I'm currently running firmware ZHALJ4 and for some reason I don't have a sort contact names option in the settings menu in the contacts app.
Am I missing something?

same here!! I didn't noticed this until 2 days ago my friend who just got a GS3 asked me how to sort contact list by last name...
then i went to a phone shop and checked 4 galaxy phones (note II LTE, GS 3 LTE, GS 3 and Note 1 LTE). none of them can sort contacts by last name (the GS3 is on ICS and others are on JB)
I installed of of the new ROM's at the sort by surname function is available again.

I don't have a full ROM zip to flash (might check with some members who received the OTA recently), I have my backup that you can restore through CWM.
let me know if you want it, I'll upload somewhere.

also, a few nights ago, when i opened this gray page, i noticed like tons of blackdots under the screen, mostly on the top but also around and centre too. are they dead pixels? will warrenty get me exchanged? i bought my phone with telus but lost the.receipt. how do i get warrenty? im in canada.
sorry for all the questions

What is so special about the stock ICS Chinese keyboard? I'm currently using CEDIME which is fantastic, so I'm just curious.

This one I'm not sure as I never really done this, perhaps should wait for other members who had experience on this to comment.
It's just my habit to make a backup on my new handset before doing anything else, mine came with yakjusz..I don't like additional keyboard which I don't use. Flashed it to yakju.
well, im assuming that stock chinese keyboard would look identical to stock english, which is the best keyboard there is IMO

Pretty easy to do the edits. Smali isn't too bad to read, picked it up in minutes.
Now if I could get one of the pros to school me on why a simple little edit on systemui.apk is causing me fits. But that's another thread.

I would check with the ROM dev you are running. It's not my place to fix and/or support something they undid due to very heavy modding.

I flashed the LK8 and every time the phone booted I was getting the activation screen even tho I was fully activated. I flashed back to LJ1 and still was getting activation screen on every boot. Could this lock have caused the issue? Sprint replaced the phone!

I have an auntie that has a T-Mo Galaxy S2 and when trying to upgrade it says that there is no new upgrade even tho that it is on froyo. Trying to connect it to kies, the program doesn't recognize it. She took it to the T-Mo store and they said that it was a bug in some of the S2's and were unable to do anything. My question now, is it safe to install cwm and flash a jelly bean rom even tho that this bug is present??? Thanks in advance
Sorry for the double post but I'm not sure if it's worth noting, but the front camera is on the right side of the phone as opposed to the left (looking at pictures from the web). Not sure if this is substantial or anything just a quick note.

You have to upgrade through kies software on your PC if you're on stock Gingerbread.

The phone is not on gingerbread it is on FROYO. When trying to connect to kies it would not recognize the phone after trying multiple troubleshooting techniques.

Try and take some screenshots or something. Because even the first Galaxy S2 (the I9100) was released with Gingerbread, not Froyo, so this is stumping me right now.

Does it look like that? That's the Galaxy S 4G. Its like a slight revision to the OG Galaxy S. It doesn't have official CM Builds iirc though.
If it doesn't look like that, then she doesn't have a Galaxy S device, just some random Samsung phone
