If you running original CM9 B3, yes it possible. (Some of based CM9 B3 have different settings)
go to camera settings, and turn on "Power Shutter"
So you can capture by pressing power button.

Is cam not working because your using kernel from alpha 4? Instead of alpha 5. As CM9 alpha 4 had no camara so alpha 5 was released on same day?
nope...

Did you do anything to fix it, like a reboot or change any settings? because it would be useful to have a temp fix for now

Jellybean, no search with long menu press?

Any one get the menu key to function as a search key besides bringing up Google search on the home Page?
AOKP does that by default.

In most apps holding the menu key acts like a search button on a stock rom. Not so with AOSP or AOKP. Bummer.
Is not design to do it on stock ICS/jellybean samsung added it since they don't have a search key

Yeah, would be nice if someone could work this into an ASOP kernel.

If you don't mind using another launcher such as apex you can set it to do that or many other things.

Unfortunately, the text search option only works when in the launcher.

AOSP ROM with burst mode?

Do any AOSP ROMs support burst mode in the camera?

Flashed that over cm10, but not working... camera freezes then doesn't respond.

The AOSP camera has burst mode by default. Not sure why you'd need a hacked camera.

Correct.
For those that obviously don't know > open the camera app > tap the setting icon on the left > tap the 3 blocks on the left, the menu > scroll down to burst mode and set it to 'on' .

yes
cm10
yes. stock camera app works, there is just a green effect when capturing photos. does not greatly affect the camera performance since it is just an effect maybe due to the porting of jellybean to our wonder.

There should be some buttons combination, like power button + home button for android 4.3 (stock one), and the older combination was power button + vol.down.
I've checked on CM-REMIX (android 4.4.2) and the 2nd combination of buttons works.
There's always a button combination for a screen shot (since android 4.0+ I think).

As you didn't mention what ROM you are running I assume you are running the stock firmware, Samsung's TouchWiz video player got a built-in button to take video shots.

The method mentioned above should work, me personally I use a module for Xposed Installer called Xposed Gesture Navigation and from the settings choose the gestures you want, and their action.
If you have any question concerning Xposed Installer or Xposed Gesture Navigation let me know
