my fingernail, hoping it was just the screen protector, but dang it felt deeeep.
Mustered up the courage to rip off the screen protector and hallelujah: perfect screen.
The screen protector was pretty banged up, but not even cut all the way through.
Applied a new one right away and my Nexus looks like new.
I did order an XO skin as well, but it has been sitting in its box unopened since last year!
I have an XO Skin, and I totally recommend one!
XO skins are known to "hide" the surface scratches. Give that a go and see what happens.
However, you might not favour the rubbery feeling of the XO
Zagg screen protector! Will not scratch will not give you the glare of the plastic screen protector best I've ever used I buy them for every touch screen I have and it has lifetime warranty if it rips scratches anything the will replace it

I just got the xtream gaurdz full body screen protector after my old screen protector started coming off, its a wet application but it only took about 3 hours before I could use it again and it does not have any orange peel at all the best part was that it was only $5 on eBay and free shipping, I will say though that if you are comftorable with taking your phone apart its much easier to apply on the screen and housing seperatly

^^ Agree, Zagg is great!!
I have an ishieldz on. It's pretty invisible, and don't mind the feel, but noticed that it dulls the screen a little when I had it side-by-side with a naked nexus.
Am thinking about pulling it off and taking my chances.
I've had a Flex on my GN and I like the feel and fit. With what and how hard do you have to slice the screen for it to go thru the protector?
XO Skin FTW

Should I buy an screen protector?

I just got my new GN and its awesome, it worth every cent.
But I haven't bought any kind of protection, neither a case, tpu or screen protector.
Is this screen really scratch resistant? I come from a 3VO and that fuc*ing screen scratched a lot... ok, not that much, but it does scratched.
So is it worth to buy an screen protector? , the screen looks awesome like this and I don't want to ruin it
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I never really used one but while something like a key will not scratch the screen, things like sand and other fine grains will. Take that into consideration..
Also if you must, xoskins screen protectors do not detract from screen quality in my personal experience.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I'll suggest you buy a protector and save your screen. The instant I saw a scratch on my screen, I got very anal about it and got the protector the very next day.
It's never too late to save your screen. The oleophobic coating is just for your finger prints, not for scratches.
Sent from my mini tractor.
Better safe than sorry
Yes, you should. Buy a wet apply.
Ok, the decision is made, tonight I'm looking for a screen protector on eBay.
Thank you dudes

Hey you made it. Check your pm. But on topic I haven't had one since I got the phone I love the glass.... Can't stand plastic coverings. But I unfortunately already have two minimal scratches that you can only see in sunlight at an angle or under a flashlight.

Last 2 phones I used Desire Z and Sensation didn't get scratches at all (Gorilla Glass)
Before that had Nexus One which got plenty of scratches in a year.
Seems same with GN. I have one annoying scratch and a few fine small ones after 3 months of use. I'd say get a screen protector for this phone.
I don't use a case and phone is usually alone in one pocket
