Off Topic: Nexus 4 question - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Do you guys think that the Nexus 4 will come available to sprint or metro pcs?
I understand that the different frequencies of the carriers may be different but I wasn't sure if that was even a correct idea.
Thoughts?

No, MPCS won't bother putting out a Smartphone of that caliber for the price they would sell it for without supporting LTE. Sprint probably won't either unless they end up releasing an LTE version in the future.

Google didn't want to deal with CDMA networks to begin with, sprint and Verizon proofed they aren't ready to handle a nexus phone! In a few years, once sprint or Verizon change there ways, Google might consider making another CDMA nexus.

No and I think this thread will get locked.

No Lte support no go for most carriers, hspa is fast but sprint don't support it.

Yes, there is: use the phone in the early morning or late at night.

When did you start your contract and if you keep pushing it you can but is a lot calls for it to get you out free in the other hand the price of the GN should be enough to get out of ETF( that's what I did)

i just renewed last month. dam so sell the phone for 300 and that should pay the eft fee.
As has been posted here and all over the web several thousand times, Sprint's 3G data speeds are terrible pretty much nationwide. They have a few markets that are ok, but many aren't

Well you could get closed to 400$ but I would try to see if sprints lets you go without fee

flash a Verizon prl on your phone and consume alot of data and sprint will boot you after a month or two of alot of roaming etf free. Its what I am doing.

I would do that as well. But I have three phones on one account and that means buying all new phones and 2gnexs and an epic 4g won't pay for new phones and contracts. Unfortunately I'll have to deal with it. Until LTE hits me. At least I hope it does.

when you sell your sprint phones when they cancel your service it will more than cover your new phones. You would actually come out ahead a little.

AT&T GoPhone is one of the worst choices for prepaid smartphones.
Unlocked gsm nexus might wait until thanksgiving for the new 5 nexus devices
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
this is precisely why i'm leaving Sprint and going to T-Mobile. the 4G Wimax is fast (5000kbps) but none of the newer Sprint phones are using Wimax anymore and Sprint's 3G is crawling at <500kbps. Can't wait to activate my nexus on T-Mobile when my SIM comes in!

The only problem I had with it was on the unlimited everything plan for $50, they booted me when they found out I wasn't using a dumb phone but that was after trying to download a ROM haha. Switching to another European phone put data right back on.

Very cool, I still remember the old GSM vs. CDMA days where this was always an advantage to GSM. I'll have to read up on SVDO, it's funny this is no where advertised!

Straight talk

For those of you using straight talk are we allowed to bring our galaxy nexus' onto their carrier? I really can't afford to get rid of this baby

As long as it is a GSM Nexus, then yes. They use either ATT or TMobile towers.

You could try and flash it to cricket, boost mobile, Virgin mobile, page plus, etc. Some people have seemed to get it to work.

Yes you can bring any AT&T or T-Mobile compatible device to Straight Talk. Just choose at the time of order whether you want AT&T or T-Mobile service. The GSM GNex can do either one.

Basically those are your two options. Considering you won't get LTE when you leave Verizon, and its a huge hassle to flash, I'd just sell it buy a GSM model and put it on a GSM prepaid carrier. Faster speeds and less hassle on your end.

Ya its a big hassle when compared to just buying a Straight Talk (or any other carrier) SIM and just putting it in the phone.
Not to mention that on Cricket you'll be stuck on EVDO 3G, which is quite slow often.

I have at&t straight talk and I get hspa+ speeds a lot. Some people call it 4g. I would consider it like 3.5g. But I can pull like 4Mb down, which is fast enough for me

Check out the massive prepaid thread. Popular options right now are T-Mobile Monthly 4G, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile and Net10.

You get HSPA+, the faster-than-normal-3G connection. Plenty of info out there about it. No LTE on prepaid carriers just yet. The GSM Galaxy Nexus doesn't have LTE either way though, so the only way you'll get LTE is to go Verizon (or Sprint lol).
Speeds will be dependent on your area and network saturation. YMMV, I'd expect 2-7mbps down / 1-4mbps up.

ROMS for Metropcs GS3??

So I currently own both e4gt and gs3 on Sprint and I'm tempted to make the jump to Metro since they have lte in my area and Sprint won't have it till Q2 of next year ; I'm hesitated because I love flashing roms and there isn't a specific forum for the device. Could someone give me some advice on it? TIA

Since the phone is really a sprint device I'd assume the sprint roms would work on a flashed gs3. If 4G works after the phone is flashed I'd love to know because sprint's data speeds are despicable

I wouldn't flash it over to Metro since I wouldn't have 4g lte. I'd sell both sg2&sg3 and buy the Metro gs3. I'm just wondering what ROM I could flash.

Oh... I didn't know metro was going to be carrying it. If the hardware is the same as the us variants (dual core 1.5 and 2 gigs ram) I would try one of those. The first hurdle is getting root access

T-Mobile s4 on AT&T

How well would my s4 work on the AT&T network? Thinking of making the switch only because TMO has very bad coverage @ my place of employment and zero coverage @ my new home. Please do consider that I will apply the appropriate compatible radios/rom(s) for ATT.

Yes.
You have to SIM unlcock it. There is a guide around here somewhere. It's really easy.
Do not switch radios. Let me say that again. Do not flash an AT&T radio. You will not be happy.
